Rating: Summary: entertaining and decent but it's missing something... Review: I liked Erin Brockovich. Julia Roberts and Albert Finney gave excellent performances and Steven Soderbough did a terrific job directing. the script was excellent. i just don't know what it was about the movie. there's something missing to it. it's the something in a script that makes a best picture winner-a best picture winner. if u read some of the other reviews you will see the same thing. As for the film itself? It was enjoyable. Julia Roberts will be walking home with an academy award NOMINATION for her dazzling performance as Erin Brockovich, the bad mouthed and trashy clothed mom who desperately goes for a job at a law firm. while there she seeks information on a case involving water contamination. Which soon leads to a series of events until the verdict finally comes in... for the parents: Rated: R for language and sex-related dialogue (appropriate ages 12-13 and up)
Rating: Summary: Not the typical small guy against the system Review: Erin Brockovich has heart. A single mother trying to prove herself and for the first time in her life make it work for herself in a small law office, Erin stumbles across a file which doesn't make sense to her. Whether it was curiosity or fate, she receives permission to investigate the file. When meeting with her clients, she ignores the lawyer relationship and proves that she cares for the people, not the case. Julia rules!
Rating: Summary: Not just a performance....A real life Tragedy! Review: I was deeply moved by this film, not only because of the wonderful performances by Julia Roberts, Albert Finney, and the numerous other cast, but because of its unbelievable accuracy. My family and I have personally been victims of this tragedy and are happy to see the truth revealed. I was thrilled to learn Julia Roberts would be portraying Erin and feel she was compassionate and outstanding in her role. Her language and manner of dress were quite "colorful" but..that's the real Erin. I hope that when people view this film, they will learn that this monstrous company has devestated many, many families. True, the film may have predictable moments, but they are moments of truth. And there are undpredictable futures for these victims. It's not over yet....pay attention to the ending and please.. keep all of the men, women, and children who are ill today because of the willful wrongdoing of this company, in your prayers.
Rating: Summary: nice people can win through hard work and honesty Review: The story is good. The acting by Julia Roberts is superb. Her best ever. If you are a Julia Roberts fan, this is a must have. If you are a dvd collector (as I am) this is a good movie to have in your collection. If you just like to pop a good movie in every once in a while, there are more engaging plots elsewhere.
Rating: Summary: witty lines, but lacking depth Review: If you've been fascinated with movies like The Firm involving legal dramas, Erin Brockovich will be amusing at best. It's worth it for Julia Roberts and some witty punchlines, but it left me wanting to know more about the other characters and their futures. It was a pity that all the characters seemed to be rather thin and not too bright, but the plot could have been probable even if they had been made a little smarter.
Rating: Summary: Good, But Not Good... Review: Julia Roberts does an amazing job playing Erin Brockovich, but the plot was much too predictable and the other characters were a bit vague. Julia's performance was a standout and I believe that this movie gave a lot of hope to many women today. Julia's portrayal of a condescended lawyer's assistant shows women that if you put your mind to it, you can rise above those who say you cannot do anything because you are a woman. The best part of the movie is knowing that it is a true story. Wonderful performance by Julia Roberts but not very good writing.
Rating: Summary: I was profoundly surprised! Review: Wow, what a surprise! I have seen everything now . . . a Julia Roberts movie I really like! Okay, I guess I should quit making fun of Julia's huge mouth, because she spent the whole movie showing off, ummm, other thingies anyway. This is not another Pretty Woman role, but you'd never guess it by the way Erin dresses throughout the movie. Seriously though, Erin Brockovich is a nice piece of work based on the true story of a woman at the end of her rope scratching and clawing her way to success and respect while at the same time helping the residents of a small town who have been wronged by a large corporation. Julia's portrayal of the foul mouthed legal assistant was tailor made for her, and Albert Finney's acting in the role of Ed was excellent. This is a great, uplifting success story which is very refreshing compared to the rest of the films Hollywood offers us.
Rating: Summary: Save you money Review: Sorry to go against popular opinion here, but this movie was a big disappointment. Sure Juila Roberts does a nice job in the lead role, but the plot is terminally predictable. There are too many scenes to count in which: a) seemingly terrible setback occurs... b) Erin pleads with her boss to take her side... c) he disagrees... d) he finally gives in... e) Erin was right! This movie was also too long, with again, too many scenes to count of teary-eyed victims telling their story just to get the audience rooting for Erin. I have walked out of very few movies in my life, this was one of them.
Rating: Summary: Julia Roberts' breakthrough performance Review: I don't know how Julia Roberts ever became known as one of the best actresses of our time. Just about all the movies she does are chick flicks which I happen to dislike a lot. "Runaway Bride" is just about the worst movie I have ever seen. So, when I was dragged to see "Erin Brockovich," I wasn't pleased. The second I saw Julia Roberts on the screen, I knew something was different about her. Sure, she displays her breasts, but that's not what i'm talking about. Her trashtalking but extremely caring character enchanted me and the rest of the audience. I don't think anybody but Roberts could have done a better job with this character. This movie definitely contains her breakthrough performance. If one compares "Bride" with "Brockovich," this is immediately proven. Today, I do agree Julia Roberts is definitely one of the greatest actresses of our time, because she achieves what needs to be achieved with every one of her roles. I thank "Erin Brockovich" for finally making me uderstand. See this movie, and so will you.
Rating: Summary: Julia Roberts is Erin Brockovich! Review: This is an OscarĀ© worthy performance by Julia Roberts. She portrays Erin Brockovich...a lady who has no money to spare. This film was done so well and I give so much credit to Julia Roberts because she not only portrays Erin, but she acts like she is the real life Erin Brockovich. Sometimes actors play real serious in films, and Julia is one of those people. Sit down relax...and enjoy this story because you will love every minute of it! 5 stars all the way!
