Rating: Summary: Great plot, great cast! Review: I have to say that when i orriginally first went to see the movie i did so because it contains some of my favorite actors, i wasnt expecting such an exellant story line that i got. I dont think that there is a single fault with cruel intentions, although i dont recomend it for younger people but teens are gonna love it. Its completly different from any other movie ive seen, and all charectors are acted superbly.
Rating: Summary: Great idea, excellent cast, but does not quite pull it off Review: This is one of those movie ideas that sounds like it is foolproof: "Les Liaisons Danereuses" set in high school. However, when you see "Cruel Intentions" it becomes clear that in the final analysis, writer-Director Roger Kumble is not worthy of his own idea. Certainly you cannot fault the cast of Sarah Michelle Gellar as the evil Kathryn, Ryan Phillippe as the callous Sebastian, Selma Blair as the gawky Cecile or Reese Witherspoon as the too good to be true Annette. However, the idea that this is fun and games for the idle rich, which worked in "Dangerous Liasions," works against this younger crowd. If you survived high school you know that kids do not need to come from money to do horrible things to one another. If you are going to update the story to this century you should also recalibrate it for your target audience. The bet between Kathryn and Sebastian be her body versus his car will still work. After all, the goal here was for this version to ring true with teenagers. Ultimately, the climax of the movie is carried more by the use of "Bitter Sweet Symphony" than anything else. The most ironic aspect of "Cruel Intentions" is that it just proves that Gellar's television show, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," is the most accurate depiction of the horrible things high school students do to one another currently available. But fans of Buffy did not really need to see this movie to know that was already true.
Rating: Summary: A MUST HAVE Review: Cruel Intentions is a wickedly sexy film. Sarah Michelle Gellar and Ryan Phillipe play two spiolt step siblings(Kathryn and Sebastian). They make a bet. If Kathryn succesfully makes her rival Cecile(Selma Blair) life a misery, she gets Sebastian's car. If she fails and Sebastian succesfully sleeps with the beautiful virginial headmasters daugther (Reese Witherspoon)he gets the most tempting prize of all, kathryn. The plot is racy with tactful and sarcastic phrases. The music to the film sends your pulse racing. My advice is to get this out on video!
Rating: Summary: Entertaining, but juvenile Review: Cruel Intentions takes an intriguing plot and makes it ridiculous by putting it in a highschool setting. It is something of a mid-teen fantasy movie: it makes your average highschooler feel very adult when faced with "peers" Kathryn (Gellar) and Sebastian (Phillippe) playing the games of lust, deceit, and sexual ruination as if they really had any idea at 18 about real life. Phillippe manages to pull off his character, but Gellar is completely unsuited for the role of the psuedo-enlightened highschool student. The plot is much more suited to the setting of Dangerous Liasons, on which this movie was based.Having said all of that, if you can get past the juvenile nature of it and watch the movie for what it is, it is still reasonably entertaining, and will still serve to occupy you for it's 97 minute runtime.
Rating: Summary: Smart and oh-so-sexy Review: I've seen both Dangerous Liaisons and this film and the one who calls the former "superior" is wrong. The real highlight of the film is Sarah Michelle Gellar's character, and I am saying though I never really liked any of her other film and TV works. I've yet to see such talent. Gellar never holds back to show her talent. Aren't you sick of those teeny-bopper movies in which the girl always get wooed by the guy? Well, Gellar as Kathryn is certainly none such. Kathryn is a woman of sexuality and bitter cynicism. She and her steprother Sebastian are both decadent and very sophisticated, smooth in every way. Yet she exceeds Sebastian in the sense that she makes her promisicuity a secret and she maintains her "good" reputations as school president. Furthermore, I have yet to see a female character in a film who possesses such confidence and pompous pride in her sexuality. This is a woman who takes control of her destiny. This is why Cruel Intentions is an innovative film. The duo scenes with Kathryn and Sebastian ooze with naughty sexual tension, all done in the most sophisticated grace, of course. Trust me, you NEED to watch them. Unlike Dangerous Liaisons, there are no nude scenes. However, trust me when I say this film is VERY RISQUE. The whole cast is excellent. Selma Blair as the innocent, yet VERY curious Cecil is charming. As for Reese Witherspoon, this is quite a contrast to the other roles I've seen her such as Pleasantville and Election. Nevertheless, her talent in undeniable. Ryan Phillippe as Sebastian (thank goodness, he doesn't play the sterretypical senstivie guy in this film) matches Kathryn's seductive talent. However, the ending is rather weird, so I suggest you to skip the ending. The best part is the beginning.
Rating: Summary: Good movie Review: "Cruel Intentions" is a strange kind of movie. Kathryn (Sarah Michelle Gellar) bets against her stepbrother Sebastian (Ryan Phillippe) that he won't be able to get Annette (Reese Witherspoon) in the bed and take her virginity away by a certain amount of time. If he does, he gets Kathryn. If he doesn't, Kathryn gets his Jaguar. The reason "Cruel Intentions" is a good movie is because it's well acted. Sarah Michelle Gellar does a good job portraying the two-faced and sexy Kathryn. Reese Witherspoon does a good job of acting innocent and down to earth. And Ryan Phillippe does a good job playing as Sebastian, who can't easily make up his mind on what he should do. The story and the script are also well done for the movie. If you like good movies with some interesting twists and an intriguing plot, I recommend getting "Cruel Intentions."

Rating: Summary: My Intentions for Cruel Intentions Review: Well, to start with who could pass up such an awesome movie? Alright I do admit that the first time I saw this movie I didn't understand it and it seemed boring, mostly because I hadn't paid much attentions to it. I regret that now. I happen to place this movie as my number one favorite movie, it is a awesome movie full of subjects to talk about and dicuss. It does make you feel that if you are in the game of suduction you best not fall in love, because someone will try to throw you. Life in genral is like that. Being told to do something then after doing that they tell you that it tis wrong and unjust. Well this movie has changed my thoughts and opinions, I do hope it changes yours because I think Roger Kumble did an awesome job and picked a spectacular cast!
Rating: Summary: The title says it all Review: This movie has to be one of the best good vs. evil movies that I have ever seen, and the most unpleasant and disturbing one. I watched it, and I thought it was an okay film about how evil people can be towards one another. I would not reccommend this to everyone...The plot is so trashy. But if your looking for a movie where the good guys win, go ahead, but be forewarned. There is plenty of graphic sex talk, and some of the scenes are really graphic too.
