Rating: Summary: THE best King adaptation, a truly remarkable film Review: Frankly, most film adaptations of Stephen King's works stink. Shawshank is one of the few exceptions. This movie is not really about the prison environment per se, it is about the strength and beauty of humanity under the most adverse conditions. The movie IS long, but not a single moment is dull. As the story unfolds via the narrations of Red, you'd really start to care about the hero. By the end of movie, when the big moment comes, you'd feel something! Nowadays, nothing much can make you feel. This is truly a remarkable movie!
Rating: Summary: Truly Incredible in every aspect of the word Review: Any Jughead from Riverdale would know this movie is a masterpiece
Rating: Summary: Five Years Later, it is Still the Best Film Ever Made Review: When reading through some of the viewer reviews, I am shocked to gaze upon such comments as "dry" and "boring". I honestly feel sorry for these people. Anyone who cannot allow themselves to be moved and changed by such a great film must be extremely closed minded. The film may not have had explosions and monsters, and naked women from start to finnish, but that is one of the reasons I believe so many people enjoyed it. It was honest and brilliant fimmaking without all of the hollywood bullsh*t. This is the only movie I have seen that has every element I look for in a good movie. Great acting, supurb story telling, and an ending that will make you feel like you are on top of the world. Do yourself a favor and watch this film.
Rating: Summary: The twistiest twist ever in an awe inspiring movie! Review: A drama set in Shawshank prison reveals one of the greatest twists in cinematography history. You just can't see it coming and it's magical! If you ever consider watching one movie in your life, it must, and only can be this. It's gripping, inspiring and uplifting. If you don't come away feeling good after this movie there's something very wrong. See it now!!!
Rating: Summary: Arguably the greatest movie ever made. Review: I cannot say enough about the Shawshank Redemption. Frank Darabont aimed for perfection in nearly every aspect of the film and came away as close to it as any film I've ever seen. The opera scene is truly breathtaking, one of the most powerful moments in cinema. A film that transcends race, class, and social status...yes, it is a masterpiece.
Rating: Summary: A true masterpiece. Review: I love this film. Steven King has a true gift for drama that makes you wonder why he does horrors at all and narration was perfect.Go to any extent to see this film.
Rating: Summary: NOT A MASTERPIECE Review: Good movie, but vastly overrated, and Tim Robbins isn't the best actor around.
Rating: Summary: An amazing movie in every aspect Review: A lot of people note that the story line and acting in the Shawshank Redemption are both incredible. But its more than that- everything about the movie is inspiring. The music is very powerful, The low String sounds touch the soul. The cinematography is flawless as well. I love the way certain scenes are repeted- to great effect. And one sequence near the end(I wont say which, for those of you who havn't seen the movie) is hands down the most beautifully filmed part of a movie ever. The second time you watch it is even better, because you see so many things that were hidden the first time.
Rating: Summary: Hands down, the best movie I have ever seen. Review: I have seen many movies in my life, and the Shawshank Redemption is incredible. Even though it is a whopping 142 minutes long, I soaked up every moment of it. Tim Robbins is the best actor ever. No matter what your movie preference is, go see this movie. You wont regret it.
Rating: Summary: Great Movie Review: I was hoping the DVD version would have cut scenes restored. I was in Mansfield, Ohio and saw filming of scenes that were not in the the final version. The length of the film was never an issue to me. This movie should have won the Academy Award.
