Summary: simply the best
Review: For life to spontaneously apear on earth there whould first have to be hundreds of millions of protien molcuels of the ninth configuation. But given the size of earth it whould take 10 to the 243 power billions of years for just on of these molcuels to apear. "This in my mind is far greater than to simply believe in a god." quotes Stacy Keach, in a film that contemplates that if God exists why is so much hate in the world? If there is so much hate in the world, is there any love? Whould a man give his life for a another? Dose God love us, is he a loving god? And do we have any salvation, or are we all bound to hell for our sins. These are matters that are important and the film displays them in a most engrossing way. This film is so good you can't miss a word of it, and you won't. This is simply the best film I have ever seen. I have three words to you. "Don't miss it."

Summary: Madness and death are themes that always intrigue me.
Review: The issues of who we are and where are we going are the only really important ones in my book -- and this film explores both. If you liked this film you'll also like King of Hearts, Harold and Maude and Choose Me.

Summary: The BEST movie ever!!!
Review: I saw The Ninth Configuration for the first time when I was thirteen. Ever since then, it has been my favorite movie. It just spoke to me. The movie was a perfect example of how we should live. You've got to realize that there is always salvation. It is just a matter of how willing you are to get it.

Summary: Impact over time
Review: This is a movie I saw in 1982, and the impact it let on me over time was remarkable. As an atheist it was shocking the last scene in which the Colonel finds a medal in his hand. 17 years have passed and I've seen hundreds of movies, but yet I think this movie is one of the greatest of all times.

Summary: The worst part about this film is it has to end
Review: Perhaps the most astounding film I have ever seen. I would like to see the extended version that is around, but take what I get. I was turned on to this film by a friend; a favor I can never repay adaquately.

Summary: Excellent
Review: This has got to be the greatest movie of all time! I enjoyed all the dialogue in it -- there's a lot of witty remarks, comebacks, and jokes. The acting by Colonel Fell is terrific. But I think the thing that gets me the most are the exchanges between the two main characters, Colonel Kane and Captain Cutshaw. They discuss the problem of how a loving God could possibly create a world in which "all of creation is based on dog eat dog, and the little fish are eaten by the big fish", a world in which people suffer. There's a very human element to this movie, even though it is sometimes advertised as a horror movie. The movie as a whole, but especially the final scenes, are very touching.

Summary: Funny, thought provoking, and a movie you'll never forget.
Review: I originally saw this film in the theatre and never forgot it. If you have the chance to see it, don't pass it by. Stacy Keach is wonderful and yet you can't help to feel sorry for him. He manages to save the men from their insane lives for brief moments and finds his own salvation during the process. The barroom fight scene is the most memorable you will ever see.

Summary: Sleeper for the Thoughtful
Review: A secluded retrofit for the battle fatigued who might be less than forthcoming with the real reasons they are present. Enter Keach. The first scene, as he drives up, is amazing. The actors, many who you will immediately recognize, are great. The writing witty, introspective and clipped to the right pace. Blatty's sleeper is a wonderful respite from the wholly violent, non- thinking films all to present today. I enjoy the film and have seen it many times. One word of caution. Once started, don't leave. There are many points that speed by and if you miss 'em, well, you will have missed the movie. Great flick.

Summary: A must-see that is, sadly, virtually unknown!
Review: During the Vietnam war, an abandoned castle in the Pacific Northwest becomes the site of a highly experimental mental hospital for shell-shocked soldiers (who may be faking). Psychiatrist Colonel Kane (Keach), arrives to take over and begins to earn the grudging trust of the patients, especially Capt. Billy Cutshaw (Scott Wilson). Thing is, Kane's got issues of his own... This is a brilliant movie which manages to combine humor, violence, madness and theological angst with a what-the-hell-was-that pace that will put blisters on your eyeballs. Unfortunately, for some reason, this film is virtually unknown. If not for the wonder of cable TV, I'd've missed it myself, but now it's one of my all-time favorites. In short, SEE THIS MOVIE! NOW!
