Rating: Summary: Smooth and sexy Review: This movie is an excellent blend of romance, drama, and deceit. In the beginning, Kathryn and Sebastian are both out to ruin as many lives as possible. They use sex and secrets as their weapon. Sebastian became involved in a bet to devirginize the new headmaster's daughter. If he wins, he gets to have sex with Kathryn. In the midst of the bet, he falls in love with her. This love leads to tragedy and revenge.
Rating: Summary: Insipid and histrionic Review: Can someone explain the fascination with Ryan Phillippe? Aside from his boyish good looks, I can't see an ounce of talent in any of his performances. You can actually see the words on the page as he's saying them. And this performance is no exception.Save your time and money. For a lesson in how this story should be told (read: beautiful Directing and Acting), rent 'Dangerous Liaisons' with Close, Malkovich and Pfeiffer. You'll understand why this story was told... not just see pretty young actors stumble through scenes with nary a thought in their heads. Reese Witherspoon does actually pull off a nice performance, but it's a little too late to save this stinker.
Rating: Summary: Best movie that i've ever seen! Review: This movie is about two stepbrothers that had made some cruel stuff just for vengance or for just pleasure. These stepbrothers Kathiryn(Sarah Michelle Gellar)and Sebastian(Ryan Phillipe)make a bet involving a young girl named Annet(Reese). If Sebastian "ruined" Annet's life and made himself a legend in school his prize would be his stepsister Kathiryn wich he had wanted since their parents got married. If Kathiryn won she would have her stepbrother's car. What happens is that Sebastian started to really like Annet and starts having deep feelings for her and then Kathiryn felt jealous of her because Sebastian didn't love her anymore and makes him feel ashamed of himself because of the person that he has become. At the end Sebastian dies but revenge starts after his death. I promise you that if you see this movie you'll love it.
Rating: Summary: SOOOOOOOOOO Sad Review: My favorite part of the movie is Reese Witherspoon. She is my favorite actress, and was great in this movie. Ryan Phillippe is not only really cute, but a great actor. The entire movie is really entertaining, but I must admit I would change the ending.
Rating: Summary: GREAT! Review: This is an excellant movie! I think everyone one should be able to endure the great acting by the cast!
Rating: Summary: What an amazing film! Review: I just finished watching this movie for the second time. I find it to be a truly wonderful film. At first I thought it would be about sex and not really have a plot to it. When I watched it for the first time, I realized how wrong I had been. There is so much more to "Cruel Intentions" than sex. This film was one of very few that kept me on the edge of my seat. The ending made it the most wonderful. Ok, what happens I really didn't want to happen, but it made me think (and cry). When I watch this movie, I fall in love with Sebastian, hate Kathryn, and admire Annette.
Rating: Summary: 4 for the movie 1 for the ending Review: this movie was good but what the heck came to when the ending came up. ryan philepee dies big fricking deal. wheres the nc17 rating also.
Rating: Summary: A nice update, but not as successful as one might hope for Review: As must be clear by now, this movie is an update of the famous "Les Liasions Dangereuses" (sp?). It succeeds in transporting a story set some centuries ago to a contemporary setting, but it is not as tight as it should be. The (first-time) director is clearly not capable of making a good movie, but his cinematographer, set designer and costume designer help him more than he deserves. Overall, the actors are well chosen and perform admirably. Especially Sarah Michelle Gellar and Reese Witherspoon give a good performance, but Ryan Phillipe never manages to be believable as a leading man. Although he seems to try, he can never dispel the early image of a boring, snotty rich kid. When watching the deleted scenes, one realizes that the director had a big problem grasping the strenghts of the character and because of this, Phillipe's "change" is never believable. Still, audio and video-wise, this DVD is excellent, and there are far worse movies out there to watch. Just forget about the director, he is a hack.
Rating: Summary: Cruel Intentions Review: Well I think that this movie was a really good one, it is about a player (Ryan Phillippe), who makes a bet with his step sister about sleeping with this virgian girl who is staying in his aunts house, it has a rather unique ending, but it is a great movie, and kinda twisted. If you haven't seen it you should rent it or buy it, then make your chioce.
Rating: Summary: Moody yet fun Review: Whilst certainly not the best film ever, it is pleasant to see a teen film not filled with blood, gore and mediocre casting. The actors here are superb - Gellar and Phillipe obviously love their roles and Blair adds some much needed humour to this dark tale. It's a decidedly modern affair all round, and it's rare that a film so jam-packed with innuendoes should have relatively little explicit content. My only real complaint is Witherspoon, whose stolid acting brings the film down a little. She's the oddly stereotypical virgin all right, but she shows surprisingly little emotion. Only at the end does she pull through, although her sudden shift in character seems a little contrived. However, a great film nonetheless with a gorgeous soundtrack.
