Summary: A Wonderful Story, Brilliantly Executed
Review: I deeply enjoy movies told in a comic book style, like The Crow. I didn't expect that from this movie, and was pleasantly surprised. I had read some critics who had panned the film, and didn't expect much.You're thrust into the life of David Dunn, a man who miraculously survives an incredible train wreck. The story has a slow start because the plot is very subtle. David has some problems, and the true conflict of the plot subtly emerges from each of the lesser issues he faces. The story is told in Shyamalan's slowly revealing style, where we learn little bits about the character nad their personalities. Samuel Jackson plays a fabulously underrated role as a crazed villan, and his carefully crafted character truly makes the story. The movie, throughout, has a comic-book feel in both the story line and the camera work. (Though, I got a little tired of the top-down spinning angle which was reused several times.) The realization and climax of the movie are well-told and wonderfully acted. While I would have enjoyed more examination of the aftermath, the story remained well-balanced. The only thing that bothered me about this movie was the extra features. I felt that the deleted sceens would really have helped build the characters. The scene in the hospital waiting room, for instance, would have explained a lot about the relationship between David and Audrey Dunn... and even between them and their son. I viewed this title DTS mode, and was impressed by both the ambiance and staging of the sound. The menus and special features are wonderfully done. The video occasionaly shows artifacts, but throughout the detail and contrast is phenominal. This is well worth the rent, and a great purchase if you enjoy films of this genre.

Summary: THE BREAKABLE ENDING
Review: When I first went to see the movie in theaters late last year, I expected quite a lot, after all THE SIXTH SENSE was near perfect. The re-teaming of actor Bruce Willis and wonder director Shyamalan had promised a lot...I must admit, I was somewhat disappointed, and thought its "surprise" ending was easily forseen (more on that later). It has been quite some time since I first watched it. So with some time passed and at a buddy's urging, I decided to have another whack at it...My feelings about the film have improved but only slightly. Here's my take on the film and its problem. I love the comic book themes explored in the flick. Heck, one of my favorite films of all time is the first Superman movie and up until about six years ago I had over 3,000 comics in my collection, so that's not a problem. But... Before the movie begins Shyamalan gives viewers some stats about comic books. Hmmm any smart person would then assume that comic books are a major plot device in the movie. Without giving anything away (I hope), it is pretty clear within the first 30 minutes who the hero and villian are and how its going to finish. As with their previous film, subtle (but more obvious) clues point to the climax If you pay attention to most of Sam L. Jackson's scenes with Willis you should be able to see the ending a mile away I have had debates with frends over this and you may not agree with me, after you see the movie, but if you think about how comic books are used in the movie and pay attention to Sam Jackson hopfully you will know what I mean. As for the DVD set, there is only one real standout. The featurette on comcs is too cool to miss Comic Book masters Frank Miller, Dave Gibbons and others talk
about the history and mythology of comics!! Quite frankly, I have no idea why this is a 2 disc set anyway, Everything could have fit on one disc rather nicely.

Summary: Unwatchable
Review: Unbreakable was a truly awful movie that combined a sophmoric plot and Bruce Willis at his worst. Who needs to spend 2 hours watching Bruce wander around moping? Good camera work can't save a bad picture.

Summary: Bad Directing, what else can I say
Review: What do you get when you have great actors and a promising story. Nothing when you combine it with an awful director. This movie is so horrible that it is more enjoyable to make fun of it then watch it.
Main plot ideas are seeminly put in in random order. One of the main mysteries of the whole movie turns out to only come into play for about 2 minutes, and getting to the scene seemed impossible so they have the character waiting around for something to happen. The only one action scene in the movie takes about 5 minutes in all, and all is done with no sound at all except some grunting and the occasional thump. The movie works on character development throughout the movie, only to have nothing to do with it later on.
Maybe this was a hurried film, or low budget, but even so, its bad for that. The story looks as if everything was just thrown in. Dumb and Dumber had a better story. Save yourself the money and buy a movie worth seeing.

Summary: Bruce is good ..the film .. weak
Review: It seems that David Dunne is not immune to male pattern baldness..but it looks cool Bruce so no offence. This movie is meditative and too self conscious to be entertaining. Bruce turns in a great performance though. There is one ludicrous scene where the son threatens his father with a pistol...cutting floor material!

Review: M. Night Shyamalan has done it again! Although this movie is a bit slower than The 6th Sense, it still has you mezmorized waiting for that surprising ending that Shyamalan has becoming known for...and it's definitely worth the wait.

Review: UNBREAKABLE (2000, PG-13= Disturbing Images, Brief Language, and Conceptual Dark Themes) THE CAST: Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson, and Robin Wright Penn. THE GENRE: Suspense/Thriller/Drama/Mystery THE PLOT: After a mysterious and deadly train crash, only one survivor comes out of the ruins. His name is David Dunn (Bruce Willis), a security guard searching for answers to his life. It begins with a note on his car asking how long he's been sick. With no other solution, David heads off to the writer of the note, the breakable boned Elijah, a mysterious comic collector, who is the only one who has an answer. David might be the one to protect the world, the one who literally is- unbreakable. WHAT WORKS: Mysterious original plot working, great acting, directing and a suspenseful twist in the end which brings the whole movie together. WHAT DOESN'T: The film is somewhat slow-paced and you are forced to walk through the film step-by-step which may possibly get annoying. REALITY CHECK: This was obviously supposed to get the same amount of respect and originality applause that Shyamalan's "Sixth Sense" film received, but the average audience found it too strange and slow moving. If it weren't for the success of Sixth Sense, this film probably would never had been made. THE CATCH: For people who don't like too think much in films, this one probably isn't for you. OVERALL: "This entertaining, twist-a-minute caper has awesome plot and character development and a unique sense of style which puts Director M. Night Shyamalan at the top of the line!"

Summary: Dullest movie I have ever seen this year!
Review: The movie starts off with the birth of a baby boy named Elijah (Samuel L. Jackson) but taking a closer look at him his arms and legs are broken for some reason and through out life he gets the name Mr. Glass because he breaks easily. Fast forwarding to the present an unhappy married security guard named David(Bruce Willis) discovers that he is the sole survivor in a train crash and surprised he doesn't have a scratch on him, but when Elijah discovers David he is drawn to him, whilst David doesn't seem to be interested in what he is capable of. Seeing how the two are the opposite of each other Elijah talks about heroes, villains and comic books trying to let David know that he is a born hero and that the gifts he posesses are to be used to help people. The story starts off slow, gets slower and even the ending was slow. With the talent used in this movie I really expected a Die Hard sort of movie, but with one 2 minute action scene and the rest wasted in just talking, correcting each other and constantly talking about comic books this film truly doesn't have anything to give to its audience. David and his wife Audrey went to college together, but David looks at least 10 years older than his wife not to mention their 10/11 year old son Joseph, who wants to shoot his father with a loaded gun just to prove that daddy dearest is Superman!

Review: When I first picked up the movie and saw it in its case i watched it because the cover is the only thing that got to me.It looked like a intence thriller!But guess what it is not.The only thing that was good about it was the ending when everything came togeather. Rachel

Summary: Unbreakable but incomplete
Review: All in all a very watchable movie and a new concept in movie making. However it's TRUE worth will not be known until (and if) the character is explored more deeply as it's the first of a proposed trilogy. On it's own a good movie with fine acting by Willis,and a good plot twist but the ending is only satisfying if you know it's part one of three. Under those circumstances I rate it 4.
