Review: I don't know how else to say it. This film left me numb and speechless. It's a real thinker. I dare say that the graphic violence in this film was necessary to convey the REALITY of racism, violence and hate in this world. Edward Norton was unbelievably good in this. Edward Furlong never ceases to amaze me. Trust me; you need to see this film. Show it to your children when they're old enough to understand and process this stuff. It happens every day.

Review: At first, I wasn't sure whether I'd like this film. But it gives a fantastic idea of racism, and Ed Norton and Ed Furlong are both incredible in it. A must buy for anyone.

Review: I have to say this movie was the best movie I have ever seen. I never liked to watch premice movies, but this one was great. Both Edward Norton and Edward Furlong's characters in the movie were very strong characters. They made a good choice. I recommend this movie to everyone out there.

Summary: Fight the real enemy: hate
Review: Wow...I wasn't too keen on watching this film based on its premise, but it is truly one of the best films I've ever seen. Not many films would dare to peer into the cancer that is white supremacy, reveal its twisted yet nearly convincing logic, yet show that there can be a redemption of sorts. The most thought-provoking scenes occur during Derek's (Edward Norton) transformation in prison. Here, he finds that everything is not as he thought it was, and that some injustices are very real. He eventually befriends a black inmate who unconditionally treats him as an equal (despite clearly knowing Derek's racist views), and soon learns that his friend is serving 6 years for a mere theft that has been trumped up to "assault of a police officer", while his own sentence for murdering two black men is lesser. And yet this does not come off as some preachy statement on the injustices faced by blacks who commit crimes versus whites. The film levels the playing field quite admirably. Avery Brooks does a fine job as Sweeney, a black teacher who recognizes the blind hatred in Derek and consequently in his younger brother Daniel (Edward Furlong), who is swiftly following in his brothers footsteps. Sweeney, reflecting on his own youth, sheds light on reverse-racism in growing up black. Both Edwards (Norton and Furlong) deliver intensely real performances. This film, like no other I have seen in recent years, so well conveys the concept that the only real enemy is not to be found in another person, but in the blind, untempered hatred within us fueled by our fears, insecurities and misunderstanding.

Summary: CAPTIVATINGLY BRILLIANT
Review: This is a stunningly powerful film which draws outstanding performances from Edward (fight Club) Norton, and Edward (kid from Terminator 2) Furlong. I'm not going to rate this film in terms of how realistic and relevant it is to American society, I'm English and don't have a clue. But I will say that this film does an excellent job in highlighting the hypocrosy and stupidity of racism without forcing it down your throat. Instead you tenderly chew and slowly swallow the story bit by bit but be warned you may choke on the ending. No one was more suprised at the brilliance of this movie than myself. I am normally only interested in non-serious plots, but this film gripped me from beginning to end. No matter what your tastes, this is a movie you should watch I guarantee you'll be transfixed.

Review: THERE HAVE ALREADY BEEN A GREAT DEAL OF LONG, DETAILED REVIEWS WRITTEN FOR THIS FILM SO I AM GOING TO WRITE ONE THAT GETS STRAIGHT TO THE POINT- THIS FILM IS CHALLENGING, INSIGHTFUL AND EMOTIONALLY REWARDING AND NORTON'S PERFORMANCE IS AWESOME. FURLONG IS ALSO EXCELLENT. THE FILM WAS CRITICISED FOR STEREOTYPING BUT I THINK THAT "DANNY'S" BEAUTIFUL RESOLUTION MAKES HIM A VERY NON-TYPICAL KID AND "SWEENEY" IS NOT AN OVER-EXAGGERATED, UNREALISTIC CARICATURE AS I KNOW SOMEONE VERY MUCH LIKE HIM. THIS IS JUST A POWERFUL, SUPERBLY ACTED FILM AND WHILST IT MAY HAVE SOME FLAWS IN ITS PRESENTATION, THE MESSAGE IS AN IMPORTANT AND PAINFULLY RELEVANT ONE. DON'T MISS.

Review: For months people had been bugging me to see this movie. It was truly worth it. I know some people don't like to admit to it but there are a good portion of younger kids today who feel this way, and I think this movie does a fairly good job of tackling this issue. This movie should be shown in every high school in America. One thought that crossed my mind during it was something I said earlier, there are people who feel this way, and it's scary. This movie won't change the world but it's a good eye-opener to some people out there.

Review: This is one of those impact movies that everyone must see. It shows the dark side of the human race. I would recommend this, Schindler's List and Boyz in the Hood to anyone. Three impact movies that make you think.

Summary: Brilliant Movie but condradicts things
Review: To start i wish to quote something from some newspapers and review magazines. "magnificent" screen international. "Explosive, Nortan gives a blistering performance" rolling stone. This is about to prove my points. Firstly, it is essential from the start you know who it is who is narrating the piece, as this got me confused to begin with, i caught on at the end of the film, so i had to watch it again in a different perplexion. Derek (Nortan) is out for revenge on the race that murdered his father, so he stops at nothing with this in mind. So much so that he leads a white power movement. Despite his wisdom, a flash of anger overppowers him for say 5 minutes leading to the brutal murder of 3 people, and this lands him in Jail, where his whole vision changes, and when he is released, he becomes ashamed of his past, and he tries to rectify this. Okay theres the 'blurb', but my point lies with the fact that this movie is very graphic, and a bit on the racist side, so i would say watch it by yourself first, so you dont get embarresed when watching it with friends. Review: It's true that there are some problems with this film, and that it is fairly one-track. No, Norton's transformation in prison doesn't entirely ring true (as Maltin says above) and yes, some of the direction is a bit too artsy and heavy-handed. But I still feel that this movie has a hell of a lot going for it. Although the direction may be excessive here and there, it is at least powerful and extremely engaging. The script, also not without its minor flaws, is still chock-full of quality moments. And the performances are intoxicating all around. I disagree with another recent review that complains that the characters are two-dimensional. If there is anything that could validly convey this feeling it is probably the limited topicality of the movie itself. Every actor does all that he can and more with the material he or she has, and the result is admirable. There are an abundance of little details in this movie that excited my aesthetic sensibilities -- just the way a character will deliver a particular line, or the way they cast a glance, etc. ... it was just never quite what I expected, everything felt like it was done with an undercurrent of originality and style. Another thing I really enjoyed about the film was its efficiency at creating situations that were mesmerizing in and of themselves (the party would be a particularly good example.) The situations that constitute this movie all the way through are saturated with profound potential energy; almost every scene has a tangible undercurrent, if not several (the first dinner table scene is wonderfully multi-layered, dramatically speaking), and the atmosphere is frequently akin to a highly unstable bomb. The climax is riveting. I detract 1 star for the imperfections mentioned, but while the movie is not without its flaws, Norton's chilling charisma and the strength of the atmosphere in general do a great deal to tug you through the sillier moments with minimal damage to the viewing experience. This still manages to be an extremely engrossing and powerful film from start to finish.
