Rating: Summary: Hit's the mark everytime! Review: This movie will take you on a roller-coaster ride of laughs, women and ultimately, tragedy. Not once during this movie did I think of the time, get restless in my chair or fidget! The length of the movies perfect, the acting is good from the young cast, the soundtrack is excellent and the humour is spot on. I dare you not too like this movie! A lot has been made about this film being a re-make. This is nonsense! The original was designed for the older audience while this film is made for the younger generation! By this, I mean 18+. This film is surely inspired by the new style of MTV movie that has just come around. By this I mean young cast and good sountrack and you've got a hit. The difference, the humour and content of this film is adult. There's not even a hint of a after school party where there will be kegs of beer! It's sophisticated and can be enjoyed by the adults as well. Buy this film, you won't be sorry that you did!
Rating: Summary: I like it BUT DO YOU Review: I think this film is excellent. It's nothing compared to the original ofcourse, it's been transformed into the ultimate teen flick and is bound to be incredibly popular. Sarah.M Gellar was great (very convincing) and Reese Witherspoon was fantastic. My advice is to definately see it but don't expect it to be as equisite as Dangerous Liasons.
Rating: Summary: It's Not Even Fair To Compare The Two. Review: "Cruel Intentions" is not even close to "Dangerous Liasions". BUT, I'm not sure you should even consider them in the same breath. They are two completely different films, based on the same novel. I think it's fair to say that "Dangerous Liasions" is one of the best movies ever. This one is not. But, it's not meant to be. It's a teen-age version with all the wrappings. It's not that it's a bad movies, because it's not. There are real moments of entertainment. The casting is fabulous. Sarah M. Gellar is wonderful and Reese Witherspoon is very enjoyable. Ryan Phillippe's Valmont leaves a little something to be desired but, other cast members take up his slack. All in all, this movies is enjoyable, but if you want the real story....rent the Glen Close/John Malkovich "Dangerous Liasions".
Rating: Summary: One of the best movies I've seen in a long time. Review: Dangerous Liaisons it's not, but when you think about it, Roger Kumble had no business turning the story into a teen movie. Even though the concept of teens stepping into the shoes of the Marquise de Merteuil and the Vicomte de Valmont was a bit objectionable (no one wants to see a movie about what most kids are doing in high school...) "Cruel Intentions" was a treat. The script was extremely faithful to Dangerous Liaisons. I was disappointed when a certain someone was actually alive to drive a car in the last few frames because when that character died in Dangerous Liaisons, the ending was much more tragic. Never-the-less, that was my only real complaint. Even the Blaine-Greg bedding was in the original, just packaged differently as the tryst between Azalan and Julie. And yes, I supposed it had to be two guys because I doubt a guy-girl romp would shock anyone in that movie. No matter what anyoen says, Sarah Michelle Gellar did a good job as Kathryn, taken from the Marquise de Merteuil. She was manipulative, wicked, and two-faced. Everything the character shoudl have been. If only the ending was different... Ryan Phillippe was a good Sebastion (a la the Vicomte de Valmont) if not for the acting talent, then for the cheap butt shot that got girls everywhere screaming. Reese Witherspoon's Annette, taken from the pious Mme. de Tourvel, was updated to a more believable girl who just wanted to make sure her first tiem was with someone she loved. Selma Blair was a hoot as the naïve Cecile. This was an improvement from Uma Thruman, but not really comparable in the least.... All in all, Cruel Intentions may not be a masterpiece, but it is still a fantastic movie for someone out looking for a good time. PS -- the Swoosie Kurtz throwaway was incredibly fun. She treats Valmont the same way she did when she was in Dangerous Liaisons...
Rating: Summary: A good/bad movie Review: I like this movie it has a lot of grate actors and actresess in it for them all being so young some of them are fresh faces to the movie world others are older to the movie world but did a grate job in this movie. Most of them all of them in my case we have seen then all or most of them somewhere ether it was in another movie or on tv. The cast was put together so well. I say if you even watch the movie to see the acting and the stars you will not be dissiponted and you will also get another treat a grate story.
Rating: Summary: Clever, Crooked and Crafty. Review: I'm not the first to say that I disagree with some of the reviews saying that this is the greatest film of all time. Give me a break. But hey... it sure is fun to watch. Basing my opinions on this movie on what I saw and not on what I did NOT see (Dangerous Liasons) completely leans toward all fairness for writer/director Kumble. Artsy reviewers who didn't like this film compare it to the "superior" Malkovich one. Alone, the movie certainly appeals to a general audience: teeny boppers. Yes, teeny boppers. Purveyors of the successes of such box-office smashes as Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Urban Legend, The Faculty, etc. I'm 18, so it's not like I don't qualify. Liking artsy movies such as the Godfather, Chinatown, Casablanca, etc. probably won't justify my review as an intelligent one, but oh well. Cruel Intentions is a sexy satire on upper-class teens in the 90's. Maybe the "big words" is overdoing it sometimes, and certain scenes seem unnecassery. Like when Selma Blair and Sarah Michelle Gellar share an intimate tongue kiss, with the camera panning 2 inches away from the salivating action. It's not like I'm complaining. That's probably my favorite scene of the movie (I'm an 18 year old male), but did it really belong? Overall, a very enjoyable movie with a twisted plot, but with mediocre acting and scenes that just seem to go on too long. Judge for yourself. Worth the money, I guess. But if you haven't seen it yet, I reccommend you rent it before you spend your hard-earned 15 bucks to own it.
Rating: Summary: Cruel Liaison Review: This movie is modernized, teenage-ized, Americanized version of the great movie, "Dangerous Liaison", only with lesser actors and actresses. It was funny that Phillippe sometimes immitates Malchovich's speaking. Overall, the quality of this movie really can't match that of Dangerous Liaison. For the people who haven't seen DL, this movie could be still enjoyable (thus 2 stars). For the people who already watched DL, save your money.
Rating: Summary: Cruel Intentions Review: A horrible movie, with bad acting (let me say that i despise Sarah Michelle Whats-it) but a heart-felt ending. Definitely not worth paying 8.00 or 3.75 for.
Rating: Summary: BRILLIANT! Review: THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVE MOVIES. IT'S SOOOOOO GOOD! RYAN PHILLIPPE'S ACTING WAS REALLY GOOD AND HE LOOKED DELICIOUS!(WON'T GO INTO THAT!) REESE WITHERSPOON WAS REALLY GOOD AND LOOKED BEAUTIFUL, SARAH MICHELLE GELLAR'S ACTING WAS AMAZING, SELMA BLAIR WAS REALLY FUNNY AND THE SOUNDTRACK IS ACE! LET ME GIVE YOU SOME ADVICE THOUGH, DO NOT, I REPEAT NOT WATCH THIS WITH YOUR PARENTS(IF YOU'RE UNDER AGE) AND GO RENT OR BUY THIS MOVIE!
