Summary: Great Black Film
Review: I loved this movie, I thought the storyline was great because it touched bases with alot of relationships, someone always wants your man/woman. I also liked the love that is displayed between a man and a woman as well as between "TRUE" friends. Besides that, it had an all-star cast. GREAT MOVIE

Summary: Alright up until the end
Review: I thought this movie was alright, I would have liked it better if it ended differently. I really believe Taye's character should have ended up with Nia's character because we saw them develop throughout the movie and since their relationship in the past didn't work, I really wanted to see them give another go at it. The reason why I didn't want Taye with Sanaa's character was because we only saw her in the beginning of the movie and in the end, so we didn't really get to see what her character was like to judge rather she would have been better for Taye's character or not. Instead of having the guy with the dreads hook up with the stripper maybe they should have hooked him up with Sanaa's character, I think that would have worked out better so she wouldn't have ended up alone like Nia's character did after all she had been through. Overall, this movie had a great cast and a possible good storyline, I just wish it would have ended differently.

Summary: A GOOD MOVIE
Review: A good little movie. Showing Brown folk upper class and doing their thing. Sanaa Lathan, Nia Long, and Melissa DeSousa look good as they usually do. Good movie to relax to and chuckle at. Directed by Spike's c'son Malcolm. Glossy to no end, "TBM" differs from the gritty "urban dramas" that most studios put Black people in. No masterpiece but a nice little romantic comedy, good debut for Malcolm. ... At the end of the day, BTM wins.

Summary: The Best of the Best
Review: I love this movie. It is a classic that you can watch over and over again.
This movie takes place in the time spand of one very intense weekend. The Best Man is about a group of six old college friends that come together for a wedding. Harper (Taye Diggs) has written a unpublished book that is partly fiction but incorporates true events that happen between the group of friends. One of Harper's friends, Jordan,is a big time TV producer and has access to a copy of Harper's book. Because
Jordan lets some of the friends see Harper's book some secrets are revealed that have a major impact on the entire weekend.
There are some really great characters in this movie as well as some really cute guys. This is a great movie that portrays the black community in a positive manner. The best man deals with friendships, emotions, commitments and a lot more.
I recommend the Best Man to anyone who wants to enjoy a GREAT movie.

Summary: Fun, energetic, but a bit too long
Review: The Best Man is a funny, racy romantic comedy starring some of the best black actors working today. What it lacks in originality, it makes up for in energy. It's a lot of fun.

For Harper [Taye Diggs], it's the best of times and the worst of times. His yet unpublished first novel has been picked up by Oprah Winfrey's Book Club, almost insuring that it will be a best seller. He has a great girlfriend whose only fault seems to be that she's pushing the skittish Harper towards the marriage question. His best friend, Lance [Morris Chestnut], is about to get married, and Harper's the best man. What Harper doesn't know is that an advanced copy of his book has been obtained by an old flame, who will be at the wedding. It's making the rounds of his friends. The problem is that the novel's characters are based on his old friends, all of whom are part of the nuptial event. This is going to be one wedding party Harper will never forget.

It isn't long after Harper arrives in New York for the big event that he discovers Jordan [Nia Long], the old girlfriend, is the one who obtained the book. And why not? She's now an executive at a big TV station and has the inside track on obtaining information. Harper is panic-stricken. He's written a work of fiction, but a lot of it is based on real life situations which reveal some closely held secrets about his and his friend's love lives. Lance now has the book, but Harper is foiled in every attempt to retrieve it. To make matters worse, the attractive Jordan is trying to rekindle their relationship.

Nothing in the plot is new. In fact, it's pretty much a classic romantic comedy plot Hollywood have been remaking successfully for seventy years. Yet when a movie like this is well done, it's nice to settle down and relax with it. It's sort of like seeing an old friend. The cast sparkles. Taye Diggs, who got his training in theater, is one of best actors working today. Nia Long has yet to prove she's quite as talented, but she is certainly one of our most beautiful actresses. There is not a bad performance in the movie.

There are a couple of drawbacks. First time director Malcolm D. Lee [Spike's cousin] allows The Best Man to overstay its welcome by about twenty minutes. Two or three scene transitions are rough, indicating that a couple of key moments were never filmed. These faults are enough to prevent the movie's getting a really high rating, but they are not sufficient to smother your enjoyment of this delicious comedy. People who don't get paid to look for these elements might not even notice them.
