Summary: awesome
Review: i went to see this with little knowledge of the plot. although confused through out the movie, i that it was spectacular. its ashame that the majority of the people watching this movie won't understand the plot and will thus give it a bad review. if you consider yourself literary and have the ability to take things at both face value and find meaning, you will understand it and you will like it. if you dont consider yourself this, dont watch and read something. one piece of advice make sure you watch the movie closely especially in the beginning and the end, those are the parts that will make or break it for understanding. i want to see the original now, it was awesome, and i usually dont enjoy those types of movies. the movie is powerful.

Summary: It's Better Than Everyone Else Says!!
Review: I read some of the reviews on this site and felt the movie was better than most people said it was. I thought it was a great love story/thriller/scifi combo. It was an unusual combination of types of movie but it did work if you're not attached to the idea that a movie can only be of one type.

Cruise was good (as he generally is), Cruz was better than she has been in the past (possibly due to the chemistry between the two of them)and the movie although not the light love story I thought it was going to be was really interesting. Also interesting were the similiarities between this movie, "Open Your Eyes" and one of Cruise's other movies, "Eyes Wide Shut". He seems to have focused on the subconscious causing people to do things they would not consciously do.

Anyway, it was wrenching, slightly farfetched but still pretty damn good. And interesting.

Summary: one of the years best....
Review: ok,so i will begin by saying that i love foreign and indies so naturally open your eyes is on the tip-top of my films-to-see list. i viewed this film the other nite in the theatre and perhaps i am the only one who actually caught the ending. maybe it's just me and the way my mind works but i've always gone for this kind of film and i would watch this one again in a heartbeat. this could be the film for you if you liked memento, the matrix, or even being john malkovich. tom cruise gave a very memorable performance here as did cameron diaz who is always impressive. penelope cruz is beautiful and do like her but i don't feel they gave her enough to really sink her teeth into. oh well, maybe next time?? i am now ordering abre los ojos as i can't wait for this to hit dvd or video.

Summary: Worst movie of the year.
Review: It is no wonder Mr. Cruise and Ms. Kidman ended their marriage. He has gone completely off the deep end. I think his ego and prior successes have made him unable to see how an average person would spend hard earned dollars and 2 hours of their precious time to be entertained. I am an educated professional female and I will never waste one dollar or one minute of my day on another Tom Cruise movie.

Summary: Vanilla Sky Worth Seeing in Theatre
Review: I had no idea what to expect as the film began. The previews don't reveal too much. It was better that way. I will not reveal any details or plots, but Tom Cruise and Penelope Cruz have chemistry on screen not seen in years. Carmen Diaz is at her best. Tom is Tom, but good. Penelope is magical. The movie gets wierd, but is worth sitting through; as you realize what is going on, the movie lets you know with a great ending. Worth seeing in the theatre.

Summary: It Ain't "The Sixth Sense", but I still liked it . . .
Review: This is a movie that definitely is trying to be intriguing in the same way as Sixth Sense. Unfortunately, it is much less clever (not to mention clear) in its approach. I think the lack of clarity and the fact that the ending just doesn't live up to the "build up" of the film have made the critics pan it.

However, there are definitely some things to like about this movie:

- A terrific soundtrack

- Super chemistry between Cruise and Cruz. Cruz barely even speaks, but these two obviously had no trouble acting out their scenes together.

- A very strong performance from Cameron Diaz. She looks amazing, and her acting is even better

- Tom Cruise also gives a very good performance. No matter what you think of the movie (I'm not too impressed with the scripts Tom has selected these days), he is one terrific actor.

With all the terrible reviews, my husband and I were a bit nervous about seeing this film. My feeling is that the reviews were a bit harsh. This is NOT "Eyes Wide Shut" - - a truly bad movie in my opinion. It is an interesting concept that just isn't executed quite as well as we've seen in the past.

Can't wait to hear what others think!

Summary: A solid movie with a complete ending
Review: I thought Vanilla Sky had a very good story that kept me interested in it the whole time. You really need to pay attention to this one when watching it or it might be easy to get lost. I really liked the ending because without it, I probably would have walked away thinking "?" but they do a very nice job of explaining what was going on. I am not a big fan of movies that leave you wondering or to fill in the blanks of what could've or should've or migh've happened.

Summary: One of the Best Films of the Year
Review: I've never seen a movie create such a massive divide in critical and fan opinion. I thought the film was phenomenal. Cruise and Crowe definitely deserve Oscar nominations. Reading some of the reviews below, it's scary how inflexible and blocked some of the minds sitting behind me in theaters must be. Always expecting stories to roll out in a nice, clean straight-line fashion. And it's even scarier how many professional critics don't have the first clue what's happening in front of them. I think "Vanilla Sky" will end up like "Blade Runner," a film that many of the same critics said "Huh?" to the first time around. It took a few years for it to happen, but "Blade Runner" was eventually recognized as a classic. That'll happen with "Vanilla Sky," too. Just wait until the raves finally open the eyes of critics too excited about their upcoming Janeane Garofalo interview to notice the first time around.

Summary: Waste of money!
Review: I would give this movie zero stars if I could. What a disappointment! The commercial makes the movie look SO good and then you actually see it only to find all this other mixed up science fiction type stuff with flashbacks every 5 minutes that you can't tell the past from the present. This movie would only be suited to the artsy-fartsy type crowd and not the average movie-goer.

Summary: I need more stars.
Review: I feel sorry for people who aren't intelligent enough, or open-minded enough, to enjoy a complex and thoughtful movie like this. They're not going to enjoy the future, either --- and the future is coming, whether they're ready for it or not!

When we love, do we love a real person, or our idea of that person? What if life were a dream, or a dream could become life? What would we do with that, if it were so? Will it be so, someday? It already begins to be, more and more. We live vicariously through our movies, music, computer games, etc. What's next? I'm curious to find out, and you should be too.
