Summary: I like the movie..but bad acting
Review: Bad acting plagued this movie...Ryan Phillipe and Sarah Michelle Gellar are lousy and rather unbelievable in their roles. Reese Witherspoon and Selma Blair turn out excellent performances that (thankfully) detract from the terrible performance of the show's "stars".

Summary: Eye and Brain Candy
Review: Cruel Intentions is Dangerous Liasons in prep school, but that fact is largely forgotten considering the emphasis on a youthful fantasy of being young, pretty, and wealthy.

It is easy to forget the plot when you get to ogle Sarah Michelle Gellar and Reese Witherspoon for ninety minutes. I suppose girls feel the same way about Ryan Phillippe, no?

The convoluted plot contains revenge on ex-lovers, the corruption of the pure, and the redemption of the evil. One never expects until the last few minutes of the movie exactly who is who from that last sentence.

I suppose I wouldn't be a guy if I didn't mention that the scene where Reese Witherspoon slinks out of the swiiming pool in a soaking wet bathing suit is worth the price of admission alone.

Summary: The Greatest Movie Ever
Review: Cruel Intentions is my favorite movie. The acting is great, the writing is great, the sets are great, everything is great. Seeing this movie sparked my interest in the genre, so I have seen Dangerous Liasons and Valmont. But by far, this one is so much better, the ending, while sad, is a perfect ending. The characters, while mean, are unforgettable charecters. I even bought the movie poster i love this movie so much! You can not take your eyes of the movie, like Katherine and Sebastion, it's totally seductive. If you don't have this movie stop reading this and buy it, now. There is no way you'll regret it, it's THE best!

Summary: Surprise entertainment
Review: When I first saw the trailer for Cruel Intentions in theaters, I was not very impressed. It did seem rather interesting, a break from the movies I had previously seen (I hadn't seen or known about Dangerous Liaisons at that point). When I went to see Cruel Intentions, however, I was very impressed. The movie started out as rather comedic, and guiltily I found myself laughing at the wicked things the two villains did to the people around them. As I watched the movie it was a very entertaining and new experience to be looking at things from the point of view of the villains; it was almost as though they became the protagonists even though they were actually the antagonists. The acting in the movie was really what stood out, in my opinion. Ryan Phillippe was awesome playing a cunning womanizer, and he made the transition from villain to hero very well. Reese Witherspoon was also extremely talented in the role of Annette, portraying her with a strength that is much different, and much more entertaining, from the helpless virgin in Dangerous Liaisons. Sarah Michelle Gellar was particularly wonderful as Kathryn Merteuil. I was extremely surprised at how accurately and satisfactorily she went from vampire-slaying hero to life-destroying seductress. All in all, the movie was superb. I definitely recommend it.

Summary: Care to make a wager on that??
Review: I have seen every movie adaptation of "Les Liasoins Dangereuse" that has been made. Dangerous Liasons would probably be my favorite because i love the cast, the tension in the storyline and the pace at which the movie runs... "Valmont" with Annette Bening and fairuza Balk was a little slow and kind of awkward to watch, but i liked it.. However.. None of them was as entertaining as "Cruel Intentions". This movie took the cruelty of Katherine and the innocense of Cecille to a whole new level.. sarah Michelle Gellar could not have played this role any better.. Selma Blair portrayed the young innocent twit to the hilt, and you actually get to feel sorry for Valmont.. Malkovich couldnt have worked his magic nearly as well as Phillippe did.. This is a must see movie for anyone, any age who wants to be entertained and see the bad girl get whats coming to her..

Summary: Put on the shields
Review: This is not a movie for children who think that the characters in this movie are "cool". This is for those people who wish to see just why our western culture is coming apart at the seems. There are so many metaphors in the dialogue connectiong something decent and what was once considered incorruptible with a horrid act that the character makes. Do not buy this movie thinking that it would be good for junior high students. This is for those who are sophisticated enough to realize the behavior is not to be copied.

Summary: Steamy unpredictable fare
Review: I hadn't wanted to see "Cruel Intentions" because I thought it would be the typical teen fare. I was completely surprised by how good it was. Sarah Michelle Gellar and Ryan Phillipe are really good as step-siblings who are rich, bored, and scheming. Reese Witherspoon strikes all the right notes in her portrayal of an innocent sweet girl. The film will keep you guessing, and is entertaining throughout. A good film in the style of "Dangerous Liasons".

Summary: Very very amusing....
Review: The first time i saw this movie i thought i was going to hate it. Once I saw it I came out really shocked from the experience. The acting is great and it's fun to see the way the people in this movie behave, it's very odd and unlike any other film i've seen....

Cruel Intentions has a tried and true plot but this is probably the best it's been done, i don't think you can use that plot and outdo this movie.

This movie is a good insight into why people act the way they act and shows how the emotional consequence of what you do will catch up to you.

It's smart, funny, and a hell of a good time. Definitely 5/5.

Summary: A little toy I like to play with....
Review: When you're young, you watch your favorite movie ("The Little Mermaid", for instance) about 6 times a weekand yet it never seems to get old. But as you grow up, it's a rarity to find a movie that you can watch over and over without getting bored of it. Cruel Intentions is a good example--I've seen it 13 times, and I plan to watch it a million more. Sarah Michelle Gellar and Ryan Phillippe deliver wonderful performances, and I believe they were born to play the roles of these 2 mean-hearted high school students. Sometimes, I think that adults forget what an evil time high school really CAN be. This movie portrays that sort of thing: People using people for sex, homosexuality, inter-racial sex, de-virginizing innocent girls, backstabbing, love, pain, drugs, revenge.... Thats high school, baby. People don't always want to believe it, but its the truth, and for some, it's an every day reality. If you consider yourself to be a sheltered person, this movie can open your eyes when you didnt even know they were shut. Within every person, there is a certain darkness. And its up to that person to keep it in or let it out. And SMG definitly lets it out! We'll never know what happned tomake her character, Kathryn, be that way. Maybe there was an incident in her life....or maybe she was just born with it. Thats part of the mystery. This movie had humor too. Granted, it wasn't "light" humor, but it was funny. This movie made me smile, as well as almost cry. I loved how there were so many twists, and everyone is somehow connected to everyone. I never got bored with it, and the ending was a definite shock to me. Though I wouldn't reccomend you watch this with your parents or younger children, I certainly reccomend watching it.

Summary: LOVED IT!
Review: I loved this movie. It has intrigue, fabulous dialogue, great characters and is utterly compelling. The sexual tension between Ryan Phillippe and Sarah Michelle Gellar is rivetting. All the characters are interesting and believable. I am surprised at some of the harsh criticism at this film. Okay, it may not be an award-winning masterpiece, but it is truly entertaining. It is smart and sexy!

I think Reese Witherspoon gives the best performance of the cast, and am surprised at the reviewers here who disliked her. She was my favourite part of the film. She plays Annette with perfect subtlety, portraying her as a girl who is virtuous and wholesome, yet is neither naive nor smugly self-satisfied. Some people here have singled out Gellar as the best performance in the film, but I would disagree. She is adequate in the role, but a bit obvious. Witherspoon's talent on the other hand shines through here.
