Review: This is a great movie. I went to see it with an old high school friend/bandmate, so we realated to a lot of what the movie had to say. I've seen some greats and I've seen some who weren't so great try to prove that they were great. Great Tone! I will definately be getting this one for my children.

Summary: Unexpectedly superb
Review: I just saw it in the theater. I wasn't sure how I'd like a movie about a "marching band". The story was good and the music was outstanding, even if you're not into that kind of music. It was not just some "marching band". Devon (Nick Cannon) comes from a sloppy high school band to join the marching band of one of the nation's top bands in Atlanta, GA. The only problem is that the other local university has a top band too and they compete each year. Devon has a real chip on his shoulder when trying do his "thing" within the limits of the very military discipline of the band procedures in this school. While he doesn't change his attitude much, he does become helpful to them.

Review: THIS WAS THE BEST MOVIE I'VE SEEN SINCE SAVE THE LAST DANCE. I GIVE IT 5 STARS BECAUSE IT WAS SUCH A GREAT MOVIE FOR ANYONE WHO WENT TO SEE IT. NOT ONLY DID I LIKE IT BECAUSE OF THAT, BUT ALSO BECAUSE NICK CANNON IS CUTE IN THIS MOVIE.I THINK THAT THIS MOVIE DISPLAYES COMPETITION AND TOGETHERNESS MEANING TWO ENEMIES JOINING FORCES FOR A GREAT CAUSE. I THINK THAT EVERYONE WHO HASN'T SEEN IT YET SHOULD GO OUT AND SEE IT! IT'S THE BEST MOVIE OF THE WINTER! HA! HA!

Inspired by his mother to reach for his goal, Devon, played by Nick Cannon, gets a scholarship to college because of his drum playing. The movie takes us through the boot-camp like try-outs for the coveted band positions, the jealousy between Devon and his section leader, a romance and his almost failure in the band to the battle of the bands.
The movie, though in contemporary language, reinforces the philosophy that paying your dues by hard work standard results in success. A feel good movie with the music provides added the fireworks for the plot. A good flick.

Summary: A Wonderful Tribute to Marching Bands!!
Review: I just saw this movie a couple of days ago and I loved it! The movie shows that marching band isn't just about playing music, it's about dicipline, honor, hardwork and teamwork. So many aren't aware of the work that members endure to entertain the public. This wonderful film respectfully brings to light the challenges and goals that members face in a marching band. The acting was great (I am now a huge Orlando Jones fan) and the soundtrack is awsome. You'll be captivated by the drumline and have a whole new respect for parades and halftime shows after seeing this film. The only complaint I had about the movie was Zoe Saldana. For some reason I didn't care for her in this film. She seemed very cold and reserved and just didn't seem to fit in. I wanted to like her but her acting in this film wasn't terribly memorable. Other than that I highly recommend this film. The drumline will take your breath away.

Review: I loved drumline from the begining to the end. Everything about it was great including the cast. Especially Nick Cannon. I saw it the first day it came out and will be seeing it again. And can't wait until I can own it.

Review: Drumline is a good movie. At first when I heard Nick Cannon had the lead, I thought it would be kid-oriented (because of all his work on Nickelodeon), but it actually isn't; people of all ages should be able to get into it. I also think it's interesting to see Orlando Jones playing the band instructor because I've never seen him in a serious role before, and he does a very good job. I gave this movie only four stars because the ending seemed like it was unfinished-like there should have been one more scene or something. Oh well, it's still worth seeing.

Review: This movie was the best movie I've seen in a long time. The last movie I saw was Barbershop (which I enjoyed), but I think this movie was better. Nick Cannon did a superb job in this film! If you enjoy halftime shows at Southern Universities, you'll think this is a 2 hour long halftime show! You'll be bopping your head to the various bands and songs from familiar artists. Go see it TODAY! By the way, it really isn't for kids younger than 13 (in my opinion). There are some words that I don't feel are appropriate for all ages. ENJOY!

Summary: Bang the Drum Slowly
Review: Just like the wet smack of pelting rain, the coldness of snow on your cheek or the loud snap of a snare drum to your ears comes "Drumline": a charming, intelligent film about a world not often seen on the big screen: the College Marching Band. "Drumline" is the antidote to all the bloated, over-stuffed Holiday films of the coming weeks, which may or may not prove to be worth the many millions of dollars spent on them. "Drumline" costs a small percentage of what most of these films cost but is as effective, human and moving as any film in recent memory.
The basic plotline of "Drumline" is probably as old as movies themselves: young tough Turk, maybe too cocky for his own good (Devon played by Nick Cannon), goes to the big city (or in this case a big time college) and attempts to prove his worth, gets knocked down a couple of times but in the end comes out on top. On the way there he hooks up with the gorgeous Laila (Zoe Saldana of "Center Stage") who probably is too good looking and a couple years too old for him but this does not deter our Devon.
The backstage scenes of the Band and it's arch rival are as fascinating as they are rare: this is really a world most of us know nothing about. What is Universal about "Drumline" though, is that the basic truths of life are emphasized and implemented : loyalty, honesty, hard work, friendship and working as a group to realize goals.
Director Charles Stone II has a keen eye for scene composition and color and he keeps the pace of the film upbeat and positive. "Drumline" is effective and thereby successful because it's world and it's characters both touch our hearts as well as our minds and it does so in an uncompromisingly literate and cosmic manner.
