Summary: Wow Talk about one heck of a movie
Review: Brilliant! I absolutely loved this movie. I found that I can relate to all or most of the characters in the movie. Each one reminds me of either a family member or someone that I know. I loved it from beginning to end. I had always by passed it at Blockbuster, but then a friend recommended it and I said what the heck, I have nothing better to do, so I rented it, and loved it. It was amazing. Now I can't stop recommending it to everyone I know. Watch this movie. I am sure you will find elements of yourselves and those you love in this movie. Enjoy! Happy Watching!!

Review: This is and always will be my favourite movie. It is so touching. It has all the movie genres mixed into one. It is a movie that I can definetly say my mother and I will enjoy watching together even though we have completely different tastes in films. I love the writing and especially the story line.

Summary: The trailer vs. the actual movie
Review: I saw the trailer to this film several times before i actually saw the movie. I was expecting a kind of a comedy but was in for a surprise. I enjoyed the movie alot but i did not really like the movie until weeks later when it finally sank in.I love Kevin Kline, very handsome, very gifted and a very versitile actor. Even though this movie has a wonderful story to tell about filling your life with love, doing the things you always wanted to do and dying of an incurable illness and seeing Kevin fill this role perfectly it still let me down. I'm sure this is all because i really thought that this was a comedy,,,,well it isn't. It's as serious as you can get but with humor of love and a belief that what you do really does matter in the story of life itself.Knowing this now i do recommend this film highly for the goodness this movie presents. It's honest and fresh, you'll laugh and you'll cry and it might make you take a better look at your own life. This movie had a profound effect on me,,,,for the better!

Make this movie great. Kline and Christensen are perfect and Jena Malone is a wonderful girlfriend. Not for all ages but a great movie with a very positive message at the end! A must see!

Summary: Soap opera atrocity
Review: Listen to the music: mildly interesting & disonant at the start, basic happy-birthday-to-you consonance at the end - the plot is an extended cliche, with a shocking waste of good acting talent, especially that of Kevin Kline, who ought to know better than to pick up spare change in slumming expeditions like this. At the start, I wanted to push the kid off a cliff, at the end I wanted to drop the entire cast out of a stratospheric research baloon. Don't bother with this one unless you've taken a lot of bad drugs.

Review: Just watched Life as a House. Definitely a tearjerker. I felt the acting was excellent. Hayden Christensen gave an excellent
performance as did the other actors. Gives you something to think about particularly the trials and tribulations of this modern world. Shows that sometimes we do not get to really know our parents until it is too late. Highly recommend this movie.

Summary: excellent film; one of the few honest films hollywood offers
Review: i really really liked life as a house. roger ebert critiqued it as having "too much heart and not enough brain." while he is right to a certain extent, and the ambitions of the movie are much greater than the technique used to accomplish them,life as a house has such a powerful honesty and compassion for its characters that the film ultimately ends up overcoming its weaknesses, which mostly occur in the script. some of the scenes are a little overwrought, but director irvin winkler does a great job with holding back and letting true characterizations come true, especially with kline's character, ... additionally the cinematography is sun-soaked and refreshing, the music is excellent featuring the likes of Guster and Radiohead, and the movie really tries to examine a troubled teen (Hayden Christensen). I highly recommend this movie to teens because it actually empathizes and gets to the root of the problems and frustrations of teenagers. As a teen, I feel this film treats teenagers as real people instead of secondary characters in a bigger adult drama, or pawns in a ridiculous sex comedy or horror flick. Contrary to what most critics described this movie, it wasn't shamelessly sentimental or schmaltzy. It was about a man coming to grips with how his life has been a big waste and how he needs to accomplish something ...Like I said the performances are excellent: Scott Thomas is particularly warm and sympathetic. And Kline is, as always, amazing. ... All in all, Life is a House is a film that Hollywood should follow as an example of how its possible to be sincere and genuine and still be gritty and intriguing at the same time. highly recommended.
