Rating: Summary: Good thriller, good romance Review: A fromantic yet classic tale of what true love means. Fans of Swayze will not be disappointed. Demi Moore was good. But Whoopi Goldberg was the best! She definutely deserved the oscar she won for this thriller and romance tale. this one is a big tear jerker.
Rating: Summary: Original et romantique Review: J'adore ce film que j'ai vu une bonne dizaine de fois. Il est original, romantique, et les acteurs sont parfaits! On passe un moment tres agreable.
Rating: Summary: A Classic Review: Ghost is one of those movies that will be a classic through the years. Its serious, but with humor. Whoopi Goldberg's character keeps the movie from getting too dark and heavy. I remember when it first came out, some people said they went to church for the first time in a long while.
Rating: Summary: Why don't they have this title on DVD? Review: Alas, I have only seen the second half of this movie- it was on TV one time. My complaint is that this title is not available in DVD format! I'm wondering this because I have a DVD-ROM drive in my computer, and I don't have a VCR. I think this is a great chick flick- I liked it, and it's a perfect date movie.
Rating: Summary: Rather better than some, but not well Review: This movie has all the ingredients for a truly beautiful movie, but they just never mix. I'm quite a fan of the "Ghostly/Eternal love" theme, but this movie just can't compare with the great movies of that genre such as Always, A guy named joe and the best of them all, Gene Tierney, and Rex Harrison's The Ghost an Mrs. Muir (1947)
Rating: Summary: (After)Life is Beautiful Review: Swayze and Moore, aided by Whoopi's deft mugging as a spiritual medium, combine to make "Ghost" probably THE film for the 90s. At its heart the film manipulates the audience into believing that death ain't so bad after all, as long as one has no unfinished business in the earthly realm. This has long been a popular subject for story tellers, but in the hands of director Jerry Zucker it became an art form. Slow, lingering shots of Demi and Patrick in soft-core romantic embraces and heart-tugging farewells, mixed in with Whoopi's good-humouredly acerbic wit provided audiences with just the right ingredients for a full film-going experience. Zucker's manipulation was of course aimed straight for maximum box-office pull as the Kleenex brigade went into overdrive (at least at the session I attended). After the doggedly downbeat realism of the films of the 70s, and the mindless teenage sex farces of the 80s, Zucker and co decided that 90s audiences were ready for romantic drama, seemingly moribund since "Love Story". In light of the interminably cutesy pap that has rolled off the Dream Factory's production line since "Ghost", the question might need to be asked whether enough is enough. For this viewer the answer is an uneqivocal YES. However the movie-going public obviously has its own mind about such matters, reflected in the continuing box-office triumphs of "Titanic" and its ilk.
Rating: Summary: My first "chick" film Review: Oh yeah, for all you guy who can cuddling your girlfriends or date while seeing this picture go right ahead. Great supporting casting from Whoppi Goldberg. She deserved to recieve her Oscar.
Rating: Summary: A fine time to be ladylike Review: Whoopy Cushion, uh, Goldberg is very funny in GHOST but beyond her, the film's entertainment value plummets. Why? Demi Moore's character is so darn stupid. The scene that blew it for me: she stands there in frozen panic watching the murder of her boyfriend. You won't even run for help, Dummy, uh, Demi? Just hang around gawking as Patrick Swayze gets killed. It reminded me of those "Superman" episodes where thugs would beat the heck out of Jimmy Olsen while Lois Lane stood there like a wax figure. Women!
