Summary: Film vs. Musical
Review: Having seen the musical Les Miserables twice, I thought I would be disappointed seeing the film. The movie actually helped me understand the musical much better and I had a deeper appreciation for Victor Hugo's writing. Surprisingly, I enjoyed the movie as much as the musical.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: acting was good, story compared to book was HORRIBLE!!!!!
Review: The acting was the best I've seen, and the casting was good but what a disgrace!!! Whoever wrote this play needs a CAT scan b/c there has to be something mentally wrong with them! Victor Hugo wrote an incredibe book that was overwriten by some one who THOUGHT they could do a better job. It was a disgrace and Victor Hugo would be really upset if he saw it. I couldn't even watch the end of the movie it was so far from the wonderful book. Who does the writer think they are to change a classic tale?? I'd like to give them a peice of my mind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Summary: I think they did okay
Review: I am almost an expert on Les Miserables. I have read the abridged book twice and the unabridged once. I saw this movie twice and I have also seen the Musical concert on VHS and memorized every word to the soundtrack in English. I can also recite songs in German and French. Well, I think it was a very good adaptation, better than some of the past. Uma Thurman was wonderful as Fantine. The second part with the revolution was very weak. They ended it early and abruptly. It was also the small things that bugged me, little details, place names and such. Overall, if you really want to experience Les Miz in all it's glory, read the book. But this movie should probably be owned by all the Les Miz freaks of the world.

Summary: One of the Best Films Ever Made
Review: This movie was one of the most powerful ones I have ever seen. Even though Jesus Christ [unfortunately] wasn't specifically mentioned in Valjean's conversion, his life displayed one of complete humility and love. On top of that, the film is dramatic and intense. This one will keep you on the edge of your seat. The soundtrack is superb as well.

Summary: Pretty Darn Good
Review: I though the movie was great. It had some some very emotional moments which is always a plus for me. Liam Neeson and Uma Thurman gave exquisite performances. Geoffrey Rush was the PERFECT sinister villain. His performance as Javert was excellent. His performance caused so much hate and resentment for that character, and that is the sign of great acting. Claire Danes did very well, too. I could not quite understand why she had an English accent, being a French girl. Over all, the film was an excellent adaptation of a rather LARGE book. However, I am disappointed that they left out some characters (Eponine), but other than that I loved the movie and I can't wait for it on VHS.

Summary: Wonderful
Review: I thought this movie was very good. I have never read the book or seen the musical, but I knew the story line and have seen other performances. This was definitely the best. I don't think it's fair to compare it to the musical, as it is a MOVIE. Different genres people! Other than that, I can only say it was great and you should see it if you haven't already.

Summary: It's good, but it could have been better.
Review: If you've seen the play or read the book first, you'll be disappointed. It's a good movie, but not as good as it could have been.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Excellent adaptation of a classic novel.
Review: This movie was excellent. I am surprised that it did not get more recognition. It is very hard to create a movie from such a classic piece, but it was done very well.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A powerful drama
Review: Les Miserables is an intense, powerfully dramatic film. It follows the story of a man, Jean van Jean, and his struggles in life. Based on the French classic by Victor Hugo, this movie will hold you breathless till the end. I simply loved this movie and consider it to be one of the greatest films ever made.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Loved it!
Review: I haven't seen any versions of Les Miserables but I love the musical cds and the book... I thought that this movie was really good, especially with Liam Neeson. I'm really disappointed that I can't buy it yet... sigh. =)
