Summary: director
Review: This was Dinero's directorial debut. This movie was satisfying on every level. It had romance, action, a wonderful plot, great setting and climax after climax. I watched this movie so many times and I still love it. Lilo Brancato is so gorgeous and a wonderful actor.

Summary: Racist film
Review: I wasnt crazy about this movie when I saw it on cable TV like ten years ago. Theres great acting by Chazz, but few other redeeming features. DeNero blew this one- hes a loser in this film and it shows. This isnt what I remember of the Bronx 40 years ago growing up on Jerome Avenue right by the number 4 train. This film is not reality.

Summary: Best Damm Movie
Review: A Bronx Tale produced n directed by Robert Deniro n Chazz Palmenteri <--Cant spell is such an original movie and I personally will never get tired of watching it. "Sonny" played by Chazz Palmenteri portrays the "bad guy" who ran the neighborhood and everyone feared him, but deep down i think he really did care, and i think he really wanted a son thats why he took a liking to "Calergero" "Lorenzo's son. The whole plot of the movie takes place after Calergero witnesses Sonny shoot a man and he didnt rat on him so sonny was grateful and teaches him everything he knows and wants him to be smart and not do what he does. He treats "C" like his own son and i think thats one of the reasons Lorenzo and Sonny didnt get along. I Love a man in power and it sucks what happens in the end cuz i would love to see a sequel to this movie,"Wasted Talent" Excellent directing and producing! The best actors to fit the parts! Chazz Palmenteri is such a great actor! I am such a Fan! Cool Beans! =)

Summary: Definately adding it to the collection.
Review: I thought that this movie was all-around great. It was an astouding movie that couldn't have been better for the debut of De Niro's direction. It is a wonderful movie for mob fans and also it has a great love story to it. Excellent movie that I suggest to everyone.

Summary: BLAH!!!
Review: This movie is way over-hyped and i have changed my mind about this movie........this is a love story gone wrong......this does not belong in a collection of mob movies.....i am a mob movie collector and this movie just doesn't cut it......this may please your girlfriend.....this is almost comparable to Chaz's performance in Boss of Bosses, IT [WAS BAD]....!!!

Summary: "C" runs like a female duck
Review: The scenes where Calogero runs are just sad to me. The poor guy has obviously never been a normal kid. He looks ridiculous. This is why the Fonz never ran on "Happy Days".

Summary: Fantastic!
Review: This film was absolutely fantastic, this is EXACTLY the kind of material my Media Studies teacher would love, its not a boring film that goes from good to bad and a happy ending. Its realistic. Ive never felt so obliged after a film to write a review, but this film was so good i just had to. The Newspapers gave it 3 stars, and their information about it was totally wrong! This really is a must see film, after seeing it on TV last-night i just have to buy it and show my friends and my Media Studies teacher. I just sat there and was thinking "Yes, this is excelent", which IS so true.
Watch, buy, rent this film, it is so good, you can't miss it.

Summary: A wonderfully engaging mix of gangster and family drama
Review: In his directorial debut, Robert DeNiro wisely took the kind of film he is known for as an actor: The gangster film. But A Bronx Tale is much more then just another gangster piece, and it succeeds mostly in its veering away from the usual fare.

DeNiro plays a father trying to make an honest living in the Bronx during the 1960's. But when his son "C" finds himself allured by the Mafia "godfather," Sonny (Chez Pallimetri), doing business out of a neighboring bar, DeNiro tries to steer his son clear of danger. Soon, however, "C" is looking up to Sonny as a second father, and DeNiro feels threatened.

Rather then focusing on the crime, it emphasizes the family drama, drawing comparisons between the crime family and blood ties. And fortunately, for the most part, A Bronx Tale avoids common clichés and hokey outcomes that dramas concerning family often hit. Instead, it creates an involving situation where no one is portrayed as pure evil.

The film is not without its problems, however. At times the film suffers from over explanation, mostly through the use of narration by an older "C." He repeatedly states the moral of the tale at the end of the film, when one doesn't need to be stated at all. It's something viewers should decide for themselves, with at most, a hint by the narrator. Also, the film could have used more scenes with just "C" and his father, as well as with Sonny, to better crystallize their relationships. While what's in the film is enough to get a good idea, it doesn't fully explore the tension and characterization. The film could benefit from an additional twenty minutes or so to fully flesh out everything.

But overall, A Bronx Tale provides a satisfying, and often times nostalgic look into family ties in 1960's New York. It's well worth the price to own.
