Summary: THE most boring film ever made
Review: (zero stars) This film makes the home shopping network seem like Indiana Jones. Basically a guy dies at the beggining (you never even see this person) next thing you know, your sitting at his funeral. The whole funeral, speaker after speaker. I get board sitting through an entire funeral even when its someone I know. I sure as hell don't want to sit through a funeral for someone I never met. Especially when its not real. Guess what, thats the high point of the movie, it goes down hill from there. A bunch of freinds gather at this big summer home and talk about their freind throughout the rest of the movie. I only stayed figuring something has to happen, it can't be this boring throughout. I was rong, it was. Oh yeah, and they get stoned and drunk while they talk about this charactur. I would have gotten more enjoyment out of staring at wallpaper for 2 hours or how ever long the movie was. I will say this, it had good acting, but what was there to act on. I can't emagine what all those high reviewers got out of it. Their obviosly big time soap opera fans. Or mabey into psycology.

Review: Self-indulgent boomers miss being irresponsible teenagers. Poor babies. Well, they get to pretend for one more weekend and we get to watch. Wonderful. I weep for the present.

Review: I watched this movie last night for the second time. I had forgotten almost completely what It was about and as I watched it memories just kept comming back. This movie is so incredible!! Not only is the music fantastic, but they have the best assortment of actors! It was great! The Big Chill will always live on!

Summary: My most favorite movie EVER!
Review: This video exemplifies life and relationships I experienced firsthand as a "boomer"- Class of 1968. Included in this well directed flick are a great cast of talented actors illustrating extremely believable dynamics. And, no matter how many times I watch, my pleasure factor and interest have not diminished.

Summary: Seven Friends and a Funeral
Review: College friends reunite after a friend kills himself. The seven friends, all now in their 30's, come together for one weekend. They stay in one of the friends' house, both of the owners having gone to college with the group and gotten married to each other. While there, they meet up and talk about their lives, their jobs and their loves. They end up learning things about eachother that they never knew, and during this small amount of time they go back home feeling changed.

Summary: A MOVIE WITH HEART
Review: This movie doesn't need special effects, a high budget, or a mainstream following to rank it as one of the best films of all time. It is a brilliant story of friendship, brought to life by solid, believable actors at the summit of their game. The score will take you away to a different time. The story will make you reminiscent and nostalgic of your own youth and your friendships. This is a movie everyone should see. Words are hard to describe its sweet pain of loss and life...MTS

Review: Here is yet another pretentious, boring, and self-important Lawrence Kasdan film. Not touching by any means and often makes the viewer feel bad once seen. Is it really that bad? Yes it is.

Review: Growing up my family always loved this movie but I guess I was never mature enough to understand it. I watched it again about 5 years ago and realized what a good film it is. I was graduating from college when I watched it and I can really relate my group of friends to the group of friends in this film. Don't miss this one!

Summary: Friendship rocks!
Review: I first saw "The Big Chill" on video back in my Uni days. I was dragged reluctantly to the TV by three lady friends as part of a video night. What I had thought was going to be a "Girl's" movie turned out to be one of my all time favorites. I loved the story but the musical score is also terrific. It has a selection of some of the best tunes from the 60's throughout the film and they are interlaced with the film not just used as background.
I have seen some cynical reviews of "The Big Chill" which try to prove it is deliberately schmaltzy. I don't have a lot of faith in film critics at the best of times and least of all on this occasion. Watching this film is a touching experience. You become so wrapped up in the characters that you never want it to end. Oh and I feel before I get into a description of the story that you should all know that Alex, the dead guy, was played by Kevin Costner, before he became famous. His part was then largely edited out of the film, to the point where his face is never seen.
The film starts at Alex's funeral. We are introduced to Alex's friends from his college days. Then we move on to the wake, held at the beautiful home of Sarah and Harold. It is a bucolic palace by the edge of the Beaufort River. One of the first things that we learn is that Alex committed suicide. To make matters more interesting, he did it in Harold and Sarah's bath tub and was survived by a ditzy girlfriend, Chloe, played by Meg Tilly.
As the movie progresses we learn more about each of the group. Michael came primarily to get investors for his new venture. Meg, played by Mary Kay Place, wants a baby and she wants to conceive over this weekend. Sam has always had the hots for Karen, played by JoBeth Williams, and she in turn is tired of her marriage of convenience. Nick is a part time drug dealer who is trying to deal with the loss of his balls in Vietnam. Sarah had an affair with the dead Alex some years earlier. The only one who seems to have no skeletons in the closet is Harold, who has become "mister responsible" but without losing his caring side.
So as you can see, there is plenty to work with here. In the end, "The Big Chill", will make you laugh and it will make you cry but mostly it will make you want to catch up with the old friends in you life.

Summary: A Cult
Review: This film became cult for me in high school, and has continued through the years. It is a great psychological study, and has incredible talent in the cast. What fun it is, to quote a line in a room full of people and watch the recognition light up faces. It is a must see for everyone from the that generation between baby boomers and "X"ers.
