Summary: reallhy good
Review: This is a wonderful movie with truly great actors (Jessica Lange and Tommy Lee Jones....So young). A MUST in the collections of music afficiadoes everywhere! This has very poor quality sound, but since it is so difficult to purchase anywhere, one must be happy to have ANY version of it at all.

Summary: A Love Story With Superb Acting from Jessica Lange
Review: This is Jessica's best career performance. I liked this move from start to finish. As much as it was about Patsy's career, the movie did well as a love story between Patsy and her husband.

To the director's credit, the movie captures an era of the southern U.S. in a nostalgic way without glorfying it.

Generaly speaking, I am not a country music fan, but Patsy Cline's music is great.

Summary: Thoroughly entertaining!!!
Review: This is one of my Top Ten favorites of all time. I am a huge Patsy Cline fan and although this movie is just a dramatization of the actual events of this remarkable woman's life, I feel that Jessica Lange portrays Patsy with the spunk that Patsy herself was known to be filled with. If you loved Coal Minor's Daughter and you are a Country Music fan or if you just love a great movie this is a must own for you.

Summary: A Tribute To Patsy Cline
Review: This movie got me interested in Patsy Cline's music back in the 1980s. Jessica Lange is perfect as Patsy. And no matter what I see Ed Harris in, he will always be Charlie Dick. He was so good in that role. If you have a problem with profanity, don't watch this movie. Patsy must have had a really "salty" tongue. This is a great movie just the same.

Summary: Mediocre Hollywood-ized biography. Run of the mill.
Review: This movie is about the life and tragic death of Patsy Cline, the great country singer. Unfortunately, it is a very routine Hollywood-ization biography, and is certainly nothing special. Also, from what I've read, Patsy Cline wasn't like this at all; she had more of a reckless personality, according to what I've read. Jessica Lange does a great job lip-synching Cline's recordings, but the script does in the movie. The only interesting thing in this movie for me was that I saw them filming some of the scenes, as I lived in Martinsburg, West Virginia at the time. Martinsburg is where they filmed the majority of the film. I enjoy watching the movie just to see things that bring back memories of Martinsburg for me (As they pan the city, for example, I can see the apartment building that I lived in). But for the majority of people, meaning those that never lived in Martinsburg, West Virginia, this movie is a waste of time.

Summary: This movie is entertaining for those who like country music.
Review: This movie is interesting on the life of Patsy Cline. She was a go-getter and had a short lived life. Unfortunately things happened the way they did because if she would have lived longer she would have been big in the music industry. The way the movie portrays her she seemed to have been a fun and spunky person. I would recommend this movie. It's a keeper.

Summary: CALLING ALL PATSY CLINE FANS...
Review: This movie, featuring great performances by Jessica Lange as Patsy Cline, and Ed Harris as Charley Dick, Cline's husband, chronicles the life and times of Patsy Cline, her rise to stardom, and her all too brief hold on it.

Jessica Lange gives a wonderful, believable performance as Patsy Cline. Ed Harris, as her hard drinking, womanizing, and ultimately abusive husband, plays his role to perfection. John Goodman has a small role in the film as Charley Dick's good ol' boy, meat head friend.

The movie shows how this poorly educated, young woman with a throaty and achingly rich voice went on to become one of the greatest crossover talents ever to come out of Nashville. Her flame burned brightly for several years, until it was extinguished when a plane in which she was a passenger crashed headlong into a mountain.

Her music runs throughout the entire film. If you are not a Patsy Cline fan when you first sit down to view this film, then you surely will be by the time you finish doing so. No one sang with more feeling than Patsy Cline, and she evidently lived her life the same way. This is a terrific movie and well worth watching! --This text refers to the VHS Tape edition

Summary: Wonderful Patsy Cline/Jessica Lange!
Review: To my mind, this is one of the better biographical movies I have ever seen. Jessica Lange portrays Patsy Cline very well, with her lip-synching to Patsy's wonderful songs. Even the costumes Jessica wears resemble those on Patsy's LPs and still photos. I am totally impressed with this film. I saw it in a theater in its initial release, and a friend copied it off TV - my first movie. I enjoyed it then, and now, with this DVD copy, I can enjoy it even more.

Summary: Entertaining, if not accurate
Review: Whatever her personal tragedies were, Patsy's real legacy is her music.
(Even if you aren't a fan, I defy you not too be moved by the voice.)
Patsy Cline broke a lot of rules and opened a lot of doors for many female country singers ( Dottie West, Loretta Lynn and Tammy Wynette to name a few ).
Strong performances by both leads and the supporting cast keep the film flowing well.
If you can forgive the few inaccuries and fabrications (The re-creation of Patsy's last moments and minor details of her personal life) you will enjoy this inspiring rags-to-riches story.
