Summary: An excellent movie that has a special place in my heart.
Review: Sounds cheesy huh... for those who call this movie boring, dull, etc. well I guess that there is no Arnold in this and the screen is not covered in blood. But this movie can move you as it did me. Why? Because growing up me and my father did not always see eye to eye. I wanted to do things he thought "impracticle" or silly. But there was one thing we shared, we both loved to fly-fish. This mutual passion built a bond between us that never could be severed by differences. To this day we still go fishing together whenever we can and enjoy his last years here on this earth. As for the English gentlemen's comment about fishing being the most boring sport, I heartily disagree. I beleive your country introduced the dullest sport in the world, it is called soccer.

Review: This movie is my "hands-down favorite" of all time because of the moving dialogue (straight from Maclean's book) and passionate acting. From the beginning until the end including every moment in between, this movie will capture and impress you.

Review: It's in the silent spaces of this film that the drama of this Montana family lives. Fly fishing never meant so much as when it became the only common thread to hold them together. Brad Pitt brings so much realism to the role of the 'younger brother' trying to find his place in the world while battling his secret demons. Tom Skerrit is in his finest role as the stern father who, although a minister, doesn't know how to help his son in trouble. A real American family full of unspoken tension and unrealized dreams. Redford's narration of the author's simple words is as soothing and strong as the constant flow of the Blackfoot river. After seeing this film, I too am "haunted by waters."

Summary: This is The Art Which Touches One's Heartstrings
Review: This is one of the most unforgettable films I have ever seen. Anyone watched it will be fascinated by the beautiful nature and the art of fly-fishing, which fostered the two young brothers in the story. Although the scene of this film is laid in Montana in the early 20th century, the life of the two boys cannnot help recalling nostalgia to one's mind.

Summary: Self important and boring
Review: No one can deny that this film is stunningly beautiful. The Montana scenery all captured by fine photography is wonderful. But, unfortuanately that's all the film has going for it. The acting is good and it's certaintly interesting to see Pitt, (looking alot like the young Redford), in his first major screen role but no one really makes much impression. Basically this is self important, one note movie about the susposed joys of family love brought together by the dullest of sports, fishing, with little plot, humour or suspense. The strikingly similar "Legends of the Fall" is much better.

Summary: A Rare Mix --- A Deep Movie for Guys
Review: This is a movie I'll watch again and again...Norman MacLean's touching short story is vividly captured in this film. A brilliant portrait of the relationships between a father and his two sons. A little slow-moving in spots, but the incredible cinematography, capturing the beauty of Montana, makes it all worthwhile.

Review: This movie is very well done. It takes place in the 1920's in Montana. It tells the lives of two brothers and the things they do. Brad Pitt looks awesome in this movie and the script is great. The ending by far is one of the sadiest I have ever seen.

Summary: Brad Pitt in wet clothing duh!!!!!
Review: This was a nice movie portayed in the 1920's that showed a softer image of life in these times. Skeritt did a recommendable preformance that was worth seeing. Brad Pitt (although in many scenes looked like a little boy with an innocent face) did a good job in portraying a drunken gambler who had his sense of humor as the only thing going for him and of a course his shadow casting, although this couldn't even save his character in the end. If you like movies that takes a look into the lives of almost everyday people, then you can't go wrong with the wonderfully script and the nice directing job done by Robert Redford.

Review: This tale about a family coming to terms with individual dreams and goals is a must see for all. To this day I can not turn on the t.v., see the movie, and skip over it. The one movie where Pitt's acting ability outweighs his good looks. Tom Skerritt and Craig Sheffer shine as the ensemble cast. This story will touch and inspire all, and teach most about genuine family love and devotion.
