Summary: For those who have forgotten the fun of comic books....
Review: This is another brilliant film directed by Shyamalan. For those who apparently missed the connection with comic books, take any scene from the movie and freeze frame it...it would be a perfect fit for a comic book plate. This movie falls into the same catagory as movies such as "Dick Tracy," and the first "Batman," only with a lot less flash.The film was intentionally dark for a reason, this just emphasized the splashes of color so prominent in modern comics of the same genre. It seems most people have lost the ability to see a movie that does not have thousands of ILM special effects in it without feeling like the have been cheated(don't get me wrong, I love ILM and their effects). This film did exactly what a good sci-fi/fantasy film should.....it suspended reality without violating the parameters of what "could" be possible. For those looking for the gun toting Willis mowing down all foes against all odds, pass on this one; but for those looking for a truly outstanding piece of cinematography, see this one at all costs.

Summary: this movie is the worst movie ever ever EVER!!!
Review: ....This movie was completley sick and twisted and was probably written by someone in a mental institution. This movie was not only boring, farfetched, impossible, and improbable, but in no way did entertain the viewer whatsoever. I sat watching this movie, actually watching the timer under the VCR telling me how many more minutes I would have to endure of this scrutiating pain. Why didn't I just turn it off? So I could write this review to make sure that nobody ever watches that movie. I was hoping for a really cool ending like in Fight Club but NO, it sucked. Thank you Mojo-Jojo

Summary: Dissapointed
Review: I was very dissapointed with the plot and ending...they both went nowhere even though I waited, and waited and... As far as the audio goes, the DVD is supposed to be DD and DTS (I prefer DTS audio to DD). Well, guess what? It's only Dolby Digital 5.1 Tried with two other discs and could not get DTS audio (yes, I have DTS decoding). This will be one of those movies that will be seen again when I'm on social security!!

Summary: Not The Sixth Sense, Just Another Great Film
Review: I did not see this film in the theater, so when I mentioned to a friend that I was glad it was coming out on DVD, he said.."it was horrible...it was about superheros...". Then as I bought the movie the checkout person said "...I didn't know it was about superheros when I saw it, I didn't like it....". Then as I watched the film to it's conclusion, and watched it again a second time the next night, I was glad I trusted Shyamalan to bring the goods. This movie is about more than superheros, in the way The Lord of the Rings is about more than hobbits, and Narnia is about more than talking animals. I am not a student of film, but surely the father-as-superhero theme is universal. The film is also beautifuly shot, acted, and conceived. If anything I thought it was too short. Some of the deleted scenes should have been in the film. I agree that the marketing for the release didn't portray the story well, but I was not dissapointed. If you liked The Sixth Sense for more than the surprise ending, you will like this film.

Summary: Unbearable, Unwatchable, Unbelievable...
Review: Had a similar feeling watching the Sixth Sense - couldnt wait for the movie to end - but i guess we had to "wait" for the big plot twist in the end to justify wasting our time watching this directors films - a mistake I won't be making in the future.

Summary: Solid, not great..
Review: This is definitley a solid supernatural thriller, however I believe it has quite a few weak points. Jackson does his charachter very well, as does Willis, and this film does have its interesting moments. I feel it weakens on the way it tells its story. I think its a good idea for a film, but could have been told a little better and in a little more exciting way. Also, the end and the conclusion between the Willis and Jackson's charachters leaved a lot to be desired, it seemed they told a major part of the entire film with a couple of typed lines across the screen...

Summary: One of the best movies I've seen in years...
Review: I'm in total agreement with another reviewer when he states: "I've never seen a movie that wrapped up so neatly...I was left in total awe by the end of this film. Total awe." Never before have I seen a film that made EVERYTHING subsequent to the ending make perfect sense. The storyline flowed as smooth as silk and kept your attention throughout. I've been subject to many movies (most of them lately) that leave you with a sense of wanting so much more. They never give a sense of full closure and leave you wondering about many details that were left dangling during the film. And even though it's not really a bad thing, too much left up in the air can ruin the film make the difference between a good movie and a great movie. All films should have such a great attention to detail as the director displayed in this one. I just can't say enough about the last scene in Elijah's gallery. Everything comes into complete focus: his garb, his mannerisms, and even the "evil doctor" wheelchair - perfect attention to detail. Willis and Jackson have made very good movies together in the past, but this should rank as one of their all time best. Rent it, buy it - do whatever. Just watch it.

Summary: Would you want to believe?
Review: So was it a movie about a superhero? Once again Shyamalan makes it easy for the viewer to fall into the trap of the obvious. One man, afflicted with extreme physical frailty (Jackson), has been thriving on comic books since his boyhood as they help him cope with his condition. In fact, they could help him make sense out of the world and out of his life--if he can somehow prove to himself that the superhero stuff is all true. When he finds another man who--in utter contrast to himself--possesses unbelievable physical robustness and superhuman strength (in addition to another gift which I don't want to give away), the time has come to believe. And so the viewer believes it too: that the protagonist (Willis) is a superhero. Consequently, the premise for so serious a movie starts looking a little odd. After all, isn't this the stuff of Nickelodeon and goofy costumes? In a word, 'kid stuff', or at least the over-the-top fantastic? But the figures clad in brightly colored tights are just the pop-culture tip of the iceberg of a desire to believe in saviors and champions of good with superhuman powers. And this, unlike the old Batman show, is serious business. What if the burden of a power great enough to be a champion of good in the world fell on a person who never thought he/she was anything but ordinary? Would you believe it readily? Would you be afraid? And if you finally accepted it as the truth, what would you do? This movie moves a little slower, and in subtle ways, as it goes about trying to give answers to such questions--but it moves deeply, and creates an atmosphere that immerses the viewer thoroughly in the emotional turmoil of the hero. Shyamalan's intense style and mesmerizing camera work is all there, and again he presents engaging--and often chilling--insights into characters confronted with the unbelievable. 'Unbreakable' is a highly psychological movie, characterized by the conspicuous absence of major action sequences. While it is easy to get the impression (both from the movie itself and from the accompanying documentation) that it was inspired by superpowered men in flashy attire, it is actually much more concerned with the question why we, like the frail man who loves comic books, but for our own reasons, love those characters, and why we would so much like to believe in them if only we could ... and if we would really like to be one. By the way, if you're looking for another 'Sixth Sense', you've come to the wrong place. But if you, ever since you saw it, have been waiting for the next piece of Shyamalan's exquisite storytelling, you will not be disappointed.

Summary: Actually, an Insult to the Disabled Population
Review: The person most interested in the life and times of the Unbreakable Bruce Willis is Mr. Glass, a fellow whose limbs are so fragile, he fractures bones at the drop of a hat (or fall down a staircase). So far okay, but--and I don't care if I spoil the ending--we learn that he has been causing accidents to see if anyone survives, if anyone is unbreakable. Bruce survives a train wreck without a scratch, so bingo, unbreakable. A look around where Mr. Glass lives shows that he has some kind of arrested development in other areas. The message I got from all this was the following: Handicapped people have handicapped minds and are bad. I thought this sort of thing was supposed to be out of fashion in our enlightened society. For this reason alone, "Unbreakable" shoud be "unrentable". Otherwise, the plot takes a weird turn about three quarters of the way thru when Bruce begins to act like a superhero. Intriguing, but why now, why not from the beginning? How comes he decides to follow where some creeps go, and not others? Could've been better, could've been less offensive.

Summary: Good... but no "The Sixth Sense"
Review: This moving was exactly what I expect from director M.N. Shyamalan. Like his other movie "The Sixth Sense" this movie is dark and filled with twists, fore-shadowing (sic), and metaphoric stories. I really like the fact that Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson were in this movie. Paired up once again for a great job casting and acting. I recommend you rent this movie before buying it unless you are a hardcore Shyamalan follower, and like his directing/writing style. I didn't see this movie before I bought it but I knew if Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson were in it, it's a must see!
