Summary: 20-th Century Faust
Review: A masmerizing film which can only be compared with such eternal classic as Goethe's Faust. It works extremely well on both emotional and intelectual level.

I can't understand why Pacino and Hackford weren't even nominated for Oscars. With this movie both won my respect forever.

I saw the film in January 1998 just on the next day after I saw "Titanic". "Devil's Advocate" however made it look inferior. The most remarkable thing about the film is its story line. The level of suspense is mounting gradually throughout the film. Everything culminates with a tripple twist at the end that blows your mind. Anybody who claims that this movie is predictable must be a medium.

Nothing short of five stars!

Summary: Profound movie...deeply spiritual.
Review: The best spiritual movies I ever saw with "The Matrix". "The Devil's Advocate" present an underlying spirituality content that is very deep and rich in a very entertaining way. The movie keeps you absorbed by it continuous twists and questions ( like "The Game"). It portrays all the tricks of deception the mind uses to keep us entangled in this world. Of course the movie wouldn't have been the same without Al Pacino which personally blew me away...the power of the speeches and comments he gave during the all movie wear just phenomenal. The more you watch this movie, the more you start to understand how our powerful mind (i.e. devil) works. It's definitely a keeper.

Summary: Smart, Gothic, Seductive And Thrilling.
Review: "The Devil's Advocate" is a fanastic, gothic, and thrilling film that explores strong subjects with class and style. Here we have a film that's darkly smart and seductive. If you really look at what it says, you'll see that's a portrait of evil and the perversions of lust and vanity. Al Pacino gives an incredible performance, the best one I've seen him give since "Scarface." Director Taylor Hackford adds a lot of great visual style. The cinematography is rich in gothic textures, painting a dark and disturbing canvas. This is an interesting movie that also makes one think. It's more intelligent than Andrew Niederman's novel. The sets are also well-done, especially the large sculpture in John Milton's office. The score by James Newton Howard is dark, haunting, and full of gothic lore. This is a really good movie.

Summary: AL PACINO IS AWSOME
Review: This has to be Al Pacino's best acting since Scarface (1983)he is so funny and deserved an Oscar for his role of the devil.Keanu Reeves is ok (I would have liked the role to be given to Johnny Depp)This is what happens when you let Al Pacino do whatever he wants on camera and Reeves nothing.

Summary: Not Great, Not Horrible
Review: A decent movie with good, strong preformances, especially Charlize Theron. The curch scenes that take place in Gainesville were shot across the street from my house, and I remember watching the crew film them with my mother and sister from my backyard, which was pretty neat!

Summary: good performances by Pacino and Reeves, interesting idea
Review: OK, maybe this wasn't an instant classic, but it was certainly frightening, had some good performances, and was quite creatively done, especially in an era when almost every new movie is the bland old sex-and-violence shoot-em-up kind of thing. I mean, admit it, when's the last time you saw a satanic legal thriller? (some of you classic film buffs may quote "The Devil and Daniel Webster," but that's kind of a different premise.) I enjoyed this movie, and it felt less transparent and more meaningful than a lot of movies today. I especially laugh when all those religious nuts whine about how this movie promotes satanism (look at "viewer from USA"'s comment) when most of them haven't even seen the movie in the first place. If they did, they'd know that it turns you AWAY from satanism, not TOWARDS it! OK, so it's not deep stuff, but still, take a look. It's a good movie with some good performances, and the DVD has a lot of nice extras, like deleted scenes and a commentary. Also, it'll make you not want to live in New York, especially fifth avenue!!

Summary: The most thought provoking movie I have ever seen. Excellent
Review: This movie kept me at the edge of my seat. The reason I liked this movie is because it made me realize that the devil is someone not to be played with. Each scene was more and more exciting. The acting in the movie was top of the line. Go watch it, and make sure your on the Lords army.

Summary: Not bad at all!
Review: Yes, you know pacino is the devil to start out with but it was very exciting to see reeves discover it for himself. I enjoy wathing pacino get crazy and yell and throw his arms all over the place. Loved the sets and the filmography! Very cool time lapse scenes. This is a fun and interesting film for anyone!

Summary: Suspenseful. Thrilling. Seductive. A cleverly made film.
Review: This movie had a great cast, a great storyline, and superb imagination and creativity. The ending was probably one of the most surprising endings ever on film. This movie matches up to some of the best movies I have seen including L.A Confidential and The Usual Suspects.

Summary: Keanu Reeves is surprisingly good.
Review: I was surprised to see Reeves deliver such a magnificent performance. It shows that he really worked hard on this movie. Generally speaking, the movie is amazing, very good acting, very good scenes. Pacino is amazing... no big surprise there.
