Review: Go and buy a Vanilla Shake instead, because you'll find more substance in the shake. A good thriller will have you dying to see the strings tied together, this film will have you dying for the lights to come on at the end of the film.
Watching pretty boy Tom Cruise, forced to wear a mask to cover his wretched face, is about the only justice one gets from the film. Penelope's whiney tone will have me running from anything she stars in for years to come and Cameron Diaz, pulling double duty with this and "Gangs of New York", hopefully will rebound from this dud.
I think the sole purpose for this movie was for audience goers to play the name game. "Hmmm, Camerone Crowe and Cameron Diaz" and "Tom Cruise and Penelope Cruz". At least Crowe has now provided us with a new form of entertainment for college dorm parties. Maybe his next film will star Russell Crowe, Tom Hanks and Tyra Banks. As a matter of fact that could be the title, ah the possibilities.Special Note: The boom mic appears in as many scenes as possible so make sure you keep count and the poor thing doesn't even get a screen credit. It's actually the real star of the film.

Summary: Horrid mess
Review: Don't be fooled. I loved Jerry Maguire. I like Tom Cruise. I like films with twist endings. The thing is, this film doesn't have a twist ending. If you call the film disolving into a train wreck of bad ideas a "twist" this is right up your alley. It's just a mess, you will never get back the time in your life it takes to see this movie.

Summary: Great stuff
Review: I'm a big Cameron crowe fan, I have seen and liked most of his movies. This isn't as good as his masterpiece Almost Famous but they are very different movies. I still don't think much of Tom Cruise though. Anyway, Vanilla Sky is a great storyline that keeps you hooked from the beginning. Tom plays the pretty boy boss of a mens magazine that is disliked by his peers. Jason Lee (The best actor who has ever lived.) plays his envious best friend. Cameron Diaz is another good friend and occasional "buddy" who is secretly in love with Tom. At Tom's very high brow birthday party, Penelope Cruz comes in with Jason Lee. Tom instantly is in love with her. Cameron Diaz sees this and wants revenge. She picks him up from Penelope Cruz's apartment (wonder what he was doing there?) and then goes psycho girl, asking him weird questions like "When Did You Stop Caring?" and other stuff you'd find in a mans nightmare. Then she drives her car of a bridge and rams into a wall, killing her (supposedly) and disfiguring Tommy Boy's gorgeous grin. You have to see it to find the rest out, but this movie is damn cool. Tom does some good acting for once, Cameron Diaz is so sexy it should be a crime, and Jason Lee is funny as hell. The only big problem was Penelope Cruz. She isn't pretty, she can't act, and her acsent is very annoying. But it does have a surprise ending. And it is a good one. it slows down a bit during the middle but wait for the end, it's worth it.

Review: Vanilla Sky will change you. It will move you. It will force you to think about life and death. It is absolutely opposite than Cruise's latest and oldest action flicks, but it's by far his best work. Don't listen to anyone elses oppinion... JUST SEE THE MOVIE. It's one of those movies where you either love it or you hate it. It's not that confusing either. I'M FIFTEEN FOR GOODNESS SAKES AND I GOT IT. So why are most people complaining? Man, they must of not payed attention much. SO GO SEE THE MOVIE, AND GO TO THE BATHROOM BEFORE YOU ENTER THE MOVIE. IF YOU MISS ONE THING...YOU ARE LOST. It'S GrEaT!

Review: Overall, Vanilla Sky was mind bending. It made you think about life. It intrigued you as well. There was so many twists, and turns in the movie. Man, I just can't describe it. No words are to be said. I do not know what anyone is talking about when they said they didn't like it. Who are they to judge? Do they not like movies? What is not to like? It's thrilling, mysterious, mind bending, suspensful, and so much at different points. Penelope Cruz, Tom Cruise, Cameron Diaz, and everyone else whom acted in this movie deserve a standing ovation. Wonderful! Go see the movie today before it's gone from theaters!

Review: This was an okay....but not the great mindbending movie that people have made it out to be. The only reason I'm giving it two stars is because the acting was good....but it was a rather bland and dull movie...and the ending was not that much of a mind blow.....

Summary: Not your average feature film
Review: While strongly entertaining its viewers, this film manages to provide an essential truth of the human spirit. For most people, beauty is a strong part of their lives. When David (played by Tom Cruise) loses his outer beauty, things continue to go downhill at an extremely fast pace. This occurs not because of his distorted facial features, but because of his new understandably bitter personality. This is not your average feature film. A friend of mine rightfully recognised that it contains not only one genre, but a whole range of genre's grouped together for your viewing pleasure. The minute or so preview of the film has in my opinion threw the unsuspected movie goer off track completely. Something which hasn't occurred too often in the past. In most cases, previews of films often give the story line away in a two or so minute scene.

Review: I just saw this movie and I was sorry I wasted my money. Wait and rent the video, you will be glad you did. Not only is this moive hard to follow, it does not even make any sense. It started out good and as the moive goes on you are left just scratching your head. Some thriller....I was fighting to stay awake.

Summary: Confused plotline, mediocre acting
Review: What if Tom Cruise didn't have such a pretty face? That is basically what this film is about, with an added two hours of storyline that is ultimately a disappointing waste of your attention. I didn't have to like this film. We were going to see Lord of the Rings, but it was sold out until the next show. Having a few hours to kill, my boyfriend decided we should see Vanilla Sky rather than head into the shopping mall (my credit card was already jumping out of my wallet, ready for the sales!). Well, to save money, I acquiesced. He said if it was dull, we could sit in the back row and smooch, like teenagers -- unfortunately, about 45 minutes into the film, I turned his way and found he was asleep. Lucky him! Not being a Tom Cruise fan, I struggled with this film. I had seen Jerry MacGuire, and I had witnessed the struggle Cruise has to actually try to act in that film. He's very good at posing for the cameras and delivering a line to the audience. Though he has skill, he lacks ability. I tend to think that without a good publicist and his scientology friends, he would have had no acting career. In this film, he strains, he tortures, he forces it out -- but you cannot ask a shallow individual of average intelligence to pretend to be a deep character with some intellect. The depth and smarts just aren't there (I guess Nicole was the smart one in Cruise's ex-family). Cameron Diaz, whose last role was as a lightweight Charlie's Angel, gives a surprisingly brilliant performance. She is the saving grace of the film and I could say would definitely have carried it to success just as Cuba Gooding did the former Jerry MacGuire, except that there is too little of her in the film. Instead, we get Cruise paired with the fragile and vulnerable, subordinate and man-pleasing sex-kittenish character Sofia, who is intended to be the great love of Cruise's character's life. Cruise is awkward as he tries to portray his sudden passion for this chick as being delicate, delightful, innocent -- the darling expressions on his face as he falls in love are really rather laughable. Sofia, played by Penelope Cruz, is the catalyst for tragedy -- only it is hard to take her seriously when, quite frankly, I can barely understand a word Cruz says. Too heavy a Spanish accent ruins her lines and, frankly as well, her sex appeal (my boyfriend agrees). Add to that, I don't think Cruz lives up to her publicity as being a great beauty or a great actress -- quite the opposite, I find her unattractive (oh, how petty of me!) and having less ability than Cruise. Enough about the actors -- the plotline is convoluted. Just about the time you think you've got it figured out, just about the time it makes sense and you think you can enjoy the film for its entertainment value, you lose it. Cruise spends a lot of time hidden behind a plastic mask, afraid of his disfigurement which is not, actually, nearly as disfigured as many people are by accidents. It is done so as to be a little shocking and to preserve his prettiness for the camera. Then, of course, the film ends. You find out that all your effort to understand the plot was useless. You wish, like me, that you'd gone shopping instead. Well, the saving grace was that my boyfriend got some needed sleep and we throughly enjoyed Lord of the Rings, even though neither of us was a fan of the Tolkein books.
