Summary: Pathetic, Sentimental, Self-Important Junk
Review: Robin Williams trots out his Column B (serious) performance. You know, the one he does to prove that he is More Than Just A Comedian, where he gets really quiet and serious and seems to be having a hard time keeping awake. His work in this film is supposed to come off as enlightened, but instead seems irredeemably smug and self-congratulatory. The holy glow that surrounds Williams in this film, as he does all kinds of endearingly unpredictable things, quickly became as oppressive as the very atmosphere he is supposed to be enlivening.

Many fine actors do their very best to make the film work: Norman Lloyd, Ethan Hawke, Robert Sean Leonard, Josh Charles. But the script's adoration of wealth and privilege and Williams' self-righteous posing make this film fit only for those who find Braveheart to be the height of intelligent filmmaking.

Summary: What a GREAT movie!!!
Review: Dead Poets Society is an extremely uplifting and inspiring movie. Robin Williams plays the part as Mr. Keating who teaches his students to think for themsleves and live extraordinary lives. He told them the phrase "Carpe Diem" meaning "Sieze the Day" and make their lives exciting because it is only a short period of time. His influence was far greater than any teacher I have ever seen. If I had a teacher that cool I would actually look forward to going to school each day.

"Sieze the Day. Gather ye rosebuds while ye may."

Summary: A comedy drama that takes you from laughing to crying.
Review: Last night I was bored so I decided to watch Dead Poets Society because it was sitting around gaining dust and I hadn't seen it in awhile. I was expecting a...well, I don't know. But, I was amazed; the last time I saw I remembered crying, but I couldn't remember why. I remembered last night. It's such a touching film with superb acting a wonderful, believable plot. To me, it was more than patriotism to an extraordinary teacher, it was a glimpse at what adolescents in strict schools yearn for: freedom. While I was watching it, a lot of emotion was building up inside me and when the ending scene came about, I burst into tears.

Summary: Sensitive,thought provoking,extremly watchable....
Review: Extremely thought provoking movie.Very well thought out.Makes one think a lot how we have been taught and how the system of teaching actually does to an individual's personality. Freedom of expression and thought and the actual belief in oneself to carry them out in life are what is advocated here to students in a school. As always, one who doesn't conform, faces difficulties and ( in this case a free thinking teacher-Robin williams) must be the scapegoat. The dangers of teaching absolute free thinking and living are also portrayed here in the death of one of the students. Also portrayed is how trapped within our own system mankind is...in that we cannot do what we can do best or what our heart wants us to do,we must do what the system demands or wills us to do....

Not a movie for people who do not like thought provoking themes.Great scenic and extremely romantic settings, good soft background music, good acting.Robin williams as usual is brilliant. A definate collection item for your own private library. :~)

Summary: What a Brilliant Movie! What an Apalling Video!!
Review: There are three versions of this movie that I am aware of. The first is the theatrical release, the telvision version that has 13 extra minutes added on, and last the travesty that Touchstone has released. Why DPS has been hacked up in this way is puzzling to say the least. In some parts, the plot suffers greatly because key scenes have been cut out. For example, when Knox meets Chris for the first time at the Danbury's, are we to assume that he falls head over heels in love after just seeing her at the door for all of 30 seconds? Also, there is a great scene when Dr. Nolan is handing out the extra-curricular activities at Welton, showing what a tyrant he is. Again, this scene is left on the cutting room floor. Given the Oscar nominations this movie had, and that it is one of Robin Williams' most memorable roles, I am baffled as to why Touchstone would give this move such short shrift when releasing a home video version. My advice to anyone who wants to enjoy DPS at home would be to seekout a copy of the TV version which has the full theatrical version plus the extra 13 minutes. Dead Poets' Society is a touching and thoroughly enjoyable movie. However, the verision that is found on the home video release bears little resemblance to it.

Summary: This is a theme to live by
Review: Robin Williams does a superb job of playing a dramatic role in this film. Ethan Hawke does a great job as a supporting actor. This is a sad story about a guy and his friends. They start a group that first started with their teacher, but they started this chapter without him knowing. They write and recite poems while smoking pipes and joking around. The main character, Niel, is an aspiring actor and that's all he wants to do is act, but his father has forbidden him to do so. He plays the lead in a play anyways and his father shows up. He tells Neil he is sending him to military school. This gives the story a tragic twist. When one of the boys sumbits an article to the school paper, the boys are questioned and all admit to it reluctantly. They fire Robin Williams and upsets his class. I think that everybody should see this movie. It gives you a new perspective about your own life.

Summary: perfection
Review: This was one of the greatest movies ever commited to film. No other story makes you feel more for the characters. Williams gives the best proformance of his life (rivaled only by Good Will Hunting) in this compelling look at teens finding thier indivduality. The movie shows us the dangers of confomity without being preachy. If you like good film making, see this movie.
