Summary: The very best work Paul Newman has ever done!
Review: I grew up in a small town. Everything about this movie reminded me of my childhood. The characters, played by some very major actors/actresses fit this movie like a glove. Newman, the town smartass, Jessica Tandy, the person who saw the best in Newman's floundering character, Bruce Willis, the arrogant, yet comical nemisis of Newman's character....and yes... Melanie Griffith... attracted by Newman's cloaked kindness and sensitivity.... It just made me laugh and cry at the same time.....

Summary: AN OLD FRIEND
Review: I have been waiting for years for this gem to be released on DVD.
Nobody's Fool is one of my favorite movies of all time. It's one of those timeless, priceless "slice-of-life" movies you can watch again and again and never tire of (like, for me, Grumpy Old Men, Driving Miss Daisy, Love Story, Starman, Waking Ned Divine...).
Sully (Paul Newman) is one of those people you wish you knew in real life. An absolutely great movie.

Summary: One of my favorites...
Review: I love this movie...it is one of my all-time favorites for a variety of reasons. It features a wonderful performance by Paul Newman and a great cast of supporting characters, but the real star is the story. It's a very good reminder of the impact we have on the lives of others, even if we mostly focus on our own challenges, dreams, and daily frustrations. But whether the movie makes a poignant impression on you or not, you can still enjoy it as a fun, touching story...

Summary: Paul Newman at His Best
Review: I loved this movie, which is both funny and moving, when I saw it in the theaters. Paul Newman has never been better and he deserved the Oscar--I think the problem was not enough voters saw the film. We don't see many characters like the flawed one that Newman plays in Hollywood films these days--he's flawed but he is also totally sympathetic. There are wonderful supporting performances as well, fine writing by director Robert Benton, and a lovely score by Howard Shore. The movie is based on a good novel by Richard Russo, and Benton was able to capture the spirit of Russo's long book.

Summary: Real life, real people; simply put...a really great film!
Review: I won't wax poetic for 1000 words about this movie. If you are looking for a movie that is well directed, well acted, and just makes you laugh and walk away feeling good, get this movie. One of the few movies that I liked as much or more than the book. There, I've said it, so now you go add it to your cart!

Summary: Under stated relavance of the small occasions in life
Review: I've read all of Richard Russo's works and Nobody's Fool is a funny melancholy story about life's opportunities and what they bring no matter how large or small and what in the end may really matter when we reflect back on our lives.

Summary: Real life, real people; simply put...a really great film!
Review: If you want to see how real people live then just watch this film. This movie is one of my all time favorites. Growing up in central NY, I can tell you that this movie captures the people, their wit, and as I said before, their lives.

There are people who think they are important because they have important jobs. The reality is that the most important thing we can do is to help others and to make a difference, day in, day out, in little ways. That is what Sully does, and he himself doesn't recognize how important he is.

Paul Newman is excellent, as always.

The DVD is missing of bonus materials and since this movie is unlikely to ever get a "Collector's Edition" that is sad. However, the movie itself is bonus enough.

Summary: Worn to Perfection
Review: It just doesn't get much better than this. The movie is a very true adaptation of the extraordinary book by Richard Russo ("Straight Man," his follow up, is also a must-read) written and directed beautifully by Robert Benton. The casting is perfect, but Paul Newman is the stand out. His attention to the tiny details that bring the part alive is amazing to watch. This movie is guaranteed to please.
