Summary: Step ignominously aside, "Saving Private Ryan"!!!!
Review: The "good" opening scene of Saving Private Ryan clearly plagiarized "Beaches" on the levels of content, technique, tone, and I think a lot of the middle section was simply lifted from the superior Middler contribution and mercilessly edited into that crummy war film. Didn't you find it rather odd that in the midst of battle with encroaching German forces beautiful Bette Middler began preening about in that stellar Middlerian fashion? I did.

Summary: excellent friendship movie
Review: Beaches is number one on my all time chick flick list of movies. I am a connossoire (sp?) of romance movies (aka, chick flicks). After you have seen this movie 50 times, like I have, you cry when the young CC Bloom at first tells Hilary, "Sure, we're friends, aren't we?". How many kleenex have I used for the end of the movie. As a nurse, I do realize that Hilary should have been carrying a beeper with her at all times (since she was on a transplant list). However, it is a minor technicality. I have a few wonderfully dear friends in my life (all female). Every time I watch this movie I realize how blessed I am and how much more I cherish each and every one of them. Beaches teaches you that life is short--tell someone you love them by spoiling them or just being the best friend possible.

Summary: A thrilling endeavor of two lives who become apart and close
Review: I love Bette Midler and I love this movie. It is beautifully written and produced. The story of a wealthy woman and a poor woman who meet on a beach in atlantic city as young children. Each acts as a shoulder for one another through the good times and the bad. They fight and laugh and love the whole time. Until one day, the wealthy woman learns about cancer which she has and tells her friend. Watch as the two are there till the end as friends.

Summary: My favorite! Absolutely!!
Review: The first time I saw this movie I was about 9 years old, and I loved it!! It reminds me so much of my best friend and myself--we always stick together, now matter was life dishes out to us! I loved this movie so much that I read the book, I can play its main theme on the piano, and I even own a Bette Midler album!! Every guy I know that's seen it calls it a "chick flick," but so what! Ladies, make your man watch it anyway! It is truly the best movie I have ever seen; it really is a tear jerker and a heart warming movie about what true friendship really is!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Keep The Kleenex Handy
Review: What can I say? Fashioned after the all-time "tear jerkers", this movie should spark some self-investigation into how we treat our friends as well as each other. But I have to warn you, it is a tear jerker. One of Bette's best.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: I don't know anyone who doesn't like this movie!
Review: I have loved this movie since it first came out. Along with Steel Magnolias, it is a touching and true-to-life story of love, friendship, and loss. It is just a beautiful story, and Bette (Midler) and Barbara (Hershey) do a wonderful job of bringing this movie to life. I would definitely recommend it to anyone and everyone!
