Summary: Prince is AWESOME!
Review: Not only does this movie entertain you with the great musice and voice of Prince, it has a bit of a love story to it. I highly recommend this movie to anybody, Prince fan or not...

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: NOTHING COMPARES 2 PRINCE
Review: This movie is the best Prince has done so far. The story is nothing exceptional but it' s DEFINATELY worth seeing especially from people who are not Prince fans and after watching it they' ll sure become!Prince is a UNIQUE and ORIGINAL true artist...this is all I can say.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: This movie was great and Prince can really act!

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Not Widescreen
Review: Please do not be misled by the description above. This is NOT a widescreen version of the movie. For those letterbox fans, this becomes a huge disappointment.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Buy the soundtrack, Skip the movie
Review: Silly melodrama even by t.v. soap opera standards, the only thing "Purple Rain" has to offer is the sight of Prince performing his own material. You'd do better to purchase the fabulous soundtrack or a video anthology of Prince's music videos.

Summary: Baby, I'm a 5 Stars
Review: I watched this movie religiously when i was a teen-ager and literally know every line by heart. Wearing out Purple Rain has taken it's toll on me, but for a new generation of Prince fans it's unmarked territory. After all, i did wear it out for a reason, it's a [darn] good movie. With such hits as "Let's Go Crazy", a spicy performance of "Darling Nikki" ([...] was so tabboo in 1985!) and the classic purple anthem "Purple Rain" being belted out by the one who is not a woman, or a man, he is someone who we'll never understand...Prince! He would die 4 U. So buy his movie. may u live 2 see the dawn.

Summary: See Prince pout, see Prince dance, see Apollonia's underpants
Review: The script is full of non sequiturs, melodrama, and makeup with streaks of ghastly color that could only come from the 80s. Other than the two actors playing Prince's parents, Apollonia Kotero is the only castmember with acting experience, and only from a toothpaste commercial at that! If you've ever wondered what drummer Bobby Z's speaking voice is like, here's your big chance! Oddly, the best looking member of Prince's band, Brown Mark, is the only one without lines (though he purses his lips with the technique of a DeNiro). The sound is great and the print in good shape. The DVD extras (movie trailer, production notes) are okay but not significant enough on their own to purchase it. The moment Morris Day wickedly asks the depressed Prince "How's the family?" is enough to justify the purchase. Get it as a time capsule, wonder why most questions in the dialogue aren't acknowledged by the character being asked. Ponder why large plastic buttons over the front trouser flap never took off as a fashion. Prepare to explain to your children why hair back then was so tall and thick, and don't just blame it on Minnesota. Feel shame at the time in your life or your friend's life when harlequin/clown masks and dolls seemed oh-so-poignant lingering on display in candle-fortified rooms. Get your bag of Doritos and enjoy a time when popular music held the imagination of both the selective and the hoi polloi at the same time. The best special effect of the movie? Apollonia putting on her skin-tight leather outfit seconds after jumping into a lake. This was before CGI! Marvel at the time when Prince aspired to mean something more than solid music, and actually did.

Summary: irritating ego trip
Review: I liked this when it first came out..I saw it when I was 13 years old. But this movie didn't age well--I saw it a couple of days ago and hated it. The whole, "Stop beating Mom! What's wrong with 'the Kid?" thing was hokey.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: this movie has it all.
Review: boy meets girl...boy gets girl...boys rival meets girl..so boy loses girl ..boys rival gets girl..now boy must compete with girl ..all the while going thru tough family problems...but never fear ...love wins and keeps everyone strong. check this classic out

Summary: R&B meets Rock & Roll
Review: A real good look at who actually created the Minneapolis sound. It's a shame that the Time and the Revolution didn't immediately do another movie after this. Think of the potential.
