Summary: So Who Cares!
Review: Just watched my copy of PANIC ROOM for the second time. I gave it a month or so since the first viewing to see if it would hold up -- did it ever! It has been pointed out to me that the diabetic schtick is ridiculous! Don't know - don't care! The movie once again kept me interested. The camera movement is fantastic and the Superbit transfer and DTS soundtrack are superb. I guess I'm just a sucker for good acting, cinemaphotography, editing, and directing. Some people think it is full of plot holes. The scene with the police at the door is fascinating. One cop is portrayed as a who-cares guy, while the one "questioning" Jodie is a bit more astute. The first time I was on edge waiting for her to blink her eyes, but the dialogue about the "training" they receive tipped him off. That's why they came back. And speaking of coming back, so did Whitaker's character. There is so much going on in this film that it does take multiple viewings to "catch" it all. I lood forward to my next viewing!

Summary: renter...
Review: Panic Room was a short film done with a big budget. The story? Uninspiring. It's your basic home robbery. As a big fan of Fincher's commercial and cinematic work, I was quite dissapointed. Fincher's impressive camera work was wasted in this movie, even forced. Foster was good but too bad her character lacked depth. Rent it if you must.

Summary: Panic Room puts you to sleep before ever scaring you
Review: I recently rented this movie on DVD, and I'm sure glad that's all I did. The plot is about as shallow as you can get, burglars break in, mom and daughter lock themselves in panic room. The rest of the movie is filled with the burglars cussing one another because they can't break in. There's also many other plot holes, for instance, when Foster is finally able to call 911, they put her on hold! unbelievable! After the movie ended I hoped for some interesting features on the making of, but nothing. All you get is a trailer and some worthless filmographies. The movie wasn't scary in the least, so if you want some good sci-fi thrillers of recent, rent The Others or wait for The Ring to come out on DVD.

Summary: One Fine Thriller
Review: I enjoy this movie more every time I watch it. It is an absolute must see for anyone who loves films. The plot is intricate, clever and very suspensful. I thought this movie was excellent: the story, the actors and the ending. If you haven't seen Panic Room you are truly missing out.

Summary: Just like Home Alone except....
Review: it's not a comedy and there are no little kids.

That's what came to my mind when Jodie Foster turns the tables on the not so clever intruders shortly after she and her daughter lock themselves in the "panic room". Oddly enough, there is even a reference to Joe Pesci who happens to be 1 of the bad guys in Home Alone.

This movie has good atmosphere, i.e. a big creepy house, a stormy night, and a trio of nasty guys trying to steal some loot from the house. Overall it was a good movie - good acting, suspense, and a decent plot. The ending left something to be desired, too many loose ends to suit me, with Jodie and her daughter peacefully looking through the newspaper for a new house.

Not much extra on the DVD, just a trailer and filmographies. I would recommend renting it, not buying unless you're a fan of Jodie Foster.

Summary: NOT worth your time/money
Review: You have your typical twists and turns in a suspense movie with a bad guy that just doesn't die, obvious but unsuccessful attempts by the director to build suspense (this happens quite often and gets very annoying), and leaving the audience questioning each other on why the frequent loopholes/ambiguities of the movie. In addition, you have an ending which is abrupt and inconclusive.

Watch this as a one-timer when you're incredibly bored. I would not recommend viewing this with guests.

On a positive note, there are impressive visual effects at the beginning of the movie, but still does not compensate for everything else it lacked.

Bottom Line: Not worth your time. ESPECIALLY not worth your money.

Summary: This is only worth renting, not purchasing.
Review: We watched this movie last night and found ourselves thinking it was pretty ridiculous towards the middle and end. It was barely worth renting, let alone purchasing.
Jodie Foster is a great actress, but we wondered why she chose this movie.

Summary: Okay suspense movie
Review: I'd wanted to see this movie for a long time, but when I finally did watch it, I left feeling pretty disapointed. It starts out pretty well, but with so many inaccuracies about diabetes (the girl didn't need to eat something *with* sugar, she just needed to eat *anything* to raise her blood sugar) and many other letdowns, oddities, and a disapointing ending, I just didn't find it worthwhile.

Summary: its sooooooo scarieee......
Review: running into a panic room when three guys armed are after is not the best plan. Jodie Foster and her daughter(not real daughter) had a another plan to get out of the panic room and the house. But this plan did not work that well. It ended up with gas, flames, and shootings and stabbings and one bad guys finger being squished in a door. well what more could you ask for if your a person who likes freaky + scary + action movies.

Summary: Just ok
Review: Not nearly as exciting as the previews made it seem. There is some tension and a bit of action, but mostly this movie seemed to be a waste of great acting talent. The characters just had nowhere to go. It was entertaining enough to justify renting, however, and I wouldn't say it wasn't worth watching.

Often the problem with these type of "premise" movies is that they just don't have enough to make a full length feature film. What happens is the audience is expected to accept as possible a bunch of "why would they do that?" or "could that really happen?" situations and as they pile up they end up making the story too unbelievable.
