Summary: FEEL GOOD MOVIE!
Review: I thought this movie was awsome! The story was a traditional conflicting love story but the fun part was the music and her dancing. I also felt the way she did when moving to the city, though my area is DEFINATLY not as rough as Sara [Julia Stiles]'s was. I thought the acting was done well (Julia was originally a trained Shakesperean Actress) and the Cheoreography was *excellent* Here is a little fact you might not know: Did you know she isn't actually doing the ballet in the film? If you notice, the camera never shows her FULL body when she is standing up to tippy toe, just shots of her feet and then her upper body, which was very well done 'cause I didn't even notice (and maybe you won't either!). Needless to say her Acting was very well done and newcomer Sean Patrick Thomas wasn't too shabby as well. The club scene just makes one wanna get up and dance. So, if you're a teenager who's into popular r&b/hip-hop or a fan of julia stiles, this one's for you. Adults sometimes take movies a little too seriously, such as this one for instance. Also check out the Saturday Night live episode with host Julia Stiles-it's halarious! Reccomended.

Summary: Well Saved
Review: I would imagine that it isn't difficult, in today's Hollywood, to write and produce a teen movie ... but, based on the current crop of teen-marketed releases, I think it's increasingly difficult to do a teen movie WELL. That said, SAVE THE LAST DANCE rises (or dances) to the occasion with crackling performances by Julia Stiles and Sean Patrick Thomas.

Julia Stiles plays Sara, a small-town girl with the dream of someday becoming a world-renowned ballerina. But the unexpected death of her mother sends her to the big city that is Chicago's south-side, a predominately black neighborhood. Here, she meets Derek (Sean Patrick Thomas) and not only does the chemistry start but also he introduces her to a whole different kind of music and dancing. By contemporizing her dance routines, Sara manages to find herself growing as an individual, setting herself apart from the other ballerina-wannabes, and thus our lead becomes a princess in the end.

The film's greatest fault is the obligatory dance sequence back in the Chicago 'burbs, showing us that all is well in the world of black and white. The director should've cut the film at the end of the dance audition, where the real personal triumph has been achieved, and the film would've been a finer cut.

Summary: MAKES YOU GET UP AND DANCE!

Summary: definitely NOT another teen movie
Review: This film shows a depth that is not normally seen in films directed towards a teenage audience. You connect with the characters in such a way that you genuinely want to get up and dance with them! You even connect along with Sarah into the african american subculture that she enters, not an easy feat for a teen movie. Also dealt with is teen violence, teen pregnancy and motherhood, racism, death, the breakdown of the nuclear family and following your dreams and staying committed. Related to the theme of commitment portrayed in the film, is the commitment made by both Sean Patrick Thomas and Julia Stiles to educate themselves about this subculture and dance. Countless hours, weeks and months were put in by both Sean and Julia in dance studios, with choreographers and in nightclubs. Contrary to Mr. Shannon's previous statement, Julia Stiles had no professional dance body double. She did all her own dancing. She learned both very technical ballet, and pretty much its exact opposite in hip hop. This show a level of commitment and depth in our young actors which is both admirable and refreshing. A standing ovation to all involved in this fantastic piece!

Summary: not enough words to give it what it deserves
Review: I personally can't understand how anyone could dislike this movie. Ok, I guess that's just my opinion, but this movie is among the best I've ever seen. It's so deep, I feel all choked up every time I see the ending. It's an amazing, amazing film that tackles so many complex issues. The acting is passionate, and the story is heartrending. You'll really be able to sense what Derek and Sara (Thomas and Stiles) are going through in their relationship, and you'll feel for them as they suffer differences in opinion from others. It's the ending, though, that really got to me. Outstanding moviemaking here. Never before have I felt so touched by a movie. I truly mean that. You will NOT be sorry if you buy this one--it's INCREDIBLE.

Summary: Summary of "Save The Last Dance"
Review: Save the Last Dance is a great movie for everyone. Julia Stiles and Sean Patrick Thomas did a great job in this movie. Derrick(Thomas) meets this 17 year old girl named Julie(Stiles) who comes to his school in Chichago and he meets Julie. She used to be a dancer and she had stopped dancing when her mother died trying to see her try out for a part in an act.So, Julie had to move with her father in Chichago. Then she went to a new school and she meets this boy name Derrick and when they met they didn't get off to a good start. They would argue and fuss, so they had a dance competition at a club and when Derrick asked Julie and she hesitaed because she really didn't know how to dance. When she got on the dance floor, she could not dance at all and she had no rhythm. So Derrick told her to meet him at a old school so he could teach her how to dance and when he had taught to dance, they went to the same club and they danced the night away because Derrick had taught Julie how to dance and he had also encouraged her to go back to dancing and she did.
