Summary: Well, I'd line up to see the sequels, anyway!<g>
Review: Slow moving, but at least the pace is generally consistent; and an M. Night film is always interesting to just _watch_, stylistically. In some ways, the film almost seems to be a parable concerning a religious transformation--I mean from sceptic to believer. Whether M. Night intended that subtext, I don't know. But I still found it interesting.Music is okay, nothing to write home about--but neither is it supposed to be, I think. Thus, no problems there. I enjoyed watching Willis' character beginning to bond with his wife and child again; and although the opening scene has been criticised, I thought (despite its pretensiousness) it caught the embarrassed tone of extra-marital flirtation very well. The main character is not really a great guy; and the film makes it fairly clear that his marital troubles mostly are his own fault. But he becomes a better person through his strange experiences--not immediately, but over time, in a very natural progression which I appreciated. I specifically am not saying anything about the ending <g>; except that after I picked my jaw off the floor, I decided that in a sad sort of way it fit--and it _had_ been hinted at in numerous places.

Review: This movie is great if you go into it realizing before hand that it is a comic book movie and nothing else. Don't watch it expecting Sixth Sense cause you're not gonna get it. Superhero lovers will enjoy this movie.

Summary: it's really a half a star...
Review: you don't need me to tell you that this movie is terrible - you can read the other reviews. they're much more eloquent. what i wanted to share was why i thought it was a waste of time. yes, i know that my expectations had been raised by the director, the stars, they hype. but beyond the raised expectation syndrome, was (in my opinion) the flawed ending. true, the film was a bit slow, but i would have lived with that had the ending held up it's promise. i'm going do this carefully, so as to not ruin it for those of you who are still curious enough to sit through the film. what you get, instead, is a psychological film that totally ignores the biggest and most important psychological point - what is impact of a traumatic discovery. instead of watching how our hero deals with a truly life altering revelation, we see a quick, pat ending that leaves you perplexed, confused, and annoyed (that you waited this long and through those boring parts). i think they took too long to establish the characters and and build sympathy. the result - woops, we need to have a shorter movie. some bad editting and voila - there you have it. a one star film!

Review: This director/writer is going to go far. He is truly an artist, and his screenplays are incredible. It is a little premature to compare him to Hitchcock, but look for him to be one of the great filmakers of this era!

Review: I liked "The 6th Sense" but Unbreakable is a horrendously bad movie. And not of the "so-bad-it's-good" variety either. Don't get this for a laugh. You'll be disappointed. It's simply a bore. There is no character development. No real plot development. The whole thing is a joke. That is, there's a setup and a punch line at the end. But when you take 2 hours to tell a joke it gets real old quickly. This story is set up and then it drones on for two hours until the (completely illogical and unbelievable) punchline in the final minute of the movie. Come to think of it, the set up is also completely illogical and unbelievable. My guess is that the screenwriter wrote this long BEFORE The Sixth Sense. When Sixth Sense was a hit, he looked under his bed and found his old script, dusted it off and cashed in on his newfound success. Because there is NO WAY anyone could have sold this miserable excuse for a story if they did not have a big hit behind them. Steer clear of this movie. And by the way, it's NOT subtle. That's just a way of excusing this wet blanket of a movie.

Summary: Outstanding piece of work
Review: This movie is one of those films that make you think, as opposed to something like "Dracula 2000," which turned out to be one of the worst movies John Carpenter has ever made. Strangely enough, it explores an area of the psyche which Dracula's story has always exploited, the wish that we all have to be something more than what we are, immortal, powerful, to find out that we have something in us that nobody else has and which makes us something more than anyone else. The ending is totally unexpected, but it makes perfect sense. If you have ever found yourself totally immersed in the kind of stories that classic villain vs hero comic books used to explore (and I say used because what I see now in comic books is not what I saw when I was a kid), this is a movie that you will thoroughly enjoy.

Review: Bruce Willis plays the sole survivor of a train wreck. He is then approached by Samuel L. Jackson, who suffers constantly within his life. Live action comic book with great character development and many plot twists. A trilogy? Come on, the big secret is already out. But would work if done right.

Summary: Good thing the disc isn't unbreakable...
Review: This movie is so boring, so drawn out, and it makes you want to gouge your eyes out with a wooden spoon. Kind of makes you think that Bruce Willis should adopt that Sixth Sense kid and hit the road. Bruce can't stand up on his own, or with Samuel L. Jackson. M. Night Lampshade needs to stop trying to recreate his prior succ-Sense and make a decent movie. Pure hogwash. Waste of money.

Summary: Should be four, but this will balance the total
Review: I won't write much about this movie other than to say it was definately one of the best I saw last year. It was brilliantly scripted and acted, and while the final minute of the film was flawed, it left me thinking for quite a while afterwards. A lot of people have slated this film in earlier reviews, and all I can say to them is "Go and see 'Lara Croft: Tomb Raider', it's utter dross and it sounds like the kind of low brainer, big boobied pap that people like you enjoy". If however you have enjoyed such films as 'LA Confidential', 'Twelve Monkeys', 'The President's Neck Is Missing' or any other film that requires a brain to sit through, then I highly recommend you see this.
