Rating: Summary: hot, saucy, and filled with cruel intentions. Review: This movie was like a soap opera just longer. It has steamy scenes that made your heart race, and so much discieving and cruelness that it made you wish you were in the film. Sarah Michelle Gellar, played the part of the bitchy Kathyrn Merteuil to the fulliess, and Resse(Annette Hargrove) and Ryan(Sebastian Valmont) did too. Selma Blair(Cecil Caldwell) totally played the whole dumb, school girl act. The whole thing just made you want to be them for a short time. To wonder what it would be like, to feel like to play games and treat people like toys. Maybe its just me that loves this movie so much because i have some intentions that are cruel myself, but this movie gets 2 thumbs up and 5 ***** stars for me. But the second one Cruel intentions 2, uumm didn't really like it. Kinda a fake to me, I'll stick with the orignal. But always this will be in the top five of my all time favorites.
Rating: Summary: THE RAGE OF THE YOUNG, RICH AND WHITE! Review: This movie served its purpose as a campy, entertaining and sexy piece of work that any rich or poor teen could've wrote off the top of their head.No originality. No stunning performances. No unforgettable moments (maybe a few unforgettable sayings). But it sure was entertaining! I have watched this movie several times and I just love how the film plays out in an easy watch type of movie. You don't really have to think too much - and either did the actors. I was a little disappointed in the performance of Reese Witherspoon just seemed to have difficulty holding her performance without her co-stars. Ryan Phillippe did a mediocre job as playing the hustling rich boy that prides himself on destroying the lives of young virgins. It works - I guess. Sarah Michelle was my most favorite. It was great too see her being a true villain and maybe letting go of some of her inhibitions as teen queen actress. This shows she may have the potential of growing into an incredible actress with enough risk tasking. Overall I loved this movie and recommend it to anyone who doesn't want to do much thinking but just be entertained.
Rating: Summary: uck! Review: I found this movie to be very slow moving. The acting was far from par. At times I just could not wait until the end so it would be over, and when it finally got there, I thought that the ending was DUMB. I was also appalled at the amount of evilness.
Rating: Summary: Fun Review: The tale of love and betrayl gets a face lift...and breast implants. In this sleek movie with Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillipe, and Reese Wheterspoon. A kid makes a wager with his STEP sister that he can deflower a girl who promised not to lose her virginity until marriage. If he wins he gets intercourse with his step sister, if he loses, he loses his '54 Jaguar Roadster. Some twists and some crude moments are on the road ahead, so beware. I thought this was a sexy, profane, and wonderful movie. A must.
Rating: Summary: Sinfully Sweet Review: I began viewing Cruel Intentions with extremely low expectations. Think about it. It was a movie geared at teens, and nearly every teen flick I had viewed up to that point was a horrid flop. I was only watching Cruel Intentions to see Ryan Phillippe. Which was a huge mistake. Contrary to my expectations, the plot was NOT created by a band of monkeys: the storyline was intriguing and expertly crafted. The actors' performances were refreshingly well done. These were actors who had appeared in such embarassments as Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer...Cruel Intentions proved that these young actors actually HAD talent. Aside from its excellent plot and acting, the sets and costumes are lavishly eye-popping. If you ever get bored of viewing the film (which rarely happens), it's really fun to let your eyes wander and admire the movie's beautiful sets. Despite all of this praise, Cruel Intentions does have a few fallbacks. The plot of gratiutious sex and backstabbing revenge may not appeal to some viewers: watch out, the kids in this movie will try ANYTHING. And yes, they are kids. Although every single one of these actors are in their twenties, they are playing high school students from a prestigious prep school, which I found a horrible inaccuracy. Was Cruel Intentions truly an attempt at a formidable film or a mere vehicle to boost these celebrities' careers? It makes me wonder. Although the sets of Cruel Intentions are extremely beautiful, they are very fake and impossibly upscale. However, they provide an excellent backdrop for a sinfully sweet story played out by beautiful actors.
Rating: Summary: A hip, smart retelling of Dangerous Liasions! Review: The only word to describe Cruel Intentions is phenomenal! Everything about this movie shines. The stars are perfect in their roles, the soundtrack rocks, and the plot draws you in from the beginning. The story follows young playboy Sebastian (Ryan Phillippe) and his stepsister Katherine(Sarah Michelle Gellar). The two make a dangerous bet: Can Sebastion sleep with the headmaster's virginal daughter (Reese Witherspoon)before school starts in the fall? These roles are played expertly by the talented trio. Gellar, in particular, shines as the evil Katherine. She was awarded an MTV movie award for best female performance for her work here. Selma Blair, Joshua Jackson, Christine Barinski, and Swoosie Kurtz all appear in humorous roles throughout the film. Do yourself a favor and buy this modern retelling of Dangerous Liasions. It's intentions are anything but cruel on the viewer!
Rating: Summary: Something to think About Review: Drama can sometimes be hard to deal with, and above all this movie made you think. You often wondered how the (barely existing) consciences of Sebastian and Catherine allowed them to get away with their various and sundry, petty and not-so-petty crimes. Cruel Intentions is the best possible title for this film, because it describes perfectly what you will see when you watch it. I did experience an odd epiphany at the end of the movie. I found myself hoping, in a strange way, that Katherine would win. Yes, that she would come out on top, even though she was the cruelest of the cruel in this film. I realized that I wanted her to give her speech and just keep rolling her eyes afterwards and planning the inevitable "excitements" ahead of her in the coming year. I suppose it is the power of the movie to bring out the strangest feelings in people, since I, like many, do not normally agree with the villian. I enjoyed this movie. Star power can sometimes overpower a movie, but in this case it set it free. And it was good to see five or six familiar faces. In a movie where everything everyone does is wrong, the only way a character seems relatable is if you can see their face and connect it to a different experience. A 3.5-4 star movie.
Rating: Summary: Ryan Phillippe Stole My Heart Review: Cruel Intentions is one of the best movies I've ever seen. Its a great movie and it was really clever. The only bad part was the ending was so sad, I was in denile for a while. But I incridge people to buy it. Its worth it. The acters where great and the settings, too. Hope you consider at lest watching it.
