Summary: Vanilla Sky: Probably the Best Movie Ever Made
Review: I went and watched this movie last night, and I really liked it. Its the kind of movie that really grabs yer yonker and won't let go until the lights come on, and even then, it's still sitting in your brain like a little meditative Ghandi for some hours or days after. Say you find a rope that goes goes off to somewhere, and you follow it and discover to your surprise that at the end of the rope is a bomb. This comes as a surprise, and you quickly realize that the rope was a fuse. This is analogous to Vanilla Sky. The bomb part is the surprise ending to the rope. But don't get me wrong here, because the "fuse" part of this movie is really exciting also, its just that the ending bomb part is like an even bigger surprise, if you follow. Critics have called this movie rather confusing or hard to follow, but actually, it is not. Now let's talk about the actors, because they are the people who are in the movie. Tom Cruise is one of the actors, and he is a good one. Penelope Cruz is another one, and she is really good too. I think I could tell the two of them were in love. I had bought a tuna sandwich before the movie, intending to eat it while I watched, but the movie was so good that I didn't even notice my hunger. I ate my Tuna Sammich on the way home. Way to go Vanilla Sky!

Summary: (...) Fantastic!
Review: I am not a Tom Cruise fan, yet this film is probably one of my new faves. Entertaining, thought provoking, and completely satisfying. Everyone must see this movie(...)! You will think about it and talk about and think about it some more.

Summary: What the . . . ?
Review: When I saw this in the theater, I had not seen any advertisements but my expectations were low nevertheless. You totally have no idea what is going on at first but then it starts to fit together. Still, you have no clue as to where the story is headed. The twist comes out of nowhere and, I have to admit, I liked my predicted ending better. But it was a good movie. I heard that Kurt Russel, who starred in it, said that you have to watch it four or five times to know what its about, so it probably has some really deep meaning hidden in it somewhere. Before I went to see it, I asked someone what it was about and he replied, "It's about a guy . . . whose life is crazy." That's the general, in-a-nutshell description.

Summary: the best movie ever
Review: This has got to be one of the best movies ever created. the acting, style and directing are all top knotch. The story gets so interesting and cool near the end of the movie with an unpredictable twist. The movie is like mix of scfi, love and thriller. A must see.

Summary: This is an experience, not a film
Review: Wow...I am very surprised by the two negative reviews. I was expecting a lot of positive ones, but I guess I failed to realize that most people simply cannot grasp a complex story such as Vanilla Sky. This movie affected me in such a way that is only comparable to Requiem for a Dream. Tom Cruise was phenomenal, and Cameron Diaz was amazing in her supporting role as a jealous stalker. Penelope Cruz and Tom Cruise both shared an amazing on screen chemistry. Kurt Russell's role may end up being the most underestimated supporting role this year. This movie is big, in both content and meaning. It takes an open mind to fully enjoy it. If you enjoy movies that leave you breathless, this is the movie for you. I will be VERY surprised if there are no Oscar Nominations for this film or the amazing cast. This movie is a MUST SEE

Summary: Gives 'Eyes Wide Shut' A Run For Its' Money
Review: What a disappointment. The usually reliable Cameron Crowe serves up his first real turkey with this remake of the Spanish language film OPEN YOUR EYES. The chief problem with the movie is the story, which to say is convoluted would be a gross understatement. Tom Cruise plays David Aames, another one of those cocky "I've got it all" guys that Cruise used to play in his sleep. Unfortunately, for this role, he's decided to wake up, which results in some of his worst acting to date--it's like he's playing a caricature, and once his character gets disfigured, his acting descends to aping Gary Oldman's over-the-top performance in HANNIBAL, with disastrous results. Penelope Cruz fares slightly better as one of his love interests, but the picture only holds your attention when Cameron Diaz(as a slightly unhinged ex) or Jason Lee(and his best friend)are on screen, which isn't nearly enough. Once the whole purpose of the film is finally revealed within the last ten minutes, you've already sat through two hours and twenty minutes of ludicrous, incoherent story that makes Cruise's previous EYES WIDE SHUT seem like a simply-plotted Disney film. Don't waste your time or money.

Summary: Understand your consequences
Review: This film is a great film filled with beautiful images of love and a vanilla sky. But it also shows the darker side of pity and regret. I think that Vanilla Sky shines in showing us that a real life is better than a dream life.

Summary: Vanilla Sky: A Visually Gorgeous but Pointless Film
Review: Tom Cruise is a superbly gifted actor. He deserved the Academy Award for his performance in "Jerry Maguire." The malicious slur that Cruise is nothing more than a pretty boy probably had something do with his not receiving this honor. Unfortunately, our beloved Tom has recently squandered his enormous talent on making movies to satisfy the Liberal pseudo intellectuals. The banal "Eyes Wide Shut" and the so-called thought provoking "Magnolia" were both a complete waste of time. "Vanilla Sky" is another film on Tom Cruise's existential trip to nowhere.

"Vanilla Sky" is a beautiful film. New York City was never more lovely to look at. Alas, Director Cameron Crowe did what he could with a pointless and tedious story line. The music track is interesting but not memorable. The acting of Penelope Cruz and Cameron Diaz demands little from either actress. Jason Lee, however, is fantastic as the close friend of the protagonist. "Vanilla Sky" became increasingly boring whenever he was not in a scene. It wasn't Kurt Russell's fault that the audience had already fallen asleep by the time he appeared on the screen. What is the movie about? The gods of the universe couldn't answer that question. Tom Cruise portrays a spoiled and self absorbed thirty something brat who seemingly cannot distinguish between reality and fantasy. Is he alive, or is he dead? Does his life have any meaning? Is good sex sufficient to make it all worth while? I'm normally hostile towards Marxist ideology, but Cruise's David Aames character is a strong argument for not allowing the sons of the wealthy to inherit the wealth of their parents.

Anyone desiring to save their sanity should consider avoiding "Vanilla Sky" at all costs. One should recommend this movie only to their worst enemies. There are numerous Tom Cruise films that you must see at least once during your lifetime, but "Vanilla Sky" isn't one of them.
