Summary: Good, but not great
Review: I just saw this movie yesterday. I went into it in a really excited mood, but as I sat there I felt somewhat bored throughout most of the movie. There were a number of good scenes, but many of them felt somewhat awkward; for example, during a certain scene with a gun the theatre was laughing. I felt that it was supposed to be dramatic, but it came off as comedic. I also felt that the kid in the movie was trying far too much to be the kid from the Sixth Sense. But, there was some gold amid the lead. The ending was extremely powerful, it seems that the director has a knack for those suprise endings. Unfortunately, this isn't enough to make up for the slow pace and unbelievablility of the rest of it. I still don't understand why the drugs weren't in that guy's pockets?

This movie might be good to rent, but I'd skip the $5-8 and long (though probably not for long) lines that it would cost to see it in the theatres.

Summary: Unbreakable is Unbeatable
Review: I just saw this movie in the theater. It was outstanding. The plot was fantastic, as I was intrigued from the first time I saw the trailer. There were twists and turns all along the way and the acting was superb. I will admit, though, it did tend to drag on in some places, but if you make it to the end, it's great. The surprise ending makes the movie, in my opinion. Like in The Sixth Sense, it in a way made everything come together. Some of the questions you may have asked during the movie were cleared up by it and the climactic action scene also. It lived up to all my expectations. M. Night Shyamalan even makes a cameo as a drug dealer. And, hey, it has Samuel L. Jackson, so it can't be all bad, right?

Summary: Actually fell asleep in the movie theater
Review: First, the movie theater was 3/4 empty - on a Sunday after Thanksgiving! I remember seeing The Sixth Sense twice and both times the theater was filled. Listening to comments from viewers when we left the theater after Unbreakable, I realized that everyone hated it as much as I did. I was very excited to see this movie because they filmed it in Philadelphia and I actually got to watch some of the filming that was done in the "Limited Edition" comic book store (actually an empty restaurant).

For only the second time in my entire life, I fell asleep at a movie. I had to get up in the middle to go buy some popcorn and soda to keep me awake for the 2nd half (which in all honesty, was better than the first half).

The movie is dark - very dim lighting and the pace is excruciatingly slow. Bruce Willis is fine - he does a good job of portraying despair but Samuel L. Jackson (with the worst hair do I've ever seen in my entire life) is completely wooden.

The ending is a surprise but managed to make members of the audience say "so what" instead of "oh my gosh!"

This is going to be a movie that you either love or hate - and it doesn't have anything to do with liking "intellectual" movies over movies such as "Dumb and Dumber." I love the former and hate the latter and I still hated this movie!

Summary: Sixth Sense: The short-live thriller classic........
Review: I was blown away when I saw the Sixth Sense. It was one of the best movies I have ever seen...the surprise ending was amazing. I went back countless times to see it in theatres, then immediately bought it when it was released. So when "Unbreakable" was going to begin playing, I waited, waited, and waited some more. (I actually rented a movie and wound up watching the trailer for "Unbreakble" more than the movie itself.) But anyway, I saw it yesterday, three days after its release, hoping the endign wouldn't be spoiled.

I've been waiting for this film for a long time, so like anybody wanting a "Sixth Sense" classic, I had very high expectations. The film, if you don't know yet, is about David Dunne, (Bruce Willis), who is the only survivor in a train crash. 131 other passengers die. He is sought out by Elijah Price, (Samuel L. Jackson), who offers him an extrodinary truth to the matter. Since Price has broken over 54 bones in his body, (60 by the time the movie's over), he cannot go out much. Instead, he falls in love with comic books, and when the train incident occurs, he offers Dunne and extroadinary explanation: "I brake my bones. But what if there is somebody on the other end who is the opposite of me? What if somebody can't break their bones? What if they're unbreakable?"

Basically, that's his explanation. The film moves faster than "Sixth Sense", and it's about the same length. As the movie progresses, Dunne finds himself believing Price more and more; his son believed him from day one.

I love this movie, and that's about all I can say. The acting is good and sometimes spooky. The scenes that are depicted are also disturbing at times, even more than "Sixth Sense". Most people like his preceding film better, but I think differently. This movie is so much better than "Sixth Sense" that I cannot even begin to describe how. However, the shaky camera is still noticable in "Unbreakable". The same thing happened in "Sixth Sense" and I don't know if he wanted to do this or what, but it does get annoying after awhile. But I must add that the comedy is very funny in this movie...better than "Sixth Sense". Much better now that I think about it. And if you're looking for another surprise ending, you get it with "Unbreakable." It's not as breathtaking as "The Sixth Sense", but once I started on my way home, I seemed to like it more...

"Unbreakable" is one of the better movies I have seen in my young life of fifteen years. People may argue differently and even try to persuade you not to see it, but if you have any kind of curiosity to see whether "Sixth Sense" can be topped, go see "Unbreakable." You won't be let down...I wasn't, and I don't think you will be either. So when this movie's all done and over with next year, "The Sixth Sense's" 'unbreakable' record of being the best thriller will...ummm...let's say...

.................

SHATTERED!

Enjoy.

Summary: Night uses same techniques as in 6th Sense...
Review: First half of the film I enjoyed what he was building... but was definitely disappointed in the 2nd half... I figured out the color scheme he was using (alas, 6th Sense technique (red)), green=good, all other primary solid colors = villians and thought that was kind of a rip-off of his first movie... Was hoping for something similar but not an exact copy of his earlier techniques... Ending with the sub-titles was very weak and left the audience "That's it?!?". But this is a planned trilogy so that's why there's a lot left to be desired... I have faith in Night to develop this further... The battle has only begun!

Summary: expectations met
Review: This is a wonderful follow up to the Sixth Sence. Anyone that did'nt like it, did'nt get it. This was art instead of cheese. My husband and I both loved it. Look for the color symbolism.

Summary: They called me Mr.Glass
Review: I don't know how to go about writing a review without giving too much away, so here it goes. Bruce Willis stars as David, the sole survivor of a horrible train accident. He is approached by Elijah (Samuel L.Jackson), who proposes a very strange explanation as to why it happened. I don't want to say anything else about the plot before I end up giving it all away. But comic books play a major role in the film, as also does Elijah's brittle bone disease. Now I have to stop! But anyways, I thought it was a very good movie. Although M.Night Shyamalan (I hope I spelled that at least a little correctly) will never be able to top 'The Sixth Sense', I think this is a wonderful sophmore effort. The film is all based on such a simple idea, and then it spirals into a rather complicated web, much like 'Sense'. The surprise ending probably won't knock your socks off, some people might even see it coming, but it is still a very worthwhile movie.

Summary: The thinking man's comic book movie
Review: I suspect my grade will go up in time -- this movie, like "The Sixth Sense," requires a bit of thinking about after it's over.

And, also like "The Sixth Sense," it's hard to talk about this movie due to the risk of saying too much.

I will say this, as it occurs in the first 15 seconds of the movie, before even the credits begin: The film opens with a discussion of comics in America today, with text talking about the number of issues sold, how many hours a comic collector will read comics in their lifetime, and so on.

"Unbreakable" is a movie about superheroes. Sort of.

This isn't a gritty "real life superheroes" in the vein of "The Watchmen." For all its dark sets and whispered dialogue, "Unbreakable" has more in common with "gosh wow" comics than it does grim 'n gritty stuff. That's only natural, since the movie is about hope and the possibility that there are, among us ... well, to say more would be to give it away, although I suspect most people can guess.

As with "The Sixth Sense," there is a twist at the end, but it's not the key to the whole movie, unlike in the previous film.

And, as with "The Sixth Sense," the movie is more than a clever concept and good writing, although it has both. Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson, Robin Wright Penn and that little boy -- I was almost expecting Haley Joel Osment in this -- all do outstanding work, making what could be flat characters into real people. For all of the comic book tropes at work here -- the alliterative name of the protagonist, the uniform he wears that gives him a classic silhouette, and so on -- the film never feels like a gag or a gimmick, and it's the quality work of the actors that elevates it away from schticky territory.

This is absolutely the smartest, most mature comic book movie ever, and a film for even those who find comic book movies abhorent to begin with.

Thoughtful, thought-provoking and a film well worth seeing.

Summary: M. Night Shyamalan Does It Again!
Review: Let's face it, "the Sixth Sense" is a hard act to follow. And while "Unbreakable" doesn't surpass its predecessor, taken on its own merits the movie shines. If you go expecting to see a fast-paced actioner, you are going to be disappointed. "Unbreakable" slowly builds up the tension, adding layer upon layer to the mysterious story before pulling the rug out from under you in one of the best "surprise" endings I've seen since, well, "the Sixth Sense." Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson both turn in excellent performances, and Night's direction is at the top of his game. Give it a chance, you will not be disappointed.

Summary: Shyamalan's brilliance shown through Unbreakable
Review: Going home from New York to Philadelphia, David Dunne's (Bruce Willis) train derailed killing hundreds of people, David was the only sole survivor, walking away from the disaster with no wounds at all. David then met Elijah Price (Samuel L. Jackson,) who believe to have the answer to this act of miracle.

M. Night Shyamalan was brilliant in the Sixth Sense, with an original script and wonderful direction, he wooed the critics and audiences alike. In Unbreakable, although you might find some similarities in the way the movie was filmed, but deep down this is a totally different experience.

Willis and Jackson were wonderful in this movie, they both gave an excellent performance, and a convincing portrayl of their characters. I loved everything from the acting, to the soundtrack and the set, Shyamalan did a good job as a storyteller. It might feel a little slow in certain parts, but I like the attention he gave to each scene, without explosions and mindless actions to dazzle the eyes.

Unbreakable probably isn't for everybody, and if you go watch it thinking Sixth Sense #2 with that twist at the end, then you will not enjoy and fully appreciate this film. I do recommend everyone who liked Sixth Sense to see this at least once to witness Shyamalan's brilliance, I'm looking forward to his next work, and I wonder what else he has up his sleeves. I truly hope you will like Unbreakable as much as I did.
