Summary: Denzel's Thrilling Emotional Ride!
Review: John Q is by far my most favorite movie ever. Denzel Washington did an amazing job in this film, and I believe he deserves an Oscar for his role. Kimberly Elise, who played Denzels wife, did a fantastic job too. James Woods and Anne Heache both did great job as the evil heartless characters. The director, Nick Cassavetes, did a superb job with picing this film together, because there is not one dull moment in the whole entire film.

John Q's main character is John Q. Archibald, played by Denzel Washington. He has one son and a wife, but they are very poor. John works hard all day long just to make his family happy and have food on the table. One day at there son's baseball game, their son grabs at his heart and collapses. Instantly John runs into the field and picks up his son, he then runs to his car with his wife and drives to the hospital.

At the hospital they find out their son's heart is three times the size of a normal nine years olds heart and that he will need a heart transplant. If that isn't enough they find out that they do not have enough money to pay for it. They ask about there HMO and find out that they wont help either. When home they decided to sell stuff form their own home to raise the money. They do but they are still low and John asks his boss for a raise but the boss says he doesn't see how its possible.

John begs and begs Anne Heache to put his son's name on the donor list but she always says no. John's wife tell him he has to do something about.

When talking to James Woods, the surgeon, he pulls out a gun and pushs the surgeon into a room and locks the doors with chains. The guard sitting there doesn't do anything about it and John locks all the doorsup so no one can get in or out. The emercancy room he locked himself in has patients. Now comes trouble because John didn't think of the patients in there.

The exictment grows and John doesn't give up, but I wont tell you anymore. I can't wait till this film comes out on DVD because I absolutly can not wait any longer.

Summary: Denzel should get an Oscar for this one, too!
Review: This movie has everything you need in one! I laughed the whole time I watched it! Denzel gave us another great perfor-
mance! Not only does Denzel deserve another Oscar, but so does
James Wood! Nothing was wrong with this movie, except how long
it is. It needs to be longer, because of all the great perfor-
mances! If you haven't seen this movie, you need to immediately!

Summary: John Q
Review: I am employed in the healthcare field, and have seen many John Qs have problems wh insurance . Unfortunately, most of us do not even consider our health insurance until we really need it, and then it it is too late to do anything about it. The insurance companies are business that are playing with our lives in order to make money. It is a fact that insurance pay doctors big bonuses to not to refer patients. These doctors have a vested interest to keep you from treatment. John Q did a great job in displaying this medical scam on Americans.

Summary: Denzel.....We can all see why He got Best Actor...Awesome!!!
Review: Obviously if there is a movie with Denzel Washington in it, it is going to be worth watching. No matter what happens there is going to be great acting. I wasn't sure at first what to expect from this movie, because the trailers gave away alot of information. I was shocked to find out that there was much more to it than I thought. The story had alot of twists and turns, and things happened that were not released to the public on the trailers. Great job Denzel. I am glad you won Best Actor for it, and think that you deserve to call yourself one. Anyone who hasn't seen this movie, expect a shocking performance, because that is just what your going to get! Enjoy!

Summary: But we thought money was no object when it comes to kids!
Review: This movie exposed a lot of things about our health care system that wasn't common knowledge. It revealed how HMOs keep costs down by rewarding doctors for not doing certain tests on patients. Also, how people can be released from hospitals to just go home to die just because they don't have enough health insurance. You always read about people being flown in from other countries to have operations to save their lives. Either it is done free of charge by the hospital or the bills are picked up by some charitable foundation.

Summary: John Q: An Excellent Movie
Review: This movie was great! It combined drama with a little comedy thrown in. Every parent can relate to Denzel's character, and the ending is sure to bring a tear to your eye.

Summary: Denzel, good as usual, but this movie doesn't deliver
Review: The movie starts out with a promising premise: that of an incompetent medical care system and bureaucracy that has forgotten about what they do best: curing the sick, and Denzel's boy is the one who must suffer from the flaws of this system. Early into the movie, it appears we will see the results of this look--but those disappear as soon as John Q (Quincy) Archibald, as a grieving and desperate father, takes over the emergency room at gun point. From hereon, the dialogue becomes notably worse and small subplots surface and disappear as quickly as they appear (such as the police chief and Duval clash). The conversations between John and his prisoners are meaningful, but are mostly kept to nods and agreements from the prisoners and medical staff. It makes the dialogue stilted and almost unimportant, though that is the farthest thing from the truth.

The heart of this movie is about exploration of the problem, but with it trying to go in so many directions with action, drama, soap opera, and preacher-feature, it ends up feeling unfocused and rushed. The action sequences are short and badly done. The drama elements, present through out, are given life by Denzel's versatile face and charisma. The soap opera elements are numerous, ranging from cliches ("white Bronco"--OJ Simpson) to the stereotyping of the "common, hardworking American man" vs "the rich, undeserving, elitist, and stupid man," who can afford to pay for the operation, and smile happily all day long. There's even a scene where a nurse congratulates the heart surgeon for risking his career, and she hugs him. These can be ignored to a certain extent, but their frequency is frightening. The preachy-quality of the film is lamentable, because the strongest message comes from what is shown, not discussed. The sick son is shown dying for nearly half the movie. John Q is shown as a hero by the media; he is respected by his hostages. You hear the machines constant beeping as the little boy's blood pressure drops. And we get many feel-good speeches from the nurses, reporter, wife, and hostages...too many to count. Somehow, I think what the director strived for did not meet his vision, which might've been that of a tragedy, but made happy "because the public like it so."

Summary: John Q is an awesome everyday life problem!
Review: Denzel Washington gave the preformance of a life time, playing the role of a reality that most lower class families can associate to in some form or fashion. He shows that family and self preservation come before and above all laws. It was a real life problem with a fictional, but possible ending. To be willing to give your life for a child is something every parent never wants to face, and it was done with style in the films. I give it 2 thumbs up.
