Summary: Center Stage
Review: I feel that Center Stage is the best movie to motivate you in inspiring your dreams. Every time that I watch Center Stage, I have a spirit that I can achieve as long as my heart is put into effort. Compared to Dirty Dancing, it is way up there for the list of great movies. If you are a Dirty Dancing, a Footloose, and a Fame movie fan then this is the movie to see.

Summary: Fun chick flick
Review: When a friend and I decided to sit on her couch eating popcorn and watching this movie, her husband walked through to get something, took one look at the screen and said "Eww, that really IS a chick flick."

Indeed it is, and it isn't even that good, but it sure was a lot of fun to watch. You've seen this story before, with just slight variations--girl pursues her dreams of stardom, meets some guys along the way, discovers her true self in unexpected places. All the elements are there, the stereotypes abound, you find yourself saying "Oh, come ON now!" yet you stay glued.

Part of the appeal comes from second guessing all these familiar devices, but part of it comes from watching these characters say what you wish they'd say in other movies. How many times have you wished the prima donna pushed by her stage mother would just tell mom off this once? The actors, mostly unknowns, do their best with these roles, and I especially enjoyed the actress playing Eva, the outsider who flaunts the rules. The dance routines are fun to watch, the story is clearly not very original, but it's still great fun for you and your girlfriends.

Summary: GREAT movie!
Review: I drive my roommate crazy with watching this movie. This movie is sooo good. It gives you the inside track on the ABA (American Ballet Academy) and ABC (American Ballet Company)! Don't shy away from this movie because you are not a ballet fan, the movie is still great. It doesn't focus too much on the ballet part, it focuses more on the process, competition, and the friendships gained throughout the whole experience. And you know no movie is complete without some type of love triangle! This movie is great and I think you should give this a try. If you liked Fame, you will love Center Stage! Take a chance!

Summary: Center Stage is A Chorus Line for the new millenium
Review: This movie was absolutely amazing. Not only was the dancing perfect and extremely energetic, but the acting was superb.Although there were some scenes in which parts of the dialogue sounded corny and immature. I thought that the performance of Amanda Schull as the lead part of Jodie Sawyer was amazing. Her acting was very believable and her dancing was amazing and on point in the different dance numbers especially in the final dance scene in the movie when she just blows everyone out of the water when she dances to the song Canned Heat by Jamiroquai. Ethan Stiefel was amazing as the talented but also selfish dancer Cooper Nielsen, I never even knew who Ethan Stiefel was until I saw this movie, his dancing in it proves to be nothing but spectacular and all of his moves are very much on point. Sasha Radetsky as the sweet and talented dancer Charlie was so endearing in this movie and his dancing and acting in the movie were more than perfect. Peter Gallagher fit the part perfectly as Jonathan who runs the American Ballet Company, his character is both egotistical and harsh and Peter does it so well. The music featured in this movie was a great mix of hip hop, r&b,rock and even some latino. This movie is definitely one in which all teenagers can relate to. It shows all the pain, tears and hardships that these men and women have to go through and how they break through them and make their dreams of dancing professionally come true. This movie is truly inspiring and is one of the best dance movies I have seen in a long time. For anyone who is a dance or theatre major I highly recommend that you see this movie.

Summary: Best Movie I've Seen In A Long Time
Review: This movie was about some people with a dream of being professional dancers. They tried out for a pre-dance company in New York. The whole story is based on a girl who's life long dream was to become a professional dancer in New York. She made a pre-dance company and the movie showed the struggles and accomplishments that she undertook the whole time she lived in New York. It is very real to life and I felt like I was there. The movie kept me interested the whole time. The end is very good and I highly reccomend it.

Review: I love all these great movies coming out about dance because I am a dancer. I often go away in the summer to various dance camps and seeing the audition in the beginning of the movie was all to familair. I really loved this movie because it was so realistic and it really made me and my friends want to get up and dance. We even tried some of their moves before class. I recommend this film for anyone who likes to be inspired!

Summary: On Their Toes
Review: Ballet films since The Red Shoes stress the commitment of the dancer's life to an extremely short and arduous professional career. The Turning Point, Dancer's, and to some extent All That Jazz are the most recent dance stories which pit women against the expectations of perfection that dance requires. Center Stage however, takes an unexpected stance against the mindset that ballet is the end all and be all. Instead, a young woman, Jody, makes the decision to pursue her dream to become a dancer with a national company only to discover that her technique and training is wrong for her to succeed. A little late in this realization to ring true, nevertheless, a plot twist that allows for electric scenes of Broadway hoofers in class routines that make Bob Fosse's choreography look stiff and dated. Other dance students are equally not suited for the ballet are a bulimic dance princess whose problem is her mother not her nutritional penchant for sticking a finger down her throat. The talented African-American dancer of the group is doomed because her confrontational attitude to all forms of authority is a stereotype all to easily laid on Black characters in films today. Do Anglo dancers ever defy fading prima ballerina teachers? The Olympic ice skating cutie Illya Kulik appears as a Russian dance student. And, phenomen ABT principal Ethan Stiefel, the new Misha B-type, is so hot in tights as a motorcycle-riding, arrogant choreographer that the film's joyful ending is worth the price of purchase just to view his dance sequences. This is a familiar dance story retold but worth viewing just to have a visual record of the newest crop of American dancers captured in all their beauty and youthful best on film.

Summary: Wonderful Movie! All Dance lovers with love it!!
Review: I loved this movie. I watched it three times! It made me want to start ballet again. The cast members of this movie are such great dancers, they show that they have been very well trained and have the drive in them to do well. Amanda Schull's breakout performance at the end was so great. She has got some real talent. The soundtrack is also great. I dance to it in my dance class. The cast of "Center Stage" are also great actors. They show the emotions of what it is like in dance, to be rejected, accepted, and the longing to want to dance. I highly reccomend this movie to anyone who loves music and dance.
