Summary: A movie that will stay with you!
Review: This is one of those movies that will stay in your head long after you watch it. Great performances by Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman. I personally feel it should have won Best Picture over Forrest Gump. Even the music is wonderful! You can't go wrong with this one! One of my personal favorites!

Summary: A Most Powerful Message of Hope...
Review: This movie has touched me like no other. I left the theater sobbing with so many emotions overflowing. Tim Robbins' character is beautiful and amazing...his ability to maintain hope despite the seemingly insurmountable obstacles is truly miraculous. Freeman's portrayal of his "institutionalized" friend tears your heart apart at times. The Shawshank Redemption has so many messages of injustice and inhumanity and the ability to love oneself enough to keep faith and transcend the most torturous of circumstances. This film is a masterpiece.

Summary: one of the best movies i've ever seen
Review: The Shawshank Redemption is easily one of the 5 best movies I have ever seen, and I consider myself a movie junkie. The relationship between Robbins and Freeman seems absolutely real. The story teaches us that anything can be achieved by keeping hope alive. There are a couple of memorable lines that will stay with you for a lifetime. No offense to Tom Hanks who won Best Oscar the year this movie came out for "Forrest Gump" but Freeman's performance in this movie should have garnered him the Best Oscar. I also recommend the short story "Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption" by Stephen King from his collection "Four Seasons" as required reading. This is the first time a movie and a book have been on equal footing. Must see!

Summary: Hope, is maybe the best of things.
Review: The Shawshank Redemption to me was all about hope. Andy never lost sight of hope even in the midst of the horrible, tragic events he faced. He wasn't outspoken but he would never give up on proving his innocence and finding a way out and redemption for all he'd been through. He restored my faith in believing in yourself and never giving up. Hope.

Summary: I enjoyed it but........
Review: I caught this movie on TV about a week ago, watched about an hour of it, and had to leave in the middle of it. I HAD to see what happened, so I went out and bought it. It was an EXCELLENT movie and would have received 5 stars from me instead of 4, except for the fact that the copy I bought in the store had SO MUCH PROFANITY that it made me feel uncomfortable to watch it with my family. So if anyone watches it, catch it on TV--it is a much cleaner version. The actors in this movie are perfect for their parts. Try to catch it on TV sometime--you will not be disappointed!

Summary: Can't get enough of it
Review: My wife and I have seen this movie 5 times on TV and are captivated each time we see it. We are now buying it for our very selective film library.

Summary: Superlative Shawshank
Review: The Shawshank Redemption is a character study in which the audience can develop a healthy and well-earned respect for a man whose spirit will not be crushed. We get to know these people, and writer and first-time director Frank Darabont is able to make us care for them in a way that makes the relatively slow pace of the film more than bearable. Shawshank transcends its genre much the way Cool Hand Luke did all those years ago, but while Paul Newman's Luke was a smiling, hardened con, with a longing for escape, Robbins, in a superb performance, makes Andy's intellect and imagination his salvation. It's a beautiful film that is able to portray the power of hope through the eyes of a rich and rewarding character. A man brutalized but not beaten by a corrupt system.

Summary: Nice, but over-rated.
Review: VERY long, well made TV movie of the week kind-a-film. There's a whole lot to recommend this film, it's well acted, well shot, and the basic story is fine. Problem is, it cannot escape being just another prison-film. It uses EVERY cliche' in the book.

Summary: This was one of the best videos I have ever seen
Review: Well I would have to admit to everyone that this has to be the best movie I have ever seen. It really makes you feel a lot for these two characters Andy (Robbins) and Red (Morgan Freeman). The reason that I liked this movie was because of the terrific way that this movie keeps you involved with everything. To tell you the truth this movie doesn't have one boring part in it. The only thing wrong with this movie is well to tell you the truth there is nothing wrong with this movie

Review: Thoroughly enjoyable, well-directed, and generally uplifting movie, but you don't have to be an ex-con to realize how painfully far this is from being in any way realistic. It's a fable. But it is a entertaining fable that I can't imagine too many people finding especially disagreeable.
