Summary: Ignorance is the problem
Review: This movie was great. Everyone should see this movie for it will change his or her life. I don't think I need to analyze the movie for you or keep telling you how good it is. The movie was not about NAZIs so it did not go indepth into their ideals. The movie was not about solving the problems of illegal immigration or solving the problems of our prisons. The movie was more about how racism is rooted in ignorance and hate. It is about how families in America are being torn apart. It is about the ills of racism and hate. It is about how people CAN change when they realize that ignorance is NOT bliss. That is my rant. Ignorance is horrible, and is the cause of many problems in our country and around the world. Hopefully one day everyone will realize that all kinds are equal.

Summary: Unforgettable, masterpiece of a movie.
Review: I could not applaud this film more. What really make this movie are 2 people. First is Tony Kaye, you have done a breathtaking directing job in turning what potentially could've been a replay of all the racist movies over the past years into a film that I will never forget. Whenever something comes up on the news about Nazis, skinheads, African-American fights etc I'll remember this film. Second person and probably the person who deserves it most is Edward Norton. Edward, your performance has changed my life. I have never seen a male give what is such an effortlessly amazing and truly masterpiece of a performance. Were you really acting, Ed, or was Tony Kaye just following you around for a few years? Kudos also to script-writers, Edward Furlong, other supporting characters and good cinematography and design which flips from black-and-white to colour cleverly. This movie is totally violent, has a lot of coarse language and is extremely graphic about all its subjects. This is what they should really be teaching kids in school, all about what really happens in America. I don't live in America myself but I thought it gave a very apt description of skinheads who live there. Totally amazing stuff, American History X earns a place on my top 10 films of all time, making it not only the best movie of 1998 but the third best of the decade, following American Beauty (it is obviously good to have American as the first word for your film title - all the movies that start with the country are fantastic - American Beauty, this film, American Pie, American Psycho, so on and so on) and The Shawshank Redemption. Truly unforgettable cinema.

Summary: Edward Norton's Best Performance
Review: American History X was an amazing film, one I think may be Edward Norton's best. He portrays a neo-nazi skinhead by the name of Derek Vineyard, who is sent to jail after commiting the murders of 2 African-American men. While in jail, his younger brother Danny, played by young star Edward Furlong, starts to follow in his footsteps, and joins the same skinhead group he was in. As he becomes free, Derek does everything in his power to keep his brother from his old lifestyle. This movie also provides moviegoers with a chance to once again see Stacy Keach as Derek's former skinhead leader Cameron. American History X is also the best performance from Edward Furlong I believe since Terminator 2: Judgement Day. It was a very edgy, blunt movie but a masterpiece as well.

Summary: One of the best films ever!
Review: It was really a crime that this movie did not win any Oscars! How Edward Norton didn't win for best actor has to be the biggest [let-down] of all time! It's amazing that truly great acting does not get rewarded at the Oscars (nothing but politics)! There is no way that you could watch this movie and not feel for the main character. When you see how Ed Norton's character grew up and how Cameron influenced him, it just makes you sick that there are individuals like Cameron walking around influencing kids today. The great thing about this film is what happens when Ed Norton goes to Jail and realizes that everything he believed in was all [wrong]! The way he try’s to save his little brother, by telling him what happen to him in jail is very moving. The movie does have its violent times; I even had to turn away with the curb scene. If you are looking for a very moving picture to watch look no further. Everyone that I have told to watch this film has had nothing but good things to say about it! I know if you watch it you will feel that way to.

Summary: Very interesting film
Review: I am not an emotional person, but this movie got to me. I didn't cry or nothing of that sort. But I did feel emotion after watching the film. It makes you think. Anyhow I dont get emotional over any movie due to the simple fact movies are just movies and I cant compare them to reality. On the other hand when it comes to this moive I cant really say that. This film is extremely realistic and it makes you think about the society we live in today and how messed up it is, but on the side to that the film teaches a very valuable lesson. I would say this is a must see film. I have rented it at least 15 times I dont see why I just dont buy the film. I have had all of my friends watch the film. Not really a big big movie fan, but this moive would have to be in my top 5 without a doubt. Buy the film.

Summary: American History X
Review: Racism still exists. I can understand people's reasons for not liking other ethnicities (people) because of the way they go about doing things, this story about a young man who turns into a bigot after his father was killed by Black thugs; this story is too true to be good. I think Edward Norton played this role as a White supremacist is his best.

Summary: Hard to Watch! Hard Not To! This is a MUST see movie.
Review: EVERYONE SHOULD SEE THIS MOVIE!

Edward Nortin gives a stunning and gripping performance which earned him a Best Actor nomination. This is a movie that is so relevant to our time, that it hits the center our feelings and emotions concerning prejudice.

Quite a few times during the movie I found myself agreeing with the foundational emotions of the character's racism. But, I caught myself saying "As a gay man, how can I agree with such ideology?" This movie depicts the foundations of racism and unnerves in us the realization that we all share some of the same or similar thoughts and emotions. It may be directed to race, religion, sexual orientation, or gender; but the thoughts, as horrific as they are, demonstrates to us the true meaning of the movie: what's at the heart of the racism. Not only that but it teaches us why? This important concept will hopefully allow us to understand so that we may live in a better society and learn to live with prejudice!

Edward Norton's stunning performance demonstrates his wonderful acting ability. I first saw Ed Norton in Primal Fear. I read the book and when I heard that they were making it into a movie, I told myself that the character Ed Norton played, had to be a wonderful actor in order to pull it off. He did and more. But, this movie only further demonstrates his acting ability, and in my book he should have won that year.

This movie is hard to watch, hard to digest, and hard to understand - mostly because we identify with at least some of it. This is a true depiction of the world we live in. It shouldn't be this way, however I think that this is a movie that everyone has to see in order for us to live together and understand each other.

Summary: A reality told, a wonderous story stating how life can be.
Review: This movie was a graphic but realistic story about gang life and racism in the current day. As you watch the film, you get so caught up in it, and don't look away for a second. Although the film had some nudity and a bit a graphic violence, children could learn from this. As how not to go about life (of course!). But hey, if you don't trust your children, rent them The Flintstones and get them tucked away in their own rooms. Then bust this movie out, make some popcorn, get some pop/soda/cola, and watch. I gaurantee this movie is worth every renting or purchasing dollar.
