Summary: Eddie Lives In This Modern Classic Of The Underdog
Review: First off Tom, Get a heart and practice using it first before rating films....As a film student and ten year vet of indy film making. I can sincerly give a thumbs up on this one....The film is a modern classic...I have seen the film at least a dozen times and it still carries my attention....Sure it lacks high budget special effects and isn't as glamorous as certain Hollywood pictures circa 1983.....Yet is a powerhouse film for true rock and roll fans...And who can resist the feelings brought back through the rebel image Pare' portrays in this film...I want to go back 40 years just watching it...Well I hope this reveiw helps those who haven't had the privlage of experiencing this awsome flick.....I just had to stuff it to those critics who where probally as square then as they are now...Rock on america!!!!

Summary: One of those nostaglic gems that captures the times
Review: As the Cruisers walk into Tony Marts in Somers Point NJ and tell Tom Bereger to tell the manager, "The cruisers are here," I did a double take. From the age of 16, Tony Marts was my favorite hangout! (Yeah, the drinking age was 21, but I was a tall kid and no one asked for ID). So, you know I love this movie. I have probably watched this movie two dozen times and shown it to all of my friends and dates. To a person, they fell in love with in (and not surprisingly Eddie Lives the sequel, charming for its own music. Michael Pare captures the role and until one night that I watched the movie and then went out to see Beaver Brown (the real band) perform the same music, I was convinced he was singing and still don't get distracted by the lipsynching. Enjoy this wonderful movie, don't over analyze it and, well, if you spend your childhood on the South Jersey shore (Ocean City across from Somers Point) in the 1950s and 1960s as I did, it's real special.

Summary: Eddie Rocks
Review: What is is about film reviewers that they always forget what it is like to be a kid again? Eddie does that, takes me back to when I was a kid. The cool cars and the music that when you sat back and listened had meaning unlike the doff doff of today. This movie is about a band and their lead singer Eddie who is gifted to the point of not being able to relate or communicate to other band members other than to mesmerise than with his interperation of music and what it takes to acheive greatness. It also shows the dark side of the music industry in that they destroy the band, Eddie in particular. The soundtrack to this movie is grossly underrated and I have often laughed at the reference to the E Street Band as this would have been a giant album had it been released in the 60's as it is in the movie.

Summary: Tom, Eat our shorts
Review: Eddie and the Cruisers was a hit with everyone that understands Rock n Roll and loves the E-Street band style. I think Bruce got some of his ideas from this movie and John Cafferty. Tom, stick to rating cook books or something else.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Keough aside...
Review: Arrogant Critical "Pretensions" aside, John Cafferty's music had a definite following along the East coast, and his music is ideally suited for a movie about a reporter tracking down a Jersey Shore's musician's search for greatness. The movie has some corny spots and definetly has it's faults, but the music is raw and real and the story will get you through a cold winter's night... or a warm summer's night for that matter. Sure beats Britney shaking her bare midriff pushing Pepsi...

Summary: Love it, Sing it, Dance to it
Review: I've been watching this movie since I was 8 years old. I'm 24 now and I still love it, and my poor old vhs was so stretched and old I was forced to upgrade from watching it so much! You can't help but sing along with the kicking rock n' roll.(...) It's reincarnation scenes of te 50's and 60's is classic. And the mystery that threads through the story is great. And it's a perfect story of man reflecting on the great peak of his younger life. I highly recommend it, and don't forget to pick up the second movie, Eddie and the Cruisers II. You have to know how the real mystery ends.

Summary: Great movie, okay DVD
Review: I love this movie! It was the second DVD I bought when I decided to upgrade from VHS. If you've seen the movie, you know how good it is. So, why only four stars? Because the DVD format is wasted. There are no extras worth mentioning, meaning there is no true benefit to buying the DVD insteade of the VHS. I would have liked to see something extra to enhance the experience, but the studios just rushed out these pre-DVD movies to capitalize on buyers' spending sprees. Still, the music is so good, it justifies buying the movie in whatever format you own.
