Rating: Summary: Oh to be a Dead Poet Review: Geography and personal backgrounds are what will decide if you like this movie or not. For me? Well, the first time I saw this film, I was about the age of the boys in the story. A lot of the issues and problems those boys faced were not unique to a prep school setting. At a time when I most needed it my own "MR. Keating" appeared in the form of my speach teacher. I found that most of the things that I had done was mirrored by those boys in the film. Those who truly did not enjoy this film had a problem in one of three areas. 1 No imagination. 2 No inspirations. 3 No Childhood or coming of age! This film has both inspired and uplifted me in every aspect of my life. Thank you Peter Weir and Robin Williams.
Rating: Summary: From a High School Student Review: Dead Poets Society is by far the most influential movie of my life. Because I go to a college preparatory school, the situations each character went through were familiar to me. Of all the high school dramas I have ever seen, this is the only one that I cannot watch without crying. This movie is poetry in itself.
Rating: Summary: Great Inspiration Review: This movie is a great inspiration to anyone, and it is especially good for aspiring poets. The characters are so real I still want to meet Mr. Keating! There are only a couple of spots where the actors do a weak job, but this can be overlooked in light of their young ages and the actual meat of the story. EXCELLENT movie. (One other gripe I have is the brief centerfold scene, although even this is pretty modest by today's standards.)
Rating: Summary: Desde España, apoyo a El club de los poetas muertos Review: La mejor pelicula que he visto en mi vida, gracias por hacerme pensar y por hacer de nuestras vidas renglones de poesía
Rating: Summary: Dead Poets is realistic and heartbraking Review: I fist viewed "Dead Poet's Society" in school about a year ago. This movie touched me in ways few other films have. Watching the movie, I could really feel the pain of the charactors as the struggled with different situations. Robin Williams gives a believable performance as well.
Rating: Summary: This is the best film in the whole lot films in Hollywood Review: I watched this movie when I was in high school in 1997. Since then I fell in love with this movie...one of my college classmates now was studying in St. Andrews...he hated that school tohugh...but he loves the movie very much... we are pretty shocked that there are some people who dont like the film very much... This is the best film that ever made in history! oh well, I still have contacts with my high school's classmates and they still remember seeing this movie in our English class.... this is a film that you can hardly forget, even through the years.... =) If you are looking for something good to watch...get this one! :)
Rating: Summary: Impressive Film Review: The film "Dead Poets Society" takes place in a preparatory school in USA.Todd,Neil, knox,Meek,Charlie and Cameron are the main characters in this film. There is a teacher who graduated this school named Mr. Keating and he is the key player in this film. This film shows how these six boys changing in their way of thinking through Mr.Keating'teaching. I particularly like the scene in which students rip out their textbook because the act of ripping out the textbook is an unusual action.Mr.Keating says to students to do this unusual action. I like Mr.Keating's dymamic decision. Most people think that Mr.Keating is an unusual man, but I think his free-thinking mind is interesting. I'm sure that students in the film thought the same thing as I did. That's why they make a club called Dead Poets Society which Mr.Keating had made up when he was still a student in this school. In this film, the words "carpe diem" is used often. We think this phrase is the main message in this film meaning seize the day. Reason for this is that this word gives students courage to do new things or act in a new way. Neil plays a part in a play and Knox confesses his feeling to a girl names Chris. Maybe sometimes the ward "carpe diem" doesn't work in good ways, but we are sure that this word is a very important phrase for students.
Rating: Summary: Fantastic Film Review: Before watching this film,"Dead Poets Society",I knew that Robin Willians acts as is the main character, and I never saw this film so I was happy to have a chance to see it in my English class. First of all,I knew that the setting was a long time ago when I saw the pictures and the scenes. As I was watching this film,I thought it was an interesting story, but I was concentrating on listening to what the boys were saying.I learned many new vocabulary words. The boy in the movie liked is Charlie.I love his character .The best scene is when Charlie stands up in the middle of the chapel and says,"We should have girls at Welton."I'll never forget his words. I want to watch this film again if I ave chance.
Rating: Summary: What a wonderful word "Carpe Diem" is! Review: In the country side of New England. Mr. Keating (Robin Williams) teaches at one of the preparatory schools. He teaches poetry in a different way which impresses his students. One of his students, Neil, restarts the "Dead Poets Society" in which Mr. Keating used to belong. Members seem to enjoy themselves through reading the poetry their point of view changes a lot. Mr. Keating has his own ideals such as untraditional teaching. We think that he's very important teacher to his students. The scene which one of characters, Todd, makes a poem in front of all other students during Mr. Keating's class was most interested. For we could see his mind changing bit by bit. Perhaps this film shows us that we should find the way which we want to go. This film makes us impressed so much, and we enjoyed a lot. We'd like to recommend this film to those who are in the same generation as we. This film is one of our favorite ones ever.
Rating: Summary: It's terrific! Review: I watchedgDead Poets Societyh. The setting is in 1959,in U.S. in the East Coast State. The main characters are Mr.Keating,Neil, and Todd. The story is about a preparatory school which is very conservative and values tradition. Mr.Keating comes to this school to encourage students to think freely and live everyday to the fullest. However, the teachers of of the schol dont like his way of teaching. I think this movie is great. It shows us that we have to live everyday to the fullest and think by ourselves. I particularly like and sympathize with Neil. He wants to be an actor, but his father doesn't allow him to act. Finally, something terrible happens to Neil. Mr.Keating is blamed for this misery, but I don't think it's not fair! It's Neil's parent's fault. They should have taken his dream into consideration. Anyway,I recommend this movie to everyone, especially to parents and teachers. They should reconsider their way to bring/teach their ways to to bring up their children/students.
