Summary: entertaining
Review: I enjoyed this film because it is so often the way I feel living in Switzerland. Switzerland is so beaurocratic with the most silly laws, you just cant' help feeling like Douglas. To the film ... on the one hand he is the bad guy because of the way he goes about things; on the other hand he never asked to be rubbed up the wrong way. In each case, he is correct is what he believes in. What is wrong when he accidentaly sits down for a rest on that gangland's piece of turf ? All he is trying to do is get home after a hard day at the office. His love for his child also wins sympathy. I good film, but nothing more than that.

Summary: One of those days...
Review: I think we all have those days where everything just seems to go wrong and things get to you. Just pray you don't go over the edge like Douglas does in this one. One day everything just comes tumbeling down for him. The Whammy Burger scene is, as pointed out by many other reviewers truly funny. I also liked the scene where he tried to get change for the phone. Don't watch it on a bad Monday...just kidding :-)

Summary: A Great Movie
Review: Michael Douglas does a great job of displaying someone being pushed over the edge. Robert Duvall gave a stellar performance as well. This movie portrayed society in a big city very well. This movie is a must see. The Whammy Burger scene is hilarious.

Summary: What a movie!
Review: I remember the very first time I saw this movie. I was about 16 or 17 years old and was flipping through channels on cable TV. All of a sudden, I saw this wacky scene with Michael Douglas losing it in a convenience store owned by a Korean guy. I watched on through Bill Foster's (Douglas) walk through the city; through Gangland (as it was called), Whammy Burger, an Army-Navy store owned by a racist Nazi, a rich folks' villa, and more. Falling Down is a well-written, superbly performed film about an ordinary man driven over the edge. I'll admit, I have only seen a handful of Michael Douglas movies, but I will still say that this was one of the most powerful performances I have ever seen him in. If you don't see this movie for any other reason, see it because Michael Douglas is the MAN!

Summary: an American masterpiece
Review: I would have to say this movie is worth the price of admission. It made me want to join DeFens and the Michael Douglass army. DeFens is the license plate on Douglass' car. The movie points out how stupid some things are, like the whammy burger.

Summary: One of those days
Review: A very watchable film that makes you wonder what would happen if...it was one of those days. How many have sat in traffic queues and just wanted to get out? How many people have felt frustrated by seemingly unnecessary roadworks? Or fast food diners with pointless rules?

On first viewing I enjoyed the film, feeling some sympathy for the character. As the film unfolded though, I was saddened to discover that there was more to Michael Douglas' character than met the eye. I think it diminished the film to reveal that the character was quite disturbed beforehand.

I still find it good viewing and enjoy some of the scenes when taken at face value - 85 cents for a soda! Reminded me of a trip to London, on a hot day when I needed to buy a cola (chilled) and paid £1 for it (about $1.60)...not that I tore up the place with a baseball bat!

Good performances from both the main and the supporting cast ensure that the film is not a complete loss.

The DVD is a good transfer, the picture quality is excellent. The only downside is that this is a basic package - a trailer being the only extra on the DVD.

Summary: more g****e from Joel Schumacher
Review: Regardless of whether this film "foreshadows" numerous recent shooting sprees, it is still stupid and manipulative. I've always been a fan of Michael Douglas, but this film wastes his talents, not to mention those of Barbara Hershey and Tuesday Weld, who spend all of their screen time having overwrought phone conversations. This film offers absolutely no insight into what motivates the Michael Douglas character, because Schumacher manipulates viewer reaction through a barrage of absurd stereotypes that are a sure bet to threaten middle-class security: a surly Korean convenience store owner, gun-toting Mexican hoodlums in a low-rider, barely cognizant fast food workers, and a slimy Nazi leather shop owner. I stopped watching the film after this last, particularly heavy-handed sequence. Even worse than the director's much-maligned 8mm.

Summary: the funniest movie in the world.
Review: This is a great movie, and extremely funny. Micheal Douglas's face is hilarious. I know its supposed to be a more serious movie, but I couldn't take it when he he was at the fast-food restaurant, it was just tooo funny. -Thanx! :)

Summary: Just a great movie.
Review: This movie is the best. Everything you see is exactly what you would like to do. From the service station to the Wammy Burger to the final scene. You will love it.
