Summary: Fantastic and hauntingly beautiful movie
Review: Primo filmaking and wonderful performances. Goes into my personal top ten EVER movies.

Summary: Psychological Masterpiece
Review: I walked into the theatre of "A Beautiful Mind" knowing only that it was about a math genius, John Nash, whose level of genius flirts with madness. How closely intwined are the two?

I don't have much experience with psychological thrillers, but this movie threw me for a loop at every twist and bend. By the end I didn't know who was what, or if anything was real. The two hours felt more like ten years as I tried to grasp the mental capacities and problems of a man, watching fifty years of his life flit before my lives. Russell Crowe's acting is (once again) brilliant, perfectly depicting the tortured Nash, and rightfully earning him a few nominations for various film awards.

What a ride this movie is. I highly recommend it to most anyone...but if you're really bordering on mental insanity yourself, you might want to steer clear. It could push you over the edge. ^_~

Summary: Exceptional In Every Way!
Review: "A Beautiful Mind" is definitely one of the best movies I have ever seen. I saw it first with my husband and was so mesmerized that I went to see it again with my 12 year old daughter. We all thought it was superb! I was then curious by the story of John Nash so I bought the book. Still not satisfied, I rented other Russell Crowe films to see just how this man evolved as an actor. He has made many terrific films with very diverse roles, but this is by far the best in my opinion - he "aced" this character. I definitely give the power of the movie to the acting of Crowe. I honestly forgot I was watching an actor on screen - he was that believable. Ron Howard did a great job portraying the film through the mind of Nash. I had such emotion built up inside of me for the struggles of John Nash that I felt emotionally "spent" after the movie. Jennifer Conley was terrific and had great chemistry with Crowe as husband and wife - a very believable couple. The supporting cast did everything right. My advise - SEE THIS MOVIE - more than once! Buy the book for some insights on Nash - it's fascinating. The movie does leave some facts about Nash out of the plot, but I understand why - it would complicate the complex story of schizophrenia even more. Bravo to A Beautiful Mind and a beautiful portrayal of John Nash by Russell Crowe! Good job mate! I'll be cheering for you on Oscar night.

Summary: A Beautifull Mind
Review: Hands down one of the year's most solid films. Stunning performances by both Russell Crowe and Jennifer Connely in a
beautifully directed film. This film not only moves but inspires. Not a dry eye in the house.

Summary: Don't spoil a great movie by reading too much about the plot
Review: I must live in a cave, because I managed to see this movie without knowing too much about it in advance - a strategy I highly recommend to anyone not already familiar with the plot.

There are a few things I can tell you that won't give anything away. This is the first time I've ever understood the attraction of Russell Crowe. It's not his looks, it's that he's smart sexy - amply on display through the movie. His performance is consistently spectacular, from the big moments to the small ones. Jennifer Connelly gives a wonderfully balanced performance as his loyal wife. Not too sappy, not too rigid. Director Ron Howard has done a great job of taking the outline of Nash's story and turning into a compelling movie.

Stop reading right now and go see the movie.

Summary: Russell Crowe is Fantastic in "A Beautiful Mind"
Review: It was a huge mistake for the makers of "A Beautiful Mind" to ignore John Nash's homosexuality and mistreatment of his illegitimate son. The John Nash brilliantly portrayed by Russell Crowe is nowhere near as complex and interesting as the actual man. The excuse that they must leave certain aspects out due to time limitations does not suffice. Did the marketing executives have too power over the final cut? If so, what were they thinking? A film such as this one is likely to attract only those sophisticated enough to easily handle the more controversial aspects of Nash's life.

Still, "A Beautiful Mind" is worth seeing. Russell Crowe, as a genius suffering from the mental disease of schizophrenia, has earned another Academy Award nomination, and reminds us once again that he may be the greatest male film actor of our time. I am simply in awe regarding his stupendous ability to truly get under the skin of his character. Many other actors essentially play the same role over and over. In Crowe's case, though, each movie is a special treat and a journey into the unknown. Jennifer Connelly as Nash's wife is beautiful to look, but I sense that the real Alicia Nash is quite a bit different in person. Paul Bettany and Ed Harris are challenged to play the parts of men who are imaginary. They succeed admirably, and provide another reason to view this film. Congratulations are also in order for the efforts of both Judd Hirsh and Christopher Plummer. The cast selections were near perfect, and visually "A Beautiful Mind" captures the era between the 1950s and the year when Nash won the Nobel Prize.

This movie doesn't deserve five stars, but I have no hesitation in giving it four. Russell Crowe once again saves the day. One should always go out of their way to observe a master in action. You won't be disappointed.

Summary: Brilliance Triumphs over Illness
Review: Ron Howard's interpretation of the life of John Forbes Nash, the Nobel Prize winning economist and mathematician, based on the biogragphy of the same name, is fantastically enthralling as it acts as a kaleidoscope into a mind so abstractly imaginative it lost its grip on reality.
Without spoiling Howard's approach to achieving the audience's appreciation of paranoid schizophreneia, I will say that he manages this with great success, so much so that the audience midway through the film questions his own understanding of what is real and unreal.
All the performances are commendable--Crowe's gentlemanly West Virginian speech patterns and exquisite hand gestures remind us of how different such great minds are--whether or not they actually are the hallmarks of Dr. Nash are irrelevant; they add dimension to the personality Crowe perceives in his own mind. I don't think I've seen Jennifer Connelly perform this well since I first saw her in "Once Upon a Time in America--her integrity in this shines through with a rare radiance. Ed Harris is particularly threatening as the G-man who elicits Dr. Nash's expertise in looking for and cracking codes in 50s mainstream publications. Fantastic casting!
The musical score is wonderfully appropriate--intricate, haunting, triumphant with an odd little edge--hopefully a sure thing for an Oscar like many of the other components of this film.
Do go and see this film, not because it accurately portrays the life of Dr. Nash--it is a film after all--an entertainment that is also a work of art with its own theme and purpose in its own right--if biographial accuracy is what you want read the book--see it because Dr. Nash's accomplishment is simply astonishing and should be shared and applauded.

Review: This is the most incredible film I have ever watched. Russel Crowe proves himself to be a brilliant actor. Two and a half hours of sheer brilliance left me stunned at the end of the film. DO NOT miss this film.
