Summary: Dickens for the 1990's
Review: Ah... I love this movie. Now that Gwyneth Paltrow is finally getting the recognition that she deserves, her new fans must check out this film. I had my doubts about whether or not a modern adaptation of a Dickens novel would be worth making. Believe me, this one is.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: This movie was disapointing to me.
Review: People had told me how great it was, and it turned into a bogus story of an artist.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Big-time GRAVE-ROLLING for Charles Dickens and David Lean!
Review: Don't waste your time with this exhibitionist tripe! Purchase DAVID LEAN'S brilliant 1946 version! (See my review for the DVD-Criterion Collection.)

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Stick with the classic....
Review: I've seen this movie and the original version done in the 1940's. I highly recommend the original version where you get the complete set of characters (including "Aged P") which is what makes a Dickens story.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Great Anne Bancroft Movie.........a must see.
Review: What a great movie. I was truly surprised. Ann Bancroft was at her best as were Gwyneth Paltrow and Ethan Hawkes. Robert De Niro leaves a lasting impression. Curious story line that kept you paying attention.....Music was one of the contributing factors of this movie. What a love story.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Dickens should have seen this movie!
Review: Finn (Ethan Hawke) and Estella (Gwyneth Paltrow) may be the focus of this story, but Ms. Dinsmoor (the inimitable Anne Bancroft) really lit up the screen every time she appeared. Her over-the-top portrayal of the love-lorn Ms. Dinsmoor deserved an Oscar nomination. This is a good movie for those who love romance with a twist, and a must-see for Bancroft fans!

Summary: "A genuine romance bursting with elegance!!"
Review: A genuine romance bursting with elegance!! The music is great, the art direction sweeping! A must see for ALL!!! Ethan Hawke is absolutely wonderful. Few actors can equal his talent.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Great Expectations from Great Expectations
Review: A 90's version of a Dicken's classic??? Hats off to a job well done!!! The choice of locations, beautiful scenery, and top notch cinematography make this movie even better. Ethan Hawk(Finn) and Gwenneth Paltrow(Estelle)do a great job. This movie has it all; Drama, Action, Romance, and a touch of mystery. Did I mention the soundtrack? Both the Album and the Score are definately worth a listen. A must in every video library.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: very nice cinematography, but a big hole in the story
Review: I went to see this movie cause I like Ethan Hawke ( I was expecting he'd maybe do as well as in Reality Bites), and cause other recent adaptions of classics set in our time turned out to be great (Rome& Juliet), but the story of this one is just empty. The cinematography of the film is great, as well as the artwork and music, but that doesn't really make a good movie, does it!?

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: It was thrilling, sexy and intriguing all at the same time.
Review: I loved the plot, the actor and actress.I think they have a chemistry between them.I also loved the sound track. It was a very romantic movie and I would'nt mind watching it over and over.
