Rating: Summary: Cruel Intentions is AWESOME! Review: Ok, this movie is really great. Especially if you are a Ryan Phillippe fan! You probably know what it's about by now. A brother, played by Ryan Phillippe, makes a bet with his step-sister, played by Sarah Michelle Gellar, to have sex with the virgin, played by Reese Witherspoon. Then this whole romantic thing between Ryan and Reese unfolds. Anyway, I totally loved this movie. And the soundtrack is excellent. One thing about the DVD version is (and I love this) you can watch it in full screen. I'm not a widescreen fan, so this feature was great. I also liked to watch some of the deleted scenes and the commentary was very interesting. It had a mild amount of special features. All in all, if you don't get this DVD (or VHS), you are seriously missing out on some great acting!
Rating: Summary: Cruel movie Review: I don't care at all about the infamous lesbian kiss in this picture. This is a only a detail ina horrible movie that is horrible because the screenplay is horrible. Philips is at his worst as an actor, Whiterspoon is ridiculous. THis is so bad as "CLUELESS". Skip it, it's a typical modern garbage.
Rating: Summary: Good Movie Review: I liked, this movie well the acting was, good Sarah Michelle Gellar is a good actress to me I saw her in "Scream 2" "I know what you did last summer" they were, good well it's worth watching you'll like it.......
Rating: Summary: Great and Intrueging(?)! Review: Hey!~ This was a really great movie! The chemistry between Witherspoon and Phillippe is electric! Gellar's role in this extrondainary film is exceptional and promising. Gellar plays Kathrine, a mysterious but harmful woman who takes pride in destroying other peoples lives. Phillippe is a gorgeous womanizer who finds true love in Annette (Witherspoon) Watch it and have tissues ready!
Rating: Summary: Shallow, Sinful, Sexy Review: There is something about the casting in this film, ie: every lead seems to fit their character perfectly.Ryan Phillipe is great as the sexy and manipulative Sebastian who falls for the one girl who doesn't fall for him. Reese Witherspoon is excellent as the virgin-in-waiting. Between her performance here and that in last year's Election, she has proven herself to be one of the most talented young actors around. Overall, I think Sarah Michelle Gellar steals the show here (my boyfriend agrees with me on this one, believe me) as a conniving, two-faced, slithering sex godess who gets hers. Let's just say The Verve's "Bittersweet Symphony" was "made" for the ending of this film. Of course, the film is over the top and kinda silly. But it's great entertainment. And, as another reviewer said, the cast is very sexy. (Let's not forget Selma Blair here, who does a great job playing an "innocent" who is easily (and very willingly) corrupted.) So to sum up, steamy movie, plot twists, sex, a love story, beautiful homes, people, clothes and surroundings. A shallow, sinful little way to spend an evening. Which is nice once in a while, like a grande frapuccino, really sweet, but yummy.
Rating: Summary: Sensual and involving teen comedy dram Review: It is a shame that this film is famed for a lesbian kiss, because that one moment seems to overshadow the rest of this creative, amusing, and utterly enthralling film about two manipulative step-siblings and their eventual downfalls. This film is essentially about Sebastian making a bet with his step-sister and object of obsession Kathryn that he can get celibate virgin Annette into bed. If he loses? She gets his '56 Jaguar Roadster. But if he wins? He gets to 'put it anywhere', so to speak, and I'm not talking about the car anymore. Great premise, if not morally warped. If that doesn't appeal to your dark sense of humour, then this isn't the film for you. Otherwise, read on... Ryan Philippe plays Sebastian cool and subtle as the sensualist with a heart of lead, a character imbued with such manipulative charm that you cannot help but like him. Reese Witherspoon, Philippe's real-life wife, amazingly resists the 'butter-wouldn't-melt' stereotype associated with such a moralistic role and is an intriguing balance to Sebastian's icy charisma. But it is Sarah Michelle Gellar, old Buffy herself, who steals the show as the promiscuous cocaine addict Kathryn, all at once sultry and evil and incredibly alluring. The sexual chemistry between Gellar and Philippe is electric, every scene that they share infused with an air of sensual arousal that is clearly created by the actors' own youthful hormones running wild. As far as putting feelings onto film is concerned, these scenes fully convey their lustful platonic relationship as an almost tangible emotion, and it is this that is the film's starring grace. The story swings and bounds as two stories in one, Sebastian's quest for sex and Kathryn's attempted revenge upon innocent boyfriend-stealing Cecile merging into one engaging twisted schematic. There was always, of course, the risk of the ending becoming schmaltzy (Philippe, inevitably, realising he truly does love Ms. Witherspoon, like all good Hollywood fare), but, despite Sebastian's evident change of heart, the false sentimentality of this is, thankfully, avoided. Not overly cleverly, mind, for it does not sit well with the rest of the story, but the final scene of Kathryn's downfall fully redeem it, as The Verve's 'Bittersweet Symphony' plays triumphantly in the foreground. It is truly one of those classic movie moments, up there with the greats. Obviously, Cruel Intentions is not a realistic film. It is deliciously overblown in the way that 'Wild Things' is overblown, but that does not mean that it's a bad film. Critics have been far too harsh; it's not meant to be taken as a serious representation of teenage life, it's about a bunch of rich kids getting their kicks by playing with other rich kids. Flashy, sexy, entertaining and memorable, you could do much worse than owning a copy of this. And the lesbian kiss is kind of cool...
Rating: Summary: Great <take this from a teen!> Review: it's a good movie one of my faves. Ryan Phillipe is sooo hott <and you get to see his azz! >

Rating: Summary: Just an overall good movie Review: I actually watched this with my teenaged daughter or I would have never chosen it to watch. However, I found myself totally lost in the plot and really loving it. It was just one of those movies that you didn't have to really try to analyze, it was just basically about two spoiled rotten people who would do anything to get what they want. I really started liking Sebastian towards the end, when he decided to come clean! I thought the acting was great. Just one of those chic flicks that would be fun to watch with a couple of good friends.
Rating: Summary: Cheap passion in a luscious package. Review: "Cruel Intentions," the 1999 remaking of the classic tale "Les Liaisons Dangereuses," has so much to work with, and works its characters and its story to the fullest, making this film one of the better examples of teen films. Ryan Phillipe and Sarah Michelle Gellar, in their second onscreen appearance together (1997's "I Know What You Did Last Summer"), star as Sebastian Valmont and Kathryn Merteuil, related in law and devious thinking. The film opens with Kathryn's plans to bring down the girl her ex-boyfriend fell for, and Sebastian's hopes to bed the new headmaster's daugther Annette, played by Reese Witherspoon. Kathryn places a bet with her step-brother that if he beds Annette, he will get to sleep with her as well. The race is on as Sebastian begins courting Annette, flunking at first, but soon succeeding thereafter. In his quest, he soons begins to realize that he is in love with Annette, but is caught between his love and the bet with his step-sister. The film has a seductive feel at every moment, and the fact that love can overpower everything is very evident. The young leads all give excellent performances, most notably Gellar, who shines as the vixen of lust and betrayal. While this movie cannot compare to "Dangerous Liaisons," it is certainly a new and fresh take on the classic tale.
