Summary: Wonderful tale of perserverce and patience
Review: A wondeful tale about a guy who won't let the fact he got a tough deal of the cards in life get him down. I was wishing that he'd find a girl and get married but that my heart went out to him even though he would think its pity, its not. He has all the classic virtures of America, if you work hard and are honest life will treat you right. It's wonderful when it works that way. ...

Summary: Wonderful Movie
Review: Door To Door is about a salesman with cerebral palsy whose name is Bill Porter. Bill travels around door to door selling products for the Watkins Company. On the first day, most people say that they don't need anything. Then Bill sits down for lunch and sees that his mother wrote Patience and Persistence on his sandwich. He decides not to give up. That day he sells some products to a customer and they become friends. He becomes a wonderful salesman and makes many friends. In the middle near the end of the movie, his back is getting bad and so he needs to hire someone to help deliver packages. This is where a girl named Shelly comes in. Bill and Shelly become quick friends and are a wonderful team. You'll just have to watch the rest to find out what happens. This is an execellent movie; it has funny parts and touching parts. What's better is that this is based on a true story. I highly recommend this DVD. William Macy portrays Bill Porter wonderfully!

Summary: If you Understand Cerebral Palsy ....BRILLIANT FILM
Review: Door to door is the story of Bill Porter who has Cerebral Palsy. This movie portrays Bills struggle in being accepted into the norms of society and being able to excercise his right to live a normal life. Bill Porter struggles to get a Job as a Door to Door salesman but with Patience and Persistence he gets his position. He takes the worst route ever, and encounters many problems along the way. Bill truly showed patience as he never let the doors slamming in his face or the lady with the stains on her couch bring down his esteem. Bills mother was a very strong character as well, we see how she drills patience and persistence into Bill's head. Later on after being diagnosed with Alzheimers Bill mother is faced with her own stereotypical images as well. A realistic and well done film, an emotional story of one mans fight to be valued by those in the community.
.........Must Watch Film............

Summary: A Great Movie!
Review: From someone who is personally aflicted with cerebral palsy, I have to say this movie was wonderful, honest, well-acted, well-written. It was just very good overall. I think William H. Macy was very good as Bill Porter and certainly deserved his emmy.
If you like this movie, please take a look at my book, "Prose From A Grandson To A Senior Fellow", which is about living with C.P. and being inspired by those who truly believe in me, just as Bill Porter was.

Summary: Love Never Goes Extinct
Review: I had heard the story of Bill Porter before I knew his name. I knew the work of William Macy, and that is what pushed me over the edge to view this movie version of the tale of Bill Porter's life from "wanting to be a salesman" to "Salesman of the Year" to "Dinosaur" and finally, full circle, to being an Invisible Thread who wove love into individuals, into a neighborhood and finally into the hearts of viewers like me.

William Macy's performance is excellent, I forgot he was William Macy about 15 minutes into the movie. Helen Mirren was remarkable as his mother - a big inspiration whose presence is felt even after her death both by Bill and by us each time we see him remember her (which is regularly.)

Kyra Sedgwick is luminous as Shelly - early in the movie her character is quite young and she pulls it off beautifully - and we watch her develop into "just a job to keep me going through college" to being much, much more as she matures into an adult side by side, heart to heart with Bill.

The syncronicities - again, woven by the thread of Bill, might have been seen as "accidental" - until we know the heart of the man. Salespeople in all areas ought to watch this movie - it isn't about the products, its about honoring people and showing them how their lives can be impacted by those products.

Finally - this movie reminded me that Love will never go the way of the dinosaur.

Thank you - everyone involved in this film.
