Review: I can not recommend this movie highly enough....This one is a real eye opener! An outstanding performance by Edward Norton! With other great performances by Fairuza Balk, Stacy Keach, and Edward Furlong. If you are fortunate enough to own a DVD player, the deleted scenes are a bonus. Too bad there was no directors commentary. I will give away no plot points here and just say that once in awhile a powerful film like this will come along without getting the recognition it deserves. It seems much of the public does not want to see the truth in film but rather watch it unfold on CNN. As we watched the horror unfold in Littleton, Colorado we asked ourselves why? Howcome? It is all around us; hatred seeps from our pores. Anymore it seems we do not get along with one another regardless of race and now everyone is looking for who to point the finger at. The answer is that we have to start looking at ourselves as a whole, who we are and what we are becoming. In the film Dereks brother Danny summed it up best in a report he wrote for school, "Hate is baggage. Life is too short to be pissed off all the time. It's just not worth it." If you see one film this year....Go see American History X!

Summary: Excellent performances; disturbing story.
Review: This excellent film shows a side of life that far too few of us are aware of but that exists in our nation, even in small towns with no inner cities. I once lived in a town with NO African-American population, yet it was a hot bed of bigotry and even a few KKK, though most everyone in town had never even had contact with a black person! This source of bigotry and haterd is brought out in the film--when Derek (Edward Norton) has to work and get to know a black man in prison, his hatred begins to break down. Bigotry and prejudice feed on ignorance. Unfortunately, the story also tells how once begun, hate can take on a life of its own and even the best of intentions to amend ones life cannot put an end to the hatred created. The performance by Edward Norton deserved his Oscar nomination and probably the award itself. He shows himself to be a multi-faceted young actor and certainly one of the great actors of the future. Edward Furlong's performance was also suberb. A great film, disturbing in its reality (that many of us deny is there because we don't see it in our own lives.)

Summary: Don't think, just feel...
Review: Don't think too hard about this film, because if you do, you'll soon realize that the story is pretty much implausible. Instead, suspend your disbelief, and allow yourself to believe Ed Norton's finely crafted performance and be absolutely blown away.

Review: in the history of cinema, edward nortons portrayl of derrek vinyard is truly one of the most frightening charater creations of all time. he simply exudes menace and strife. one of the best films of the last 20 years and eaily tied with a simple plan (in my opinion anyway), for best film of last year

Review: American History X is one of the years ten bests films and Edward Norton has given a performance of a life time which shouldve won the best actor award at the oscars. I should also note the very good performance from Edward Furlong. But this film is a must see.

Summary: AHX, Every night for a week
Review: This movie has me mezmerized. Edaward Norton has grasped the reality of the neo-natzi skinhead movement and made it seem like he was really one himself. Anyone could have played the role but i dont think they could have made it seem as real as Ed did. His powerfull performance moved me in a gut wrenching way that gave me chills down my spine. I honestly feel this film wouldnt have been as big of a hit for me if it wasnt for Norton. Three words: POWERFULL, INTENSE, MASSIVE. Hes right up there with my top 3 fav. actors, because of this movie.

Review: Norton and Furlong were excellent. I am not racists or anything so when i first started watching it I didn't think i was going to like it. Boy was I wrong! When i saw how real life this movie was, i was hooked. I watched it numerous times and still can't get enough! Both Furlong and Norton deserve an award for portraying such difficult characters!

Review: The best movie ever..the best, most realistic acting I have ever seen..I'm glad he got nominated, he should have won. A movie with a point. Amazing!!
