Summary: A Truely Wicked Movie
Review: Sarah Michelle Gellar (who is extremely sexy as a brunette) is great in this movie. Definitely up to the part, as are Ryan Phillippe and Reese Witherspoon. Although many people find this movie to be a disappointment as a remake, I believe it was done in the fashion that a GOOD remake should be-it included new twists and turns that were not included in Liasons.

Summary: A NEW AGE DANGEROUS LIASIONS
Review: BETTER THEN THE ORIGINAL. SARAH MICHELLE GELLAR IS WONDERFUL. I MUST ALSO SAY THAT SHE LOOKS EXTRODINARY WITH BROWN HAIR.

THE MOVIE IS SIMILAR TO THE 1980'S MOVIE DANGEROUS LIASIONS EXCEPT FOR THE TIME AND THE STARS.

SEBASTION VALMONT AND HIS HALF SISTER CATHERINE ARE TWO VERY RICH AND SPOILT BRATS. THEY ARE LIVING IN THERE MANHATTERN APARTMENT WHILST ON SCHOOL HOLIDAYS. THERE PARENTS ARE AWAY ON HOLIDAY.

AND AS YOU DO, THEY MAKE A BET ON THE VIRGINITY ON THEIR SCHOOL HEADMASTERS DAUGHTER - PLAYED BY REECE WITHERSPOON.

I REALLY MUST SAYTHAT THE OVERALL MOVIE IS GREAT. RYAN, REESE AND ESPECIALLY SARAH ARE FANTASTIC IN THEIR ROLE.

WATCH OU FOR THE END SCENE WITH THE SONG "BITTER SWEET SYPHONY". ALWAYS GOOD TO SEE THE NASTY PEOPLE GET WHAT HEY DESERVE.

Summary: Not that cruel of an intention
Review: Many people concider cruel intentions to be this big trouble making hit. Unfortunatley, the only trouble i see is when i watch it at home. My mother screams at me to turn it off. I found cruel intentions to be a pretty good film, even though the title should be changed a bit. Ryan Phillipe's character was a little bit shy of cruel, dishonerable yes, but not cruel. The film needed to cool it on the whole lesbian, homosexual vibe. Too many times did we see this happen in this film. In my opinion, cruel intentions had great actors, a nice plot and a firm grasp on teenagers in society, but the movie could have been a little bit cleaner so it wouldnt corrupt the minds of little children who are flipping through channels on a sunday night.

Summary: Outstanding Update of Dangerous Liasions
Review: This film does exactly what a good update of a classic movie/story should do. It is faithful to the original plot, enough so that the fans of the original aren't left scratching their heads in confusion, yet takes several interesing and new ideas into the new story. The young cast, all on the brink of superstardom when cast in this film, shine in these wonderfully written characters. Also, the visual style is outstandingly beautiful...and is examined in a short featurette. The many extras only add to this fantastic movie, a wonderfully witty, sharp film in itself. I recommend this DVD 100%

Summary: The Songs Are Good
Review: The only thing that I found enjoyable about this film is the soundtrack, which is several notches above the film itself. I agree with the previous reviewer that the turnaround of Sebastian is unbelievable. We are supposed to believe that this sociopath falls in love, and suddenly finds grace and a soul? While his sister remains the evil, conniving one? Both are pretty heinous characters throughout the film. In this story it is implied that a truly despicable character can redeem himself without any real effort. Sebastian is transformed into the wronged hero. But perhaps his fate at the end is a commentary on his previous behavior. I hope that was the filmmaker's intention, not just to manipulate us into feeling sorry for him.

The movie itself does an "about-face," going from a satirical comedy to a melodrama. At times Kathryn and Sebastian's behavior and manner of speech is so over-the-top that it is laughable. The only characters who seem somewhat real are Ronald and Annette, though Annette's attraction to Sebastian strikes me as highly unlikely.

(And what is it with the lesbian kissing scene between Kathryn and Cecile? It was not unpleasant to watch, but certainly not necessary or pertinent to the plot. And it seemed out of place considering the characters' personalities.)

This is not the worst movie I've ever seen, but it seems to be a sad commentary on what is acceptable entertainment at the turn of the 21st century. Why do we entertain ourselves with such vulgar and hideous depictions of young life? I know that all films cannot be cheery and rosy. But in my opinion they should have some redeeming value in helping us understand the human condition a little better. There is nothing humanly touching in this movie.

Summary: shocking
Review: An excellent film showing Sarah Michelle Geller at her best, she truely puts the role of buffy to the back of your mind. A shocking, thought provocking film that will keep you gripped to the very end.

Summary: One of my faves.
Review: This is the best dark comedy I have ever seen. It also one of the best casting chosing I have ever seen as well. Sarah Michelle Gellar is startling, sexy and smart, Ryan Phillipe has never been better, Reese Witherspoon is sensitive, sexy and strong while Selma Blair is great as the silly Cecile.

This is much better than the original film "Dangerous Liasons" and if your looking for romance, a drama, lots of laughs and a sexy cast - I totally and fully recommend Cruel Intentions.\

Summary: Liked the happy ending
Review: Frankly, the plot of this film sucks various portions of the anatomy. However, as I watched, I developed a deep seeded hatred for the two main characters. That's why I like the ending. It's always refreshing to see two evil pr***s truly get what's coming to them. I felt almost a sense of satisfaction when Sebastian got bounced off the car. And I had to chuckle with delight when I saw Katherines face at the end. The ending was worth the two hours of monotony.

Summary: A movie I hated!
Review: There have been movies with worse acting, screenplay and production than "Cruel Intentions." However, there are bad movies that you enjoy because of their awfulness and bad movies that you dislike because, well, there's nothing at all that you like. "Cruel Intentions", one of those wonderful "modern day remakes of a classic starring WB network teens" (note sarcasm)is a trashy remake of "Dangerous Liasons". Okay, I'm not one of those always offended moralists who believe that movies destroy society, but I still have to wonder what were the producers thinking? "Dangerous Liasons" by itself is okay because it was an old French classic story featuring consenting adults in wicked games. Teens can't really identify with them, and that's good. So, somehow, they remake that story with lots of pretty faces and modern setting, and in this world where STDs and teen pregnancy (I know I sound horrible, but still) are rampant, do you really want this as something to look up to. But take away that, "Cruel Intentions" is still an awful excuse for a movie. Movies thrive when there are characters that you can like. This movie has none of those, and instead, you end up hating Phillipe and Gellar. Somehow, the Sebastain character is supposed to have some miraculous turn around and you are supposed to love him, but that never comes through. I didn't feel sad at the ending or anything; all the characters seemed to get what they deserved. Phillipe is just another subpar actor who only attracts audiences because of his looks (read: Leo Dicaprio). Gellar was pretty non-impressive. Selma Blair is a pretty face, but she didn't do much either. The only one who did a quarter of a decent job was Witherspoon, and even she should be ashamed to be part of this mess. Reese was truly incredible in "Election" (a far superior movie) and I hope she stays away from turkeys such as this despicable flick.

Summary: Cruel Intentions Slapped Me Silly!
Review: Ever put in a movie, sit through it, finish it, and just see the credits as you say "Damn..."? Rent Cruel Intentions starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe, and Reese Witherspoon if you've never experienced that. Sebastian (Phillippe) will stop at nothing to win a bet with his step-sister Kathryn (Gellar). He must woo the young Annette (Witherspoon) in order to win. If Kathryn wins, she gets his car. If Sebastian wins, he gets her...in bed. One rule according to Sebastian's mind: Don't fall in love. With nonstop twists and jawdropping surprizes, Cruel Intentions is a film that is sure to please people of all ages. Rated R for nudity, course language, and gobs of sexual matter.
