Summary: Top Travolta
Review: I really enjoyed this film. I think John Travolta gets better and better, every movie he makes. It doesn't feel as he's acting. He is GREAT!

Summary: REMARKABLY UNEXCITING!!!
Review: Someone please tell me why John Travolta is stooping to this level. After GREASE, PULP FICTION, and GET SHORTY, you would think he would have some kind of judgement on what movies he should act in. Why in God's name would he even think about being in such a bad movie after those outstanding performances?

First of all, the characters are so shallow that a baby pool has more depth. And the plot? Remarkably unexciting! Having no action, this movie should be called a thriller, right? Wrong! No thrills, no chills, not even, "Hey, I didn't know that was going to happen!" The previews make you think that there is something you'll enjoy, but trust me, there isn't.

Now, strong points: not exactly strong, but almost. The minor, supporting performance by Steve Buscemi and the villainous role of Rick (scary name!) by Vince Vaughn....I want my [money] back! (Yeah, thats right, I saw this sorry excuse for a movie on the big screen).

Summary: Wow, definetely surprising!
Review: ... I came into this thinking it would be corny and dumb. What did I know? This was suspenceful and good! Don't listen to what everyone else who's ditching this movie! Frank Morrison(Travolta) is just a normal parent who has a suspision for his son's(O'Leary) step father(Vaughn). A suposively dangerous man. I think it was a good movie, kept you guessing till the end, I recomend it!!

Summary: JOHN Is Not Bad (As You Might Think) in This B-Thriller
Review: John Travolta's recent track record including "Battlefield Earth" "Swordfish," to say nothing of "Lucky Numbers," may put off many viewers from this film. To make matters worse, his nomination for the Razzie Award in the year of 2002 for his "worst" performances in that so-so action 'Swordfish" and "Domestic Disturbance," a film in case now, would dampen your expectation for the latter. The fact is, it is not Travolta who should be blamed for the luckwarm reception of the thriller; for he is actually in a good shape.

Before you read this, you should not expect that this film, despite its suggestive title, does not handle with domestic violence, a socially important matter. "Domestic Disturbance" is in fact based on a very classic thriller setting, namely "a witness nobody believes" and it has been used in a various fashion since very old days, and you will soon remember such masterpieces as "The Lady Vanishes" by Hitchcock. But sorry, "Domestic" hardly reaches that sphere in spite of the remarkable efforts from Travolta and skilled director Harold Becker.

The plot is about a boy Danny, whose mother (Teri Polo) newly married a respected, successful businessman Rick (underrated Vince Vaughn ... isn't this typecast? You judge it). But as some mysterious guy (always superb Steve Buscemi) shows up unexpectedly at the wedding ceremony, things get strange, and Danny claims that he did see something that he shouldn't see, which might mean that this boy is in danger in the domestic place where he should feel most safe.

Though the premise is interesting, and the backdrop of a beautiful seaside town is used effectively to create the feeling of small, traditional community, the film's script misses every crutial point which should have struck the keynote of making a good suspense. In short, if you are used to watching good thrillers, you would gasp with despair at those characters' stupidity that easily matches that of cheap horror flicks, in which victims run upstairs in their house instead of immediately going out of it. I cannot reveal the precise nature of what I mean; only I can say that accustomed viewers can anticipate what comes on the screen literally scene by scene, while movie tries to confuse us desperately. Whatever happened to Mr. Becker, whose sizzling "Sea of Love" belongs to the height of first-rate thrillers? The last scene of this film looks like badly done hyperbole of another famous thriller starring Glen Close.

As I said before, Travolta convincingly expresses the father's worry about his apparently misunderstood boy deftly, and as for that point, he doesn't deserve the Razzi nomination. The real find here is, however, the newcomer Matthew O'Leary (to be seen in the sequel of "Spy Kids") whose acting as an unhappy kid with insucure emotions remind us of young DiCaprio in "This Boy's Life." He and other cast deserve a much better script.

Summary: Oh Dear, Travolta Shines as Mr Nice Guy
Review: but what a diabolically bad movie, utterly predictable plot, miserably cliched characters and a third rate script, not even interesting locations. In total, ...avoid in the cinema...

Summary: Great movie!
Review: I thought this movie was very good. The acting talent of John Travolta really shined through in this film and it is good to see him in an emotional role for he does it so well. You just do not see enough of it. I also thought Vince Vaughan was fabulous. The looks in his eyes were cold and mean and he did such a good job of making you hate him. Matthew O'Leary did a good job, too especially since I do not recall having seen him in any other movies before. This movie is basically about a divorced couple that have a son that is always trying to bring the two back together by lieing and getting attention through school and what-not. Well, his mother marries Vince Vaughan and he turns out to be someone cold that is hiding an awful past, pretending to be someone he's not. Then, rather unexpectedly, one of his partners from his past appears and makes his life not-so-Brady-Bunch-like. The bond between the characters John Travolta and Matthew O'Leary portray is wonderful. Through the suspense and emotional distress, I think that is what impressed me the most. Father and son, completely bonded and understanding of one another. It was great. AND they even clicked on screen. I highly recommend this movie, the acting is great and the suspense is good.

Summary: awesome movie
Review: i have never had a movie send chills up and down my back like this. it moved very fast, it was a chilling edge-of-your-seat thrillride. it was a bit short, perhaps, but nevertheless a great movie. possibly the best movie of the year.

Summary: The Best Horror Film Of 2001.
Review: Honestly, I had chills going down my spine while watching Domestic Disturbance about 2 weeks ago, and both the audience and I agreed that this film was worth the (price of) admission. The performances are strong, the script is perfectly set, and the plot is scary as hell could ever be in a bad imagination. I really had a great time watching this movie, and I think that you'll enjoy it also.
