Summary: Very Satisfying Movie
Review: I won't spoil the movie, but I will say that Shawshank has the best ending of any movie I've ever seen. I agree with the reviewer who said he'd kill to see it for the first time again, but I've seem this flick 20-30 times and I still want to stand up and cheer everytime I see the climax. I also give the movie kudos for its discretion. It certainly earns its R rating (it is a prison movie, after all), but it only includes enough graphic content to get the point across. Finally, I agree that the acting is terrific and the movie takes you on an emotional roller coaster ride from start to finish. All in all, one of my favorites.

Summary: Great Movie, not-so-great DVD
Review: Many great things have been said about this movie, and the movie deserves it. This Stephen King prison tale is excellent (as is his other prison tale The Green Mile). Unfortunately, this DVD is lacking. The only extras on the disk are a trailer and a few photo stills. Originally, the disk was to include a commentary by Morgan Freeman, but he apparently backed out. With all the hype and acclaim around this movie, surely some more extras could have been included. Bottom line - Buy this DVD for the movie, not to learn more about it through extras.

Summary: One of the Top 10 films of All Time, A True Classic!
Review: One word can sum this movie up, "Wow!". But I've never been known to keep things short. I was lucky enough to see this movie in the theaters (thanks to an ingenious method of sneaking in which I will never disclose) and remember that I didn't want it to end. I can't think of another movie that has touched me so deeply. Lessons of friendship and injustice, of dignity and the power of the human will. DO NOT listen to what critic Leonard Maltin says about this movie being "overlong" and "hollow and predictable". He is under no uncertain terms nothing more than an idiot or what the British would call a "wanker". The length of the film is necessary, the story is nothing short of magic. The novella from which this is based gives all the more credence to the idea that Stephen King will one day emerge from under his undue shroud of literary cynicism as one of the 20th century's greatest writers. Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman give possibly the best performances of each of their distinguished careers. If you can handle harsh dramas and depictions of prison life then I suggest checking this movie out, putting aside any pre-conceived notions, and enjoying this timeless classic film. And when you're done go buy the movie so you don't wear out your local videostore's copies!

Review: This is the best movie I have ever seen! my grandma reminds me of Warden Norton she always says you get 2 things from her: Discipline and The Bible. Tim Robbins is a good actor but he did a stellar performance in this!Morgan Freeman did a great job in this too along with his other movie called Glory about the Civil War. great movies! I liked this better than the green mile actually But Tom Hanks is the man of that movie!

Summary: One the best EVER MADE
Review: I can't review this film, I lose all elequence when talking about a film I love this much. I will say that Morgan Freeman's voice over is the best voice over in history. Among my favourite passages in this singular masterpiece is the sequence of Brooks trying to adjust to life on the outside, looking for his bird in the park, its one of the most sublimely moving sequences in film history, and underlies the films central theme , which is voiced in a great scene by Freeman "These Walls are funny, first you hate them, enough times passes, you come to depend on them."Meaning in life, people liiving in terrible conditions for a long enough period of time might actually go back to them voluntarily if they don't do something about it soon enough.(I did mention that I lose all elequence, so no apologies). A lesson that is delivered by Andy in a payoff so beautiful that I would kill to see it again for the first time, yet strangely enough never loses its impact on repeated viewings. Right now , I'm in the process of hunting down people who haven't seen it, so I can show it to them and see it again through their eyes.Unquestionably the greatest film of nineties(much better than its oscar compition Forest Gump and even Pulp Fiction), it, along with Midnight Run,The Thin Red Line and Goodfellas , is my all-time favourite movie. See it now. Then see it again.

Summary: A Perfect Title, A Perfect Film
Review: There are few films as sublime as "Shawshank Redemption". Morgan Freeman's narration is impeccable Timothy Robbins shall not do a better movie I predict. This is a lazy man's prediction for "Shawshank Redemption" has a screenplay based on a Stephen King story that is flawless, acting that is awesome and directing that is thoughtful. I could waste my time and yours by giving you the the low down on the plot, but this movie is to be seen not to be talked about. It is that good. It is one of those rare major motion pictures that could be called a poem.

Review: I'd heard that this was a great movie, but I put every opinion aside and I made my own, based on what I felt during watching it. After have seen the movie I was thinking that I've just seen one of the best movies ever. The movie is emotional and human, and perfect in the way of storytelling. Each character was fully developed and realistic. Brilliant acting, very great performances by Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman and also the music is wonderful. The movie will stay in your head long after you watch it. Definetely Shawshank Redemption must be add to any collection
