Summary: Cinema, not a movie
Review: This movie is a true example of cinema where the lines are not drawn clearly but only eluded to. Cinema is the key word here. Too many people just go to the movies to allow their brain to decay over a box of buttered popcorn and the mere idea of having to think makes them run like deer from a gunshot. This movie probably should not have been shown to mainstream America...

The black and white filming of a color world shows true mathematics. Mathematics is true or false, rarely gray. One of the primary gray areas of mathematics is chaos theory and it's connection to the underlying reality of the universe at large.

But this movie is not about math... but thought and fanaticism driven by a lust for understanding of the universe at large. There are those who believe math can explain everything in the universe. There are those who don't care about math but care about the universe in general. This movie is for both groups. This movie is not for the non-thinker.

Summary: Waste of time
Review: If you ever use just half of your brain, then you've already read the books and seen the movies Pi "rips-off." Overrated. Don't buy it and only rent it for a weak laugh.

Summary: One of the Best Movies I Have Ever Seen.
Review: Looking for a movie with a plot, great acting, and something to think about? They don't make movies like that anymore you say?! Good movies are still being made, and this is one of the finest. More than just a series of explosions and lame acting, Pi typifies the genre of movies made for a more sophisticated audience. With terrific cinematography, directing, and photography, this movie is truly a work of art and deserves all the credit it can be given.

Summary: A powerful study in obsession
Review: This movie shows that, while those who follow trends make money, those who follow their own path make history. This movie is a powerful and unique statement in the Science Fiction genre. My view of Sci Fi, film and art in general have been forever changed by seeing this movie.

Summary: A lot of build-up, not much payoff.
Review: Not a bad little film, but the best part about the disc is the groovy cover. The visuals have a tendency to give me a headache, especially on a larger screen, and the story, though interesting, just had too many "menacing" characters that seemed about as threatening as a night at the Bingo parlor--realistically you know the possibility of danger exists, but you're primarily concerned with other issues. In all honesty, this seems a lot like a film for people who WANT to like independant, "revolutionary" film. If you want better cinematography, watch anything from Robert Rodriguez, if you want better dialogue, watch anything from Quentin, if you want better storytelling, read a book.

Summary: Catching up with infinity...
Review: Our existance is nothing but an infinate loop, obvious, but overseen by many. Complexity is between us and the truth, plauging humanity. Somewhere in between the lines, Max Cohen discovers the only immutable entity in our world. A God? A purpose for life? You be the judge. Pi is an awesome movie.

Summary: Fantastic
Review: The only movie i could compare this to is 12 monkeys. But 12 monkeys will seem like a watered-down version of insanity after you view probably one of the more disturbing movies i've seen but also one of the most brilliant movies i've seen.

Summary: Come ON! What is this ABOUT?
Review: I am always trying to support independant filmakers, but... This film is confusing. Unnecessarliy confusing. It is not nearly as clever as I feel it is intended to be. This film is perfect for phony intellectuals who like to stand out by claiming to love films that are too obscure and confusing for "average" filmgoers to comprehend. I must admit, however, that Aronofsky DID do an excellent job with direction. Yet,I feel that he just tried too hard with this film. The viewer leaves "Pi" with a sense that something is truly missing. The film also tends to bring out emotions of anxiety and rage in the viewer. When I was through watching this film, I felt like jumping out of a window, or attacking somebody.

Summary: A great break from Hollywood¿s latest
Review: Is there order within chaos? This film shows that it's possible to be mathematically accurate and completely engaging simultaneously. Math fans will love it. Psychology fans will love it. Film fans will love it. Note to aspiring directors: Darren Aronofsky knows how to make a movie. If you weren't lucky enough to see it in a theater, now's your chance.
