Summary: A Dazzeling Performance
Review: This movie is the best!! There is a lot of dancing, singing, and much, much more!! Ewan McGregor looks absoutely wonderful!! He has a strong and beautiful voice too! Nicole Kidman fits her role perfectly! One of the best things about this movie is that almost everyone sings (and do not have a voice over). if you enjoy music, dancing, romance, and tragedy, I am certain this movie is for you.

Summary: Don't waste your time
Review: What a mind-bending piece of eye candy! Aside from the fact that our heroine dies very gracefully, despite the fact she has tuberculosis- a particularly nasty disease indeed, the modern soundtrack had the annoying habit of yanking the audience out of the story back into the present. With that in mind, it was extremely difficult to "suspend disbelief." I wanted to like it, but it was just a garbage movie.

Summary: A Romance, Comedy, Drama, Musical
Review: First off I hate Musicals, anything that has music in it I hate it. This movie however I liked a lot. I do not know what it was about this movie but it was good. I thought that it was one hell of a performance. I have seen the Moulin Rouge show in Paris and thought it was fantastic, and at first I did not want to see the movie because I thought it would ruin the show, but it only bettered it. Should have won the Oscar for Best Picture Recommended to anyone who loves to have fun while watching a movie.

Summary: boring
Review: I had been expecting great music and fascinating graphics and acting but to be honest I was dissappointed.
I didn't like most of the songs in the movie, the techno BG was just a headache to me. The CGs are not being used effectively at all, one might as well use hand drawings and they would look better. The story was dull and repeating. Sometimes it just looked ridiculous to me. The movie needs more "faces" than nicole and the hotshot. By the end I was tired of only seeing those 2 faces because most other actors were wearing masks or in heavy makeup and you can't enjoy their expressions.

Summary: A Sumptuous Work of Art
Review: This visually lucious film is without doubt the best of 2001.

Clearly, it's polarized viewers. But I'd venture to say that those who don't like it, simply fail to understand it. For it is sublime, and dares to challenge the viewer to see the romatic musical in a completely new way.

Baz Lurhman takes the MTV music genre to it's highest artistic expression, and has great fun along the way. Get this movie; you'll fall in love all over again.

Summary: Moulin Rouge rocks!
Review: I saw this movie in theaters 3 times and was highly anticipating its DVD release. I was not disappointed. Luhrman provides the audience with tons of special features and takes complete advantage of the options available on DVD. Add that to the fact that this movie is a spectacle of light, sound, costume, and acting, and you get the return of the musical!

Summary: Perfected Interpretation of the Bohemian Life
Review: This movie has been so delicately crafted, perfecting the slightest minutiae. Where the average producer would be content with a good story and good acting, Luhrmann has created his own little realm with dazzling costumes and scenery, dancing, and Victorian melodrama in a modern musical montage. If you're not excited by people breaking into song, then perhaps this film's not for you, but anyone beyond that who can admire any aspect of the romanticised vie de Boheme will find something delightful in this meticulously crafted world. And yet it also has good acting and an excellent story; even for all its melodrama, it's very deliberate and Victorian. (Satine's admiration for silent film actress Sarah Bernhardt is apparent through her way of overdramatising everything.) Though it's overwhelming at first, the amazing stylised feel of Moulin Rouge! comes together wonderfully, and can be enjoyed by anyone who can tolerate musicals (not everyone can).

Summary: The Greatest Thing
Review: This movie is spectacular! (spectacular!) Both volumes of the soundtrack are my favorite CDs, and the film is my favorite among the many I've seen. Almost everyone I know has seen it and would say the same thing. It's not a traditional musical, but if you like this sort of thing, you'll love it too.

Review: This movie is bizarre and hard to follow.

Summary: One of my favorites!
Review: Moulin Rouge is a WONDERFUL film, if you like music, dance, romance, and a pretty heavy touch of the unusual in your films! Personally speaking, I loved Moulin Rouge the first time I saw it, and have seen it several times since then... It provides comedy, drama, and one of the most beautiful love stories I've ever seen...

One of the biggest complaints I've heard is that it's just too *busy*, particularly in the opening dance scene at the Moulin Rouge. Believe me, I agree that scene was frenzied, but get through it if you can.

The long and short of it is, this is either a movie that you really like or you really don't... Be forewarned that it is UNLIKE ANYTHING YOU'VE EVER SEEN! Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing-- well you'll just have to decide for yourself
