Rating: Summary: Dead Poets Society is my favorite move Review: I love the movie Dead Poets Society. I saw it first when I was about 10 years old, I loved it then and I love it now 9 years later. The movie teaches a lot about friendship and doing what you believe in. It made me think, and I hope a lot of other people too. I am now a college student at Western Wyoming college and I write poetry in my spare time. Carpe Diem!!!
Rating: Summary: Incredible film by an incredible director Review: One of my favorite films ever, this film is heart wrenching as well humorous. Beautifully directed by Peter Weir(The Truman Show) and well acted. If you like the Truman Show, atleast rent this movie.
Rating: Summary: a must-see for all... Review: I'm an English major in university and have been writing poetry for about five years now. I've been around, seen much in life, had my ups and downs. Quit high school once and college once. And when I realized I actually wanted to teach English and point people in the direction I had found, well...there was no turning back. Strangely, I hadn't seen 'Dead Poets Society' until my third year in college. And I was transformed. My first viewing of it coincided with my discovery of Whitman. Imagine how I felt. I had a professor a year ago, a literature professor, who not only hated this film, but felt it was dangerous. I'm not about to sit here and elaborate on his reasons - I'm not so sure I could. But he has missed the point. The film is not supposed to be or pretending to be about discipline in thought. We get enough of that everywhere else, including in criticism classes. This was a poetry class in the film. And the plain truth of it is as follows: to get inside poetry requires celebration, not theorizing. Before one gets to theory, one must adore the object of criticism. These are kids in the film who do not know the value of poetry and its relationship to the heart. That Keating is able to bring this out in them is an example all future professors of literature should aspire to. The film is sumptuously photographed, crisply directed, finely acted (despite what one reviewer on here had to say - sometimes I wonder at what prods people toward mistaking immaculate work for utterly flawed work - baffling). One of the great films of my lifetime, alongside 'Saving Private Ryan' and 'The Thin Red Line' and 'Never Cry Wolf' among many others.
Rating: Summary: Best movie EVER! Review: This is my favorite movie of all time, and I've seen a LOT of movies. I keep trying to find another movie that can rival its excellence, but I just don't think there's one out there. I've seen this movie more times than I can count, and I still cry at the end. It's definitely one of the best written and acted movies ever!
Rating: Summary: An educational inspiration, as well as a reality check. Review: I first viewed this in my Intro to Education class. We compared Keating's (Williams) teaching style to that of Escalante in "Stand and Deliver." I saw the movie's importance in not only how it's possible to reach students, but also to expect the unexpected, and to never forget how powerful a role model a teacher is. As a future educator, I recommend it along with "Stand..." and "Up the Down Staircase" as must-sees.

Rating: Summary: Pandering to the lowest common denominator Review: Boring, poorly written and even worse acting. Here's a real stinker, masquerading as a "high" concept. Come on! I've seen better drama on Little House on the Prairie!
Rating: Summary: Robin William's best.....simply awesome Review: I would have to say this movie is probably one of the ten best movies I've ever seen. That's saying alot since there have been some steller motion pictures out there. It's one that you could watch again and again. A favorite forever. My husband, who's hard to impress rates this one as one of his favorites of all time.
